MERIDA CLASSICAL THEATRE FESTIVAL
MERIDA, SPAGNA
Attività principali
This volunteer camp will take place in Mérida, capital of Extremadura. Founded by Emperor Augustus in the year 25 BC. C, the city preserves more than twenty-one centuries of history, and a valuable Monumental Complex declared a World Heritage Site in 1993.
The Mérida International Classical Theatre Festival is the oldest in Spain and is considered the most important of its kind.
During this international volunteer camp, participants will explore the character of Alcestis, a heroine who sacrifices herself to save her husband and family. There will be working sessions on theatre training, micro-theatre and monologue, developing skills in the one-person show.
Based on the original work of Euripides, we will carry out rehearsals, staging, costumes and characterization, to prepare the public performances on July 22 and 23 in the Portico of the Forum.
Within the framework of the production “Agusto en Mérida”, part of the International Classical Theatre Festival, volunteers will also support the technical and human teams during the performances, collaborating in lighting and sound assembly, box office and accommodation.
In addition, there will be opportunities to attend rehearsals of other groups and works, as well as press conferences.
