No experience is necessary as new volunteers are teamed up with students and experienced volunteers for hands on learning. Volunteer opportunities range from field excavations to basic maintenance and restoration tasks. This year we will be opening test excavations in the field and assisting with historic preservation tasks in early 20th century buildings, including the museum.
The workday is from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. The work is done in a friendly and supportive environment. Please understand that this is hard physical labor and includes digging with a trowel or shovel, screening soil, carrying buckets of dirt, and some other hand tool use. Each person will work at their own pace according to their physical condition.
The temperature can be quite hot or cool and rainy. BRING work gloves, work shoes and clothing, including a warm coat or sweatshirt, sun hat, rain coat, long sleeve shirts and pants as there will be mosquitoes. The work site can be dirty and muddy so multiple sets of work clothes are a good idea. The local mud is a very red color, which can be difficult to remove from clothing. Sunscreen and bug spray will be provided.
Study Themes:
History and contemporaneous events (what was happening around the world while people lived at the site). Geology ? why people chose to mine at this particular site. Immigration ? where the mining community was from, and what challenges resulted from such a diversity of origins.

Location: Sunrise is an abandoned mining town located in a rural part of Wyoming. The area is a mixture of small towns, prairies, ranches and forest. The dig site is situated in a beautiful valley within the rugged Hartville Uplift, in the foothills of the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains.
Volunteers will attend local cultural events and will have field trips to local cultural and natural areas. They will also attend an international archaeological symposium at the local college.
There will be many opportunities to enjoy beauty and nature and there will be formal and informal discussions about topics of interest to the group. Bring music, games or other activities to share.

Volunteers will be tent camping with field school students. Individual tents, sleeping bags and pillows are provided. BRING any other bedding you wish to use. All food and meals will be provided for volunteers. We will share cooking duties. Excursions into town will occur every other day, to purchase any snacks or personal items that may be desired.
Be sure to tell the other volunteers and the co-leader if you have any special diet needs.

NEAREST STATION: Volunteers should fly into Denver, Colorado. A shuttle bus will be provided on 16 June to pick up and transport volunteers from the airport to Sunrise, Wyoming. The shuttle will depart Denver at 5:00PM. A shuttle will also be provided to drop off volunteers back at the airport in Denver on 30 June. This shuttle will arrive in Denver at around 10:00AM. Schedule your arrival and departure accordingly. The trip from the airport to Sunrise is approximately 3 hours, so it is imperative that the arrival and departure dates and times are met. There is a smaller airport in Cheyenne and if you want to pay extra to fly into Cheyenne, we can pick you up there as well.

Each day of the camp will have a program completed by local coordinators and the volunteers will be helping to realize it. The main activities will be intercultural learning through finding differences and similarities between Estonia and countries, where volunteers come from (history, traditions, language, singing, dancing). It will be done through games, drama, sport, discussions. We expect that volunteers would lead a workshop connected with their culture (traditional dances, games, everyday life, food specialities, etc.) It can be educational one or as a game to play. Taevaskoja Youth Camp is adventurous hiking camp that has been active for over 30 years. The aim of Taevaskoja camp is to support children s development through non-formal education. During the youth camp kids participate in different workshops about health, safety, culture and enjoy climbing and hiking activities. Taevaskoja is located in South-Estonia, about 220 km from Tallinn. The camp site is very close to the one of the most popular natural touristic place - Suur Taevaskoda (The Large Heaven s Hall), surrounded by beautiful forest and close to the one of the longest rivers in Estonia. Such location brings children closer to unspoiled nature and gives them an excellent opportunity to get acquainted with Estonian national heritage richly presented in the area. The camp aims also to develop children s knowledges about different cultures and support the growth of tolerance. Bring nature back to an old gravel mine! You will support the transformation of an abandoned gravel pit into an ecologically valuable habitat and thus give back to nature what humans have taken from it. The Nellschütz gravel company is creating a habitat with a pond, deadwood, rocks and steep slopes on an area of 4 hectares, providing a new habitat for amphibians, insects and various plants. All these tasks are done in close cooperation with the local authorities for nature protection. The site will also be used for environmental education work with children and young people in the future.
Specific tasks will include the construction of a circular path and a green classroom, the creation of a pond, deadwood areas, etc. You will be digging, straightening, planting, sawing and nailing. There will be a wide variety of work with different levels of difficulty. If necessary, workers from the gravel company will support you with heavy machines. A landscape gardener will provide professional guidance.

Nellschütz is located in the south-west of Leipzig. The nearest larger town is Weißenfels, the meeting point on arrival. Weißenfels is worth a visit, there is a historic old town with various baroque-style buildings, a castle, but also nice shops, bars and cafés... but also many lost places due to the structural change in the region. We will try to offer various excursions. Due to the poor public transport most activities and excursions will be realised with the support of locals. They are already exited in showing you their highlights of the region.

The living conditions will be very basic and sustainable. You will live right next to the gravel pit, about 1km away from the small hamlet of Nellschütz. Specifically, there will be several sleeping tents with camping beds and a pavilion with tables and benches as a common room. Cooking will take place in an improvised outdoor kitchen on an open fire. Instead of a fridge, there will be a dug-out earth cellar. There is a compost toilet and solar showers. Of course there is no wifi. You can also use the showers in the public swimming pool from time to time or swim in the lake. Please bring your sleeping bag.
Your group of volunteers will be responsible for grocery shopping and cooking together. The food will be bought with the camp budget and everybody will take turns for cooking, washing the dishes and cleaning. In order to reduce our carbon footprint on the planet, we encourage volunteers to reduce meat and try more sustainable dishes.

The project is only suitable for people who are comfortable with living and working in the simplest of conditions and want to try out this way of living for a fortnight without too many comforts.

With your commitment, you will make an important contribution to the biodiversity and the transformation of former industrial brownfield sites. There are many places in the area south-west of Leipzig where gravel is extracted. This is done in open-cast mining. As soon as a site is exhausted, large desolate-looking holes are left in the landscape. In cooperation with the local nature conservation authorities and the Nellschütz gravel company, we will support the revitalisation of such a gravel pit with this volunteering project. Many people in the region are looking forward to this renaturation and to you. They will support you at work, in your free time, with food etc. and they are looking forward to meeting you.
The site will also be used for environmental education by school classes and kindergartens, so a circular route through the site and an outdoor classroom will be build.

Summer school aimed at promoting youth learning about the value of nature and the environment by bringing them closer to and connecting them with the local natural ecosystem. This fosters environmental awareness and provides them with learning tools, as well as respect for nature and humanity, through activities focused on the local flora and fauna.
- Volunteers will prepare with the help of the coordinators and campleaders different activities and workshops for the local children (we are looking for committed and proactive participants).
- Volunteers will participate in relaxion workshops, excursions, activities in the rural world and natural sciencies, manual and creative activities.
A space free of screens, warm, for learning and fun among all young people and focused on nature will be created. The participant will be instructed and will instruct to become familiar with the true protagonists of the camps, nature and coexistence. They will learn to know, respect and value the land and the inhabitants who populate it.
Knowledge of English is mandatory and Spanish or Valencian is valued.
During the summer, temperatures can be very high, and weather conditions may not be optimal due to this.

The facilities of Finca Santa Barbara have the optimal requirements for carrying out this project, since they are located in a rural enclave, with toilets, showers, children's games area, a picnic area, camping areas for TENTS and a swimming pool. Summer sleeping bag is necessary.
The food is provided by our campleaders and the volunteers will be cooking in groups by the guidance of our campleader. Tents will be provided by the organization yet you can bring your own tent if you wish

The approach to heritage and environmental protection in rural areas contribute to maintaining and protecting the traditions, history and cultural identity of Serrada de la Fuente. In this field, sustainable practices are promoted and volunteers, the local community and visitors are made aware of the importance of heritage and the environment. Your volunteering will help to recover part of the heritage of Serrada de la Fuente, through the conservation of dry stone walls combined with artistic activities.
Why participate in our field?
“Serrada Viva” consists of a construction camp and the development of activities for conservation and care of the environment. Volunteers will develop activities that show the opportunities and cultural wealth of the rural world. Young people who participate in this volunteer camp will be able to experience living in Serrada de la Fuente, interacting with local residents, getting involved in projects that help revitalize rural areas. Young volunteers will have a global connection with other participants from other parts of the world.
For 15 days, you will be able to enjoy a special vacation, meeting people from other regions and countries.
Tasks specific to the field of volunteering
Carry out maintenance and conservation work on dry stone walls in Serrada de la Fuente.
Organization and participation in knowledge activities among the village elders and young people, including traditional practices such as herding and caring for family gardens.
Participate in workshops and activities to learn traditional construction techniques and the environmental care associated with these techniques.
Plan and participate in social theatre and non-formal education activities

Ruski Krstur is a village in the Kula municipality in the Sombor department of Vojvodina province. It has 3000 inhabitants approximately and majority of them are Rusyns (less-known Eastern-Slavic minority that we mentioned previously). It lays on the Small Backa canal (very important one for fertile lands all around the village).
Free time will be spent in nature, walking and riding bicycles, swimming in the pool, meeting locals (hosts really care about this part). Also, some excursion to the interesting surroundings might be easily organized!
Try to bring a positive attitude, meeting people from other cultures of this international village is really important to the host.

Volunteers will be accommodated in the local sports' hall, on the mattresses (bedding will be provided, but if you insist you can bring your own, hehe).
The kitchen will be in the near Fire department (many associations cooperate closely in this interesting village). Food will be provided sometimes (with accent on national cuisine) and sometimes it will be made by volunteers. On few occasions there can be even outdoor preparation.

There are no special requirements (except to not forget the smile and good energy), but if you like to make your life easier, bring sunscreen, adequate clothes and mosquito repellent as it gets hot and humid during the summer.

It is founded in 2004. with the mission to connect people all over the region and even all over the world. With that aim, they organized numerous festivals (mostly musical or traditional with the cultural topics) and workcamps. Its main focuses are music, nature and socializing.
Young Researchers of Serbia (YRS) was founded in 1976. Our main aims are environmental protection and education, promotion of sustainable development, work with young people in an international context, promotion of scientific creativity and voluntarism and its values. Voluntary Service of Serbia is a volunteer exchange service center founded in 1990 as one of the sectors of YRS.

The work will be educative and mainly focused on environmental topics.
As researchers from "Vladimir Mandić Manda" have this practice going on for years now, the scheme is very-well prepared. The accent is on learning, but also on meeting between people and spending time in the lovely nature.
Every day there will be at least one important lecture, that will be led by experienced members of organization. The topics will be chosen there, having in mind practical possibilities (the goal is that volunteers find out something and then apply it next day right there, on the field).
Volunteers, as well, will be invited to make their own presentations of topics they choose.
There will, also, be few workshops on bushcraft i.e. surviving in the natural environment.

The first night volunteers will spend in Valjevo, where the offices of local partner are. There they will find out about everything that is done to promote ecological projects and to connect local youth with the world of opportunities.
On the second day, from there to the camp location, bus will be organized.
After that trip, the real camp will take place on marvellous mountain Tara, in Western Serbia, 100 km from the city of Valjevo, and around 200 km from Belgrade, the capital. Its evergreen forests, as well as deciduous ones, alongside picturesque meadows, leave mark in everybody's heart. The mountain offers many hiking opportunities, which end with breath-taking views from the tops, so there are many options for relaxing excursions during the free time (sometimes, you may come by interesting wooden churches in the surroundings).
The group will have a lot of international, but also national, volunteers, since the project will be for local youth, as well. That can only mean that there will be plenty of opportunities to learn about many topics (including the stories about Tara from both, participants and locals that know "the soul of the mountain"), but also about each other, play different games and organize various activities, so the fun you have will be partly up to you and your creativity!
In every case, only thing that we recommend you to bring are patience and smile and then the unforgettable adventure can begin!

Volunteers will be accommodated on the field in front of the mountaineer house (that has bathroom). They will sleep in tents, on mats, which will be provided for them, but it is preferable to bring your own sleeping bag (if it can't be, we will provide them, don't worry). The tents will be for two, three and four people, but one gigantic tent for ten people will also be brought, so you can admire its grandiosity.
Of course, volunteers that want to arrive with their own camping gear which includes all of the above, are very welcome, as well.
In the house, there is a kitchen where every day three or four people (or more, it will be one big group) will be in charge of preparing, setting up and serving meals from ingredients that will be provided. They will certainly not do it alone, but with the support of camp leaders and researchers.

Aim of the project: With the mission of sustainable living and community development. Thai Hai Village - one of 32 ‘Best Tourism Villages 2022’ by UN Tourism.
Thai Hai Village is the result of Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Hai's dedication to preserve traditional cultural values of Tay ethnic group in Vietnam and contribute to building a just and humane society and sustainable development.
More than 30 original stilt houses, at least half a century old was rebuilt and restored in a natural area surrounded by hills and trees in Thai Hai Village. Not only the house's structure but also the ethos of Tay culture, the soul and vitality of the traditional values were preserved and passed on from generation to generation.
Day after day, the villagers cultivate and raise livestock, grow fruits and green tea to accommodate for their daily life, and to serve tourists who come to the village. Together, they form a community that “Eat Together, Share Together”, preserves and promotes their traditional cultural values. After a working day, they gather around the fireplace of the house and sing Then songs (Tay’s traditional singing) with “dan tinh” (traditional musical instrument), with flute and traditional “nang then” dance, together creating a very peaceful and cosy atmosphere.

Ojos de Braojos is an English teaching workcamp.
The task of the volunteers will be help to co-create the workshops in English for local children and teenagers. Volunteers will be creating games, workshops and activities for the kids in English so they can practice and learn the language in an informal way instead of school teaching.

It would be a bonus if volunteers could speak a little Spanish but it?s is not essential.
The volunteers will work approximately 6 hours a day from Monday to Friday. In the morning from 09:00 to 13:00 aprox. the volunteers will be spending time with kids and in the afternoon hours, they will be preparing the activities all together in group.
The weekends will be free.

Braojos is a municipality of Spain belonging to the Community of Madrid. It is included in the area of influence of the port of Somosierra, traditional step of the so-called "Camino de Francia", and in its term is also the port of Arcones. In 2017 it had a population of 200 inhabitants. 86 km away from Madrid and it takes approximately a bit more than 1 hour to reach it.
During the weekend and free time you may visit the Spanish capital. Normally there are 2 days off per week. You are free those days and have the possibility to plan a group trip to the mountains or to the nearest towns like Rascafria which is located in the wonderful area of Valle del Lozoya, Rascafria is one of the most beautiful villages in La Sierra Norte. It stands out since its foundation for the imposing Monastery of Santa Maria del Paular.
Or Buitrago de Lozoya, which is one of the most picturesque municipalities in the Community of Madrid and has an important mediaeval heritage. Its historic center is surrounded by a spectacular wall of Arab origin, surrounded in turn by the waters of the Lozoya River. Behind its ancient walls await the Castle (14th-15th centuries), the Church of Santa Maria del Castillo, the Clock Tower and even a museum with works by Picasso.
Even though public transportation is not very developed in the area, it could be possible to reach the near towns using buses to Buitrago de Lozoya.

The accommodation will be done in a local hostel in the town which has 8 rooms with several bunk beds in it and separate bathrooms and showers for boys and girls. There is also a well equipped kitchen in the building. The hostel has its own garden and a common area for the volunteers.
Even though the there will be beds and pillows, there is no sheets and pillow covers so. Please bring your sleeping bags or your own sheets.

The volunteers have to speak English well as this is an English teaching project. It will be nice if they speak at least a basic level of Spanish.

The volunteering tasks focus on ecosystem restoration and include a variety of activities: pruning young trees and managing pine and other native species to accelerate their growth; creating and maintaining access paths for volunteers and visitors; restoring riparian vegetation; building water runoff barriers with local materials to improve soil and water infiltration; and controlling invasive plants like Acacia dealbata, which degrades local ecosystems. Control methods involve pulling small trees and ring barking larger ones. Volunteers will also help with camera trapping, setting up and retrieving cameras to capture wildlife photos and videos, with results shared afterward via email. Additionally, participants will identify and record fauna and flora using the iNaturalist app.

Avant le festival, tu prendras part à la création des décoration, à l'installation et au montage du festival. Après le festival, tu participeras au démontage des équipements. L'atmosphère est toujours chaleureuse et cela sera l'occasion de faire de belles rencontres ! Au-delà des temps de chantier, les bénévoles participent ensemble à l’organisation de la vie collective. Souvent réparti·e·s en équipes, ils·elles élaborent les menus, participent aux courses, préparent les repas et s’assurent de la propreté des espaces communs.
Véritable acteur·ice de ton expérience, tu participeras aussi à la prise de décisions concernant les activités collectives et l’organisation du quotidien !
Volunteers will be accommodated in tents, on a dedicated green area of the municipal stadium. Each volunteer will have their own tent, and they will have access to a building with all amenities. Outdoor spaces will be available for resting, socialising, and shared meals.
Beyond the working hours, volunteers come together to organise daily life on the camp. Often divided into teams, they plan menus, help with the shopping, prepare meals, and ensure the cleanliness of shared spaces.
Fully involved in shaping your experience, you will also take part in decision-making regarding group activities and daily organization!

For 50 years, the National Association of Cultures du Monde (ANCM) has been dedicated to promoting and raising awareness of intangible cultural heritage. During this workcamp, you take part in an important step in the village development, the construction of a new Yurt !
? Building a table with the trunk from the trees found in the nearby forest
? Building a solar shower
? Building a wooden cabana, to put in the pedagogical garden.

La Ferte Alais is approximately 50km south of Paris, in the Essonne region.
You will have the chance to enjoy the association's campsite and to discover the cultural and natural heritage of the region which is part of a natural park. You will also help organise some activities in order to meet and socialize with local young people. Other leisure activities will be organised collectively depending on the wishes of the group and the available budget. On day in Paris is scheduled.
Alloggio
You will sleep in collective Yurts, in non mixity on the campsite of the association. Please bring a sleeping bag with you. The campsite has separate bathrooms and showers, as well as a kitchen place. Food will be provided and cooked by the volunteers in turns.

Vir'Volt stands for InteRnational VolunTeer Village (in French). For 10 years, the organisation has been located right in the middle of nature, near a regional park. Hosting youth from all around the world, learning how to understand and appreciate differences. To plan and act together to protect the environment. To create a positive impact on the surrounding environment and people living there or simply passing by. Here lie our goals for this future village, which each year, are built thanks to the youths who come and contribute, with solidarity, as their driving force. Vir'Volt also aims to become fully eco-friendly and sustainable, which is reflected in our campsite; yurts and teepees as rooms, permaculture farming and gardening, water saving projects, reducing and reusing waste. This small village will become great without sacrificing or damaging the surrounding environment, whilst always searching for better and more eco-friendly ways of living.
