This project is actively working for SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDGs 15 (Life on Land), organized together with Tabito Satoyama Restoration Committee (TSRC), since 2022. Tabito-cho is an area of Iwaki City with an ageing population, but at the same time it still retains its traditional satoyama landscape. Former NICE staff, her husband who took up as Local Vitalization Cooperator (organized by Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications) in 2019, was fascinated by Tabito area and wanted to pass on the local satoyama nature and culture to the next generation. The TSRC was set up with the involvement of local people. The couple's vision of a 'Tabito Workcamp Village' to enliven the depopulated and ageing town with a workcamp movement was launched. T From 2022, TSRC accepted very short-term workcamp in spring, short-term workcamp in summer and medium- to long-term volunteers were organized, and accepted a university group.

First part (30.07.-06.08.) will be all about the preparation of Windmill festival, which is very rich with content. The volunteers will be helping out to the organizers and the other volunteers in setting everything in its place (stage, fences, cleaning the field) and in decorations, because the festival will start on the 7th. During the festival (07.08.-09.08.), volunteers will help with the tasks (sell the tickets at the entrance, inform the guests, move things, things that need to be moved, keep the space without trash, help the musicians maybe, why not, etc...) for around 4 hours a day. All the rest-enjoying time!

Orom is relatively small village with almost completely Hungarian population in the Kanjiža municipality, in the North Banat District, Vojvodina province. It is surrounded by natural beauty with landscaped surroundings and friendly hosts. Settlement was founded at the end of the 19th century.
Orom was organized around railway station, important crossroad and the school. Many houses, stores, but also windmills were built gradually. It is agricultural area and many people are having farms with pigs and cows (that are taken care of with soul). Today it is well connected with Subotica (Szabadka), that is important center of that part.
Before the festival-festival, excursion to Subotica or other interesting places in the neighbourhood can be organized.
During the festival, there will be offered plenty of activities where volunteers can take part. Many workshops will be organized, collective reading, photography, potential circus productions, games for kids, cooking lessons, dance, and sometimes rides in the local chariots.
One secret (that is not that anymore) is that there is also a big pool where volunteers can relax in the hot sunny days.
Please bring a positive attitude, meeting people from other cultures of this Serbian-Hungarian village is really important to the hosts.

The accommodation will be under the tents in the festival zone. Tents will be provided for the volunteers, but if anyone wants extra-comfort, it is completely acceptable to bring your own tent (seriously, haha).
Meals will be prepared together or will be made by the local chef, negotiations are still in progress.

No specific requirements needed, but it will make your life easier if you bring sunscreen, adequate clothes and mosquito repellent as it gets hot and humid during the summer in Serbia.

The Morelia Zoo has stood out for implementing environmental education initiatives. Its main goal is to raise awareness among visitors about the importance of caring for the environment, biodiversity, and the preservation of flora and, especially, fauna. This is achieved through various activities carried out throughout the year.
Each year, the zoo organizes the famous summer camp, a space designed for children who, over the course of three weeks, participate in fun and recreational activities with the support of trained instructors. These activities not only spark curiosity but also foster empathy and love for animals and the planet. In a safe environment surrounded by greenery and a variety of species, children have fun while gaining valuable knowledge about the reality of animals and the impact we can have on their protection.
The project's goal is for volunteers to support facilitators and coordinators in the activities of the summer camp, actively engaging with the children in its dynamics. Through this experience, both volunteers and children will have fun and learn together, promoting values such as empathy, respect for nature, and environmental stewardship.

This project is actively working for SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDGs 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), organized together with the local group since 2019. This village has been welcoming "Ohenro (pilgrims)" who visit 88 temples in Shikoku since long time ago. The pilgrims walk through this village before visiting "Kakurin-ji temple"; the 20th temple out of 88 temples of the Shikoku Ohenro Pilgrimage. However, there are problems which should be solved such as aging and depopulation of the community these days, and locals haven't been able to find solutions for those problems. On the other hand, since more and more people from overseas visit for the Shikoku Ohenro Pilgrimage locals are trying to find new ways for "omotenashi (hospitality)". Volunteers who have been working on the project have come up with ideas for the reuse of vacant and abandoned land. Local host Oi have finally decided that they can freely renovate and modify the vacant houses. Moreover, the site is in a good location, with mountains, a river and fields. It is up to the volunteers from now on to decide how to develop the project. The aim is for the volunteer members to clean up the abandoned houses and village landscape and transform it into a village that people will want to visit to take photos, as it used to be a village where people came and went since ancient times.

You will have the honor of being the first international volunteers to enter this building, which has been partially closed to the public for many years.
Under the supervision of a specialized technical instructor, you will begin by removing the wall plaster. You will then clear out the old mortar and repoint the stones to highlight their beauty. This will be a great opportunity to learn traditional masonry techniques, as well as ceiling work and insulation installation. Bring appropriate work clothing, as it may get dirty. Safety equipment will be provided, and no prior qualifications are required. You will work approximately 4 to 5 hours per day.

On the Ile d'Oleron, you can enjoy many water activities, such as fishing and surfing with local clubs. The beach, bike rides along the coast, beach volleyball, and other pleasures await you. You can also visit cities like La Rochelle and Rochefort. Activities and outings will be organized with the local population and especially with youth organisations. Leisure time will encourage meeting the locals who are eagerly awaiting you!

Accommodation will be in one or two-person tents at the Rene Roux sports complex, where you will have exclusive access to the locker rooms for showers. You must bring your warm sleeping bag and a pillow; we provide inflatable mattresses. Food will be provided for all meals, with a budget managed collectively by the group and the facilitators. In turn, you will prepare meals, prioritizing local resources and respecting everyone's dietary regimes (hot and cold dishes, vegetarian, and vegan).

Dive into the history of the Ile d'Oleron by participating in the renovation of a 16th-century seigneurial estate! Every stone has a story to tell. Just outside the town, you'll find the grand estate of La Cailletiere, owned by the commune since 2008. In the 16th century, it was a seigneurial residence consisting of a large manor house with several rooms on the ground floor and first floors, a bordier's dwelling (laborer?s house), and included wine cellars, distilleries, livestock and poultry parks. The commune of Dolus d'Oleron aims to open this space to the public and wishes to add an international dimension by hosting this project with La Maison des Bateleurs.

The ‘Drentsche Aa’ area is a varied old cultural landscape, shaped by age old interplay of agriculture and nature. The ‘Drentsche Aa’ is also the name of the stream that meanders through this area and creates a typical landscape that is declared National Park. It includes 16 authentic villages. Volunteers will discuss the recreational program together with the camp leaders. For example they can explore the area by bike, go swimming, visit the city of Groningen, Westerbork transit camp (where Anne Frank was prisoned) and other places in the Netherlands.

During the training and forest and nature project Drentsche Aa the accommodation will be in tents. The tents will be provided by us. This project especially invites volunteers that are actively involved in international volunteering opportunities in your home country, as it is a unique combination of a 3-day training and 2 weeks of volunteering. The training activities will help the team building of the group. The participants will also work on intercultural communication and collaboration. Finally, you will reflect on your own learning goals for the project as well as the meaning of sustainability and the environment as the volunteering will focus on personal development through working in an international group on nature preservation. Participants will be encouraged to implement the lessons learnt back home. The project is supported by Erasmus+ and as a result the project is only open for participants who live and travel from/to an EU country, Iceland, North Macedonia, Norway, Republic of Türkiye or Republic of Serbia. Actual travel costs will be reimbursed up to certain caps. Travel by rail, bus or car sharing is promoted. Visa costs will also be reimbursed. July 31 is arrival date, the training is on 1-2 Aug, while the nature conversation project in the National Parc Drentsche Aa for two weeks starts right after.
This work camp contains a unique training opportunity at the start of the camp. No preparation training is required in the home country.

Study part:
Join us for the first week to get to know the Ravensbruck Memorial and its history. We will deal intensively and artistically with biographies of imprisoned women and survivors who were imprisoned in the Ravensbruck concentration camp and afterwards in the subcamp Waldbaulager, which is part of the Ravensbruck concentration camp.
Also there will be an audio workshop based on the impressions of the sight.

The former women's concentration camp Ravensbruck was built in 1939 near the small town of Furstenberg/Havel. Until its liberation in April 1945, over 120,000 women and children, 20,000 men and 1,000 underage young women from the so-called "Uckermark Youth Protection Camp" were imprisoned there. The prisoners came from more than 40 nations. They had to perform forced labor in various sectors, e.g. for SS factories or the Siemens company. Their daily lives were marked by hunger, mistreatment and poor hygienic conditions. Tens of thousands of prisoners were killed. Today, the Ravensbruck Memorial preserves traces and records, promotes remembering and research, and creates a place for active learning and encounters. Every year, international work camps are organized in cooperation with the memorial.

The aim of this workcamp is to preserve the natural reserve area surrounding called "Fonts del Rio Algar." More concretely, the work will be mainly dedicated to parks and gardens maintenance or ?arboretum?: removing the over-grown grass, weeding some parts of the grasslands and the edge of the woods, maintaining footpaths. Volunteers will also take part in the clean-up of some areas of the reserve where building waste has been found, and if time allows it, they will carry out some painting works around the centre.
There will be other additional tasks to change the daily routine of the volunteers. Volunteers might participate in projects using recycled materials, such as sculptures, murals, mosaics, crafts, artistic activities, or other initiatives requested by the local town hall. Also, here may be a day of social work with the youngsters of the town in the local youth center, depending on availability and planning.

The municipality is located in the province of Alicante, in the northern part of the Marina Baixa region, 10 km from the coast and 42 km from the city of Alicante.
Algar Waterfalls at only 15 km from Benidorm and 3 km from the center of Callosa. This area was declared a Wetland protected by the Valencian Government. It is a park about the importance of water as an environmental resource, economical and cultural. The visit is a route through a circuit of 1.5 km in length along, where you can walk through the bed of the river Algar, see the spectacular waterfalls and the numerous sources, the "tolls" (pools of water) where you can take refreshing swims in crystal clear water, the old dam, the imposing century-old canal and ditches still in use.
Apart from the Waterfalls, there are other interesting sites in Callosa like the cultural heritage of the town, old narrow streets in the center. Also, there are several beautiful hiking routes around Callosa. One of the most spectacular places is El Fort de Bernia.
Not far from Callosa, you can visit a town called Guadalest which has an ancient castle. Also, Altea, another beautiful town near the sea can be visited. The beach is not far from the house and somedays, the volunteers can take a trip to the beach of Altea.

In a small rural house with basic conditions, some kilometres away from the village centre, with 2 different rooms. No need to bring a mattress but bring lower sheets and a summer sleeping bag are necessary. The centre is equipped with showers and WC.
The food is provided by our campleaders and the volunteers will be cooking in groups by the guidance of our campleader.
Please keep in mind that during the summer, weather conditions may not be optimal due to the high temperatures.

The extra fee has be paid by card ( in the exceptional cases we can accept bank transfer as well) 3 weeks before the camp as a confirmation of participation.
If we don't recieve the fee and the flight/bus tickets of the volunteer, we will consider that she/he will not attending to project and we will give opportunity to other volunteers that are on the waiting list.

The volunteers will prepare and finalize the programme in the first days. Each day, a four hours workshop/activities will be given and organized for kids in the morning. The volunteers will have many facilities and a park to do the activities with children.
It is well known that people in Spain don?t have a good level of English, even though it is studied at school for more than 9 years. That?s why the participants are really asked to try their best if they speak Spanish to communicate with locals.
Simultaneously, the workshops will try to teach other values such as the respect for the environment and promote the culture of peace. A good atmosphere will be the key for workcamps in future! Volunteers will be asked to take initiative, to ?create? the workcamp, to leave a memory in Jodar.

Jodar is a village located close to Jaen. The main economic activity is agriculture and it is surrounded by the Natural Park of Sierra Magina which is a natural area with the high-quality landscape, pure and nearly virgin. Volunteers will have excellent possibilities to visit Cordoba/Granada or Seville and other spots like Jaen (Arabic baths and cathedral), Ubeda and Baeza. There is also a chance of doing a hiking route through the Serrezuela and the Sierra Magina and even to have a parapente experience in Pegalajar.
In a workcamp we also dedicate some time to a study part. It is an activity of non-formal learning, where you can gain new knowledge or form new opinions on different problems; all this is done in a relaxed and entertaining way.
The intercultural evening is a good way of intercultural learning. In every camp there is one evening, when all participants present their country in a relaxed way ? making presentation, watching photos, telling stories, tasting typical dishes, drinks and sweets, dances etc. Please, have this evening in your mind while preparing your luggage to share a piece of your culture with the rest of volunteers.
The volunteers will have access to the local swimming pool of the town and will be able to enjoy their free times in the poolside.
As the local transportation is not very well connected, it is not easy to organize some trips to the big cities but depending on the volunteers, it could be possible to organize some trips to Malaga, Sevilla or Granada in the weekends. Keep in mind that De Amicitia is not financing your leisure time activities.

At local high school. The living conditions are basic, please bring a sleeping bag. Mats will be available but please check with us first! The center is equipped with showers and toilets. The volunteers are meant to prepare their breakfast, lunch and dinner, although last year we got a professional cook and we hope this year we will have the same ?luxury?.
This project will include a one day only vegan food day agreed by volunteers for the promotion of environmental sustainable lifestyle.

Castro del Castillo is located in Prellezo, a municipality in Val de San Vicente (western Cantabria), about 65 km from Santander, the capital of the community.
It is located on a peninsula-shaped promontory and most of it is bordered by steep sea cliffs. It is a place surrounded by nature and also has numerous beautiful beaches.
Castro del Castillo has been declared a Site of Cultural Interest with the category of archaeological zone.

The accommodation will be at t Serdio Hostel (C/ Poblado Serdio, 11 -Antiguas escuelas- Serdio, Val de San Vicente). Services: Rooms with bunk beds (sleeping bag required) in shared rooms, showers and toilets separated by gender: two showers for women and two for men, hot water, heating and meeting room.

Activating kids in the city camp and providing them with cross-cultural learning experience. Volunteers will do it by using various informal methods of teaching as well as small group techniques. The activities to be held by a team of volunteers may include the following: playing the games and performing music that are popular in the countries the volunteers represent; training kids to perform pieces of amateur drama; preparing festivals; providing intellectual and sport games as well as discussions; preparing quests to combine with excursions round the places of interest; organizing actions for peace and nature protection; leading and supporting kids in their work on the team projects within the topics related to the main theme of the summer. Volunteers are responsible for the day activities in the camp. The work can be quite hard, involving long working hours, requiring high level of commitment and responsibility. You will stay with campers from 10:00 to 17:00 (45-minute lunch is included) and spend about another hour to prepare and finalize next day activities and feedback. Working days are from Monday to Friday plus one duty Saturday; Sundays are days off except the one after arrival. The local participants are mainly youngsters from minority groups of Tallinn whose family s languages include Russian. Based on the previous year, we expect a number of kids/teens participants in one camp shift as up to 40. Volunteers will work in pairs facilitating and leading a smaller group of 10 - 12 children or less during the day and change the groups every 2-3 days.During the first three days of the workcamp after arrival, volunteers will be given the training on the camp methodology and some time to prepare themselves to meet the kids/teens on Monday and further carry out their tasks in the camp. For this reason, it is important to arrive on time.

There are 2 options possible (subject to availability, which will become clear by the start of the project):1) The premises of The Language School In Down-Town located on the 4th and 5th floors of a business building in the city centre. In summer time, a part of the school is reserved for the volunteers accommodation that includes several separate dormitory bedrooms, a fitted kitchen, a small dining area, a large shower area and two separate toilet cabins. Bed linen, towels, pillows and blankets will be provided, so you do NOT need to bring a sleeping bag unless you want so. For the reasons of security, volunteers will be issued only one set of keys. To facilitate a smooth and safe environment at school during the off-hours, the entrance to the school must be kept closed at all times. The access to the school and accommodation areas will be managed by long-term volunteers or school staff. Please be aware that between 01:00 a.m. and 09:00 a.m. the access to the building will be closed. Catering will be organized by the school on an agreement with the volunteers (selection of times, meals - provided or volunteers cook, etc.).2) A furnished shared apartment in the residential area of Tallinn. Volunteers will be issued two sets of keys. The apartment has three-four dormitory bedrooms and all necessary facilities, and it takes about 20 minutes to get to the city center by public transport. Public transport cards will be provided. Volunteers will cook their breakfast meals themselves (food for a standard European breakfast will be provided); dinner meals will be served at school between 18:00 and 19:00; lunches will be organized for the whole camp (including kids/teens) in the city centre.Please note: it is not possible to stay at any of the camp accommodation options before or after the camp arrival and departure days. If you need a place to stay before or after the workcamp dates, we can help you to book a hostel in Tallinn.

Special requirementsYou have to be really motivated to work with kids. Please provide a letter of your motivation along with the application form. An experience of working with children is an advantage. Your ideas and actual preparation to do the activities for kids are essential, so a successful volunteer will be required to meet the team online to discuss and complete some preliminary preparation. We ask you to bring some materials: postcards, posters, symbols of your country, music or popular national games etc., which can be used during your country presentation. We expect active volunteers with a good knowledge of history and culture of their country as well as with an ability and wish to present it to others in a creative way. B2 level of English is required. The age of volunteers is from 20 to 33. Please note that before making a final decision about your participation in the camp, the project coordinator will have a video interview with you.Participation feeWe ask participants to contribute 50 Euro towards the costs of general administration. If you apply for two shifts in a row the participation fee is 80 Euro. This fee has to be paid by bank transfer before the beginning of the camp. This project is organized for local children by The Language School In Down-Town and the non-profit educational association Alternative Language Programs Satellite (ALPS) as part of their annual activities on multicultural issues for youth. Some international teenage participants may randomly join. The common project s aim is to introduce the diversity of world cultures to children and provide them with good practices in intercultural communication using the learning-by-doing method and organizing alternative English language practice. The project gets youngsters familiar with customs and traditions of the countries from all over the world and encourages them to develop their cross-cultural thinking and tolerance as well as global thinking and individual initiative. This summer we offer you to participate in our project called KALEIDOSCOPE . We invite camp participants to discuss ideas of chaos and order, mess and harmony. Together, we will discover our own infinite potential and freedom to create new patterns of life, same way as we create patterns out of random single pieces of colourful glass twisting a kaleidoscope. We will learn how to find harmony in apparent disorder and use chaos as a tool for stress relief, how to turn imperfection into the source of true beauty and embrace uncertainty to make our life journey more successful, unique and vibrant. Camp participants will gain ideas and skills how to deal with millions of combinations of the world s reality. Meetings with local and/or international professionals in the field will take place. The town of Riano is located in the heart of the Cantabrian Mountains in the historic Montana de Riano region. A fairly extensive space that has been protected under the figure of the Montana de Riano y Mampodre Regional Park, the prelude to the well-known Picos de Europa National Park. An impressive natural space covered by the dammed waters of the Esla and Yuso rivers. Riano has been a municipality marked by the great environmental catastrophe caused by the construction of the reservoir. Although Riano did not completely disappear, a large part of the old town remains submerged. In spite of everything, it has many incentives to dedicate an in-depth visit to it to see the uniqueness and beauty of the area.
There is a Hermitage of Nuestra Senora del Rosario next to which rests the so-called most beautiful bench in Leon because of this natural viewpoint. The visit will then take us along the so-called Paseo del Recuerdo. A one kilometer long pedestrian path that runs along the edge of the swamp.
The most beautiful viewpoint are outside the village: Las Hazas viewpoint and the Valcayo viewpoint. It is a very short and spectacular road. One of the best panoramic views in the area.
There are many hiking trails that can be done in the area, but one of the most emblematic is the ascent to Pico Gilbo (1679 meters). It?s also recommended the ascent to Pico Yordas. The views are also wonderful but the slope is somewhat greater. And, finally, you have another of the most mythical ascents at the top of Penas Pintas. Same, although it lacks great technical difficulties, the route requires quite a bit of effort.
The privileged situation of Riano makes it a fantastic point from which to make wonderful excursions in the surrounding area: Macizo de Mampodre y Valle de Valdeburon, Lois y la catedral de la Montana, Valle de Sajambre y otros.

Cremenes is a Spanish municipality and town in the province of Leon, in the autonomous region of Castilla y Leon. It has a population of 530 inhabitants (INE 2023).
The largest portion of the township belongs to the Picos de Europa Regional Park, where the largest number of Vadinian tombstones have been found (eleven in total). Come and experience a total disconnection in a small village in Normandy! The municipality wish, by hosting this workcamp, to energize the town, to set up a European and intercultural project for the inhabitants and to enhance the local heritage. Chicheboville has a church, which has been closed to the public for many years due to the deterioration of the building. This year, you will continue the restoration of the church! Your mission will be to restore a facade of the village church: staking of the mortar, repointing with lime mortar (masonry technique for old buildings). Collective living will be at the heart of this experience: you’ll share daily tasks and prepare meals together. The animation team will manage a budget, and you’ll take part in shopping and cooking, prioritizing healthy and locally sourced products.

The workcamp is organized within the frameworks of World Heritage Volunteers Initiative launched by UNESCO World Heritage Centre and Coordinating Committee for International Voluntary Service (CCIVS). One of the main goals of the project is to raise awareness about the necessity to protect, preserve and promote cultural and natural heritage in general and the inscribed or potential World Heritage sites in particular.

The major objective of the work camp is to preserve this historical site for the future
generations, to keep it in worthy conditions to allow the visitors to be spiritually enriched and to contemplate the beauty and the splendour of this monument.
Activities for the volunteers are as follows:
- Maintenance of the territory - removing the over-grown grass, weeds.
- National sounds of Zvartnots-learning Armenian national dances, songs.
- Cultural program-My impressions about World Heritage Power point presentations of the volunteers on their impressions and feelings about the project and plans for the future.
- Presentation of the countries the volunteers come from, and of the UNESCO World Heritage Objects existing there.
The participants will get certificates in the end of the work camp.

Zvartnots was built in the middle of the 7th century. This architectural masterpiece is a monument which embodies the centuries-long traditions of Armenian architecture. Unfortunately, Zvartnots has “survived” only in ruins, as it was completely destroyed by a powerful earthquake in the 10th century.
Armenia is called an open-air museum. You will have lots of interesting excursions and visits to historical monuments and museums, which will be organized during the work camp. The excursions to the following sights will be organized upon the decision of the camp and all the visits will be free. The proposed list of the excursions is the following: Echmiadzin Mother Cathedral, Zvartnots Cathedral ruins, Garni Pagan Temple, Geghard Monastery Complex with a program of World Heritage Initiative, Lake Sevan (with a barbecue on the beach).

Guest house on the territory of the Cathedral. The participants will be provided with mattresses and linen.
Volunteers will prepare the food by themselves on the principle of duty. You will taste all kinds of Armenian traditional food, such as dolma, khorovats (barbecue), kiabab, khashlama, incomparable fruits of Ararat Valley - apricots, grapes, peaches, apples, berries etc. and vegetables.

You will learn how to prepare materials (lime, hemp, sand, water), mix them and apply plaster to the walls in several layers. Each phase of the work will be supervised to ensure that sur-faces are well moistened before application and that drying times are respected between coats. Your group will be divided up to carry out the various stages: preparing the mixture, applying the plaster, finishing (smoothing, texturing or adding pigments). This project will ena-ble you to develop teamwork skills and construction techniques, while applying safety prac-tices (gloves, goggles). The progress of the project will be monitored by a technical supervisor to ensure that all the work is carried out efficiently and to a high standard. 20h/week

The workcamp will take place on the REV's permanent site, a former vacation camp at an altitude of 1,200m. The site is located at the foot of Mont-Lozere (department 48) in the heart of the Cevennes. The REV took over the site in the spring of 2022 and hopes to turn it into a place of welcome, exchange and encounter. This project will be part of the transformation of the colony into a socio-cultural living space. The nearest town is Mende, with a population of 16,000.
Far from the French metropolises, Lozere is nonetheless a very dynamic region. Activities in the area revolve around local festivities, concerts and unspoilt natural areas (mountains, riv-ers, forests).

The workcamp will take place in a particularly isolated area, where you will be accommodat-ed on the REV site in a collective tent (remember to bring your sleeping bag). You will have access to sanitary facilities close to the camp. What's more, if weather conditions deteriorate too much for camping, we'll set up a permanent camp for the duration of the bad weather. Meals will be provided by the REV and cooked in turn by the participants. On the project, it's important to know that you'll have two meat meals a week.

Come and volunteer in a summer village for different (age) groups! 3 weeks of various activities await you while you assist in a summer camp for children and young families near Cologne! The summer village officially opens on the 13th of July and several weeks of program for children and teenagers have already happened when your camp starts. Your project starts with the arrival of a children group aged 7 to 12 (KidZ 4.-9.8.) and a week full of activities with and for the young participants. Your job will be to help with different types of workshops, where the children can try out different types of sport, creative activities, do arts and crafting or simply chill or play games. The second week (GenerationZ 11.-16.8.) is dedicated to families and presents a mix of generations from parents to small children and everything in between.
In the last days your job will be helping with the dismantling of the infrastructure, which gets stored away until the next year.
Aside from helping with the program, there will also be “backstage” tasks, such as taking shifts in the “bar” or cleaning the sanitary facilities. Another responsibility is the night duty: Since the participants are under-age, someone always needs to stay awake. Don’t worry, you won’t need to stay up the whole night and you won’t need to do it alone. It can easily turn into a nice long campfire-evening with friends. It is very important to the local team that you feel and become part of one big group of teamers.

The camp village is situated on a meadow surrounded by trees a bit outside of the town of Bergheim. In Bergheim, you can find different shops and cafés, and Bergheim itself is only 20km away from Cologne. On your days off you can therefore visit Cologne, which is the fourth most populous city of Germany, famous for its cathedral and the Roman-Germanic museum. You can also go on trips to other nearby towns, for example to Bonn.

You will sleep in big group tents on the camp village site. Camp mats will be provided, but please bring your own sleeping bag! There are showers and sanitary facilities available, but the accommodation itself is quite basic. There will be no need for cooking since you will be eating together with the local team and the participants, so everything will be provided, but of course it is expected that you may help with cleaning and so on. Woanders e.V. is a non-profit organization which wants to reach people of all ages, support cross-generational interaction and contact between people from different areas of life. Their work intends to reduce fear of contact and support tolerance and curiosity for other people, by strengthening the team-spirit “We”. Each summer for over a
month, they organize a camping village full of activities for different age groups: This workcamp starts with a week of camping for children (07-12 years old), which is followed by a week for families.The last week of the project is dedicated to dismantling the whole area, because the summer is ending.
(Before this workcamp the program started with another 3 weeks of divers program for children and teenagers. The first group of volunteers is staying until 3rd of August and will help in facilitating your arrival phase.)

Participants usually stay there for a full week, most of them will stay overnight in tents
and have their meals there as well. It is a project aimed mostly towards children and teens with fewer opportunities but it is open to people from all backgrounds. Priority is given to participants from nearby communities. Since 2020 we successfully support this project with small groups of international volunteers and the local team is looking forward to meet new international friends. Together with the refugees we want to organize common activities, where the women and children are taken into consideration: playing games, doing sports, playing music together, being creative, in short, to have some fun together… Besides organizing games for the kids and special activities for women and men, there is an option to create some scenes in a puppet theatre.
We want also to focus on several groups with special needs like people with disabilities and people from the queer community. In order to cover the needs of each group, a special collaboration is planned. For this purpose, a safe space should be created where the queer community can take part in a cooking evening and cook one dish or several small ones together in the kitchen. Game evenings are planned in the camp for people with disabilities. These ideas can be easily implemented and offer the greatest scope for getting to know each other better.
In addition, our goal is to get in contact with the young people in Giessen to raise greater awareness for the refugees and to break the isolation of the refugees. We will establish contact with institutions and voluntary and professional supporters (students, social workers, therapists) of the asylum seekers, which will help you to understand their background. In order to work with people, it is also important to know some information about how to deal with them. We therefore plan to prepare a preventative protection measure as an introduction and to attend a workshop on the topic of anti-discrimination.
We especially invite volunteers to participate who can speak Kurdish, Turkish, Arabic or Farsi, as well as volunteers who like to make music like drumming or guitar. We want to create this amazing experience where music offers a universal language for everyone.

There are plenty of possibilities for leisure time activities: playing football or canoeing as well as possibilities to visit some other cities. (e.g. Marburg, Frankfurt or Heidelberg).

The workcamp will be hosted by a local protestant church that is already involved in working with the refugees for many years. The premises of the church are plentiful, and volunteers will have a lot of space for sleeping, cooking, dining, relaxing, and for indoor and outdoor activities.

Since many years now we offer this successful workcamp together with the protestant community center "Petrusgemeinde". The international volunteers are invited to the Asylum Centre for two weeks to take part in the daily life of the refugees. In the study part of the camp, we want to inform about the situation of refugees in Germany and Europe, as well as the current developments in the area of Asylum-policies. We want you to get in contact with the residents of the Asylum Centre so that we can learn about their stories, issues, difficulties and perspectives.
The Asylum Centres for asylum seekers in Hessen are located at the edge of the city Giessen. There are currently around 2 000 asylum-seekers hosted in former army barracks. The refugees are in Germany because of various reasons, e.g. political, ethnic and religious persecution or poverty. Usually, they stay at the facility for few months until a decision has been made about their application. Sometimes they are sent to other centers or to other “safe countries” where they entered the European Union, or to their countries of origin. Most of the people living in the Asylum Centres in Giessen are from Turkey, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Eritrea, Ukraine and Balkan countries: young men, women, children and older people. The asylum seekers live in simple conditions and are not allowed to work or leave the district in which they live. Their permission to stay in Germany often is limited and so is their contact with the locals living in the city.

Do you like playing with children and would you like to help children from the district of Nordwestmecklenburg experience great holidays?
Then join us and look after 20 to 30 children between the ages of six and twelve every day in the Hanseatic city of Wismar and in three or four other towns in the district of Nordwestmecklenburg as part of the holiday play activities. With your ideas and your desire for creative activities, sports games, music and dance, make sure that these days are a great experience for you and the children. With games, songs and handicraft ideas from your home countries, you can give the play weeks an international flair.
On Monday 4.8. and Tuesday 5.8. you will prepare the vacation play activities and the press conference on 5.8. Afterwards, from Wednesday 6.8. to Friday 8.8. and from Monday 11.8. to Friday 15.8., you will look after the children together and with the help of the educational staff on site and implement your prepared ideas.
The vacation play activities take place in the Hanseatic city of Wismar and in the youth facilities of the district of Nordwestmecklenburg. The Wismar Children's and Youth Recreation Center will provide you with bicycles for the entire time. You can also use the bikes for trips into the city and the surrounding area. For trips to other places in the district, you will be given vacation tickets to use public transport if possible, or you will be driven by the team.
A good knowledge of German will make it easier for you to communicate with the children. Communication at the camp is almost exclusively in German and only in English in an emergency.
Please remember to bring some game ideas and music from your home countries!
Please note: The holiday offer is a voluntary open offer. Therefore, more or less children can participate on the days.

The Children's and Youth Leisure Centre (KJFZ) Wismar offers you a variety of indoor leisure activities like air hockey, billiards, darts and table football as well as an outdoor skate park, a table tennis table, a basketball court and a volleyball court. Bicycles are also available for excursions to the beautiful beaches of the Baltic Sea and the city centre of Wismar. The Hanseatic city of Wismar with its old harbour and old town is one of the most beautiful old Hanseatic cities on the Baltic coast.

You will be staying at the Children's and Youth Leisure Centre (KJFZ) in Wismar, where most of the children's holiday activities take place. You will all sleep together in one room on air beds. There are 3 showers, 5 toilets, a kitchen, a dining and meeting room and a leisure room with air hockey, billiards, darts and table football. You can also use a skate park, a table tennis table, a basketball court and a volleyball court in the outdoor area. You will cook together. Money for food will be provided. Vegetarian or vegan meals are possible. Please state any intolerances during registration.
Requisiti e materiali
You should have a good knowledge of German (at least B1 level), be able to ride a bike and an ability to work with children. Please bring some music and some ideas for games from your home country with you.

At the DRK Children's and Youth Leisure Centre in Wismar, children and young people meet to actively organise their leisure time and take advantage of educational opportunities.
The ijgd has been successfully running this workcamp with these project partners since 2009.
