CASTRO DE MONTES CLAROS
A Laracha (A Coruña), SPAGNA
Attività principali
The archaeological and environmental work camp Castro de Montesclaros, will offer participants an exceptional opportunity to share different types of cultures, customs, ways of life, etc. They will know the castrexa culture, the Celtiberian way of life, etc, highlighting the social component. The area where the castro is located, its surroundings, its history, the origin, the meaning of the fortified towns of the Iron Age, etc. will be studied. We will clean the perimeter area of the castro, conditioning the access road, signage, etc.
Works:
- Identification of structures of the fortified town. Taking advantage of the need to mark the walls and rocky outcrops for their protection, the first days of work will consist of explaining in a didactic way the structures of the fort and its defensive system and how to learn to look at and identify prehistoric landscapes.
- Cleaning of weeds and brush and garbage collection in the excavated areas.
- Removal of tree and scrub regrowth. Pruning of the existing deciduous trees (chestnuts, laurels, willows, oaks...) around the outcrops and dry stone fences.
- Learn about the origin and meaning of the fortified settlements of the Iron Age (Celtic forts/hillforts), study their morphology and their location in the territory.
- Approach to the Gallic-Roman culture.
- Exchange of legends and folklore of Moors and treasures common to all Indo-European prehistory.
