Support resilience of Palestinian refugees in Palestine
Bethlehem, Palestina
Voices of Resilience Workcamp is an international volunteer initiative aims at supporting the resilience of the Palestinians living in Refugee camps in the occupied West Bank, this camp will take place at Aida Refugee camp that is located in the city of Bethlehem. The project will be implemented in partnership with Alrowwad Cultural and Arts Society that has been working in the fields of Arts, culture, media, education, health, humanitarian aid, Advocacy and Sports.
Il Progetto
Palestinians living in refugee camps have been expelled from their homes in 1948 by the Zionists and been uprooted from their natural habitat where they lived for centuries.
More than three forth (750,000) of the Palestinian nation have been expelled between 1 June 1946-15 May1948 to the neighboring Arab countries; Lebanon, West Bank, Syria and Jordan. Now the number of Palestinian refugees worldwide is 5.9 Million. There are 68 Palestinian refugee camps in total, 58 official and 10 unofficial, ten of which were established after the Six-Day War while the others were established in 1948 to 1950s. There are 19 refugee camps in the west bank and 8 in Gaza strip.
Despite the UN and security council resolutions and calls for Israel to accept their return, Israel ignored this right of return and yet to implement any of these many resolutions calling for their return. More about the Palestinian refugees: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palestinian_refugee_camps.
Living conditions in these camps is very miserable, very crowded and lacks very basic human needs; proper running water or sewage networks, housing, public spaces. They are over populated and hard to expand or have a life with decent conditions. All those refugees refuse to be settled indefinitely anywhere as they want to return to their homes inside the green line (Israel) as per the right given to them by the international community.
