Immersion Program is a four-day educational and cultural exchange

Project overview
The Taita hills rise from the Southeastern Nyika Plateau. They are ancient fault-block formation stretching south to Malawi through Eastern and Southern Tanzania. They sit almost cheek-by-jowl with one of the region’s recent volcanic ranges, the Chyulu Hills. The project is situated on the foot of the Sagalla Hills in Taita Taveta district in coastal part of Kenya. It is approximately 7-8 hours’ drive from Nairobi. Sagalla is remembered to be a home of the first missionaries in the early 1900 and these is evident with one of the first churches in Kenya still standing strong.
Project activities
Gideon Mosi Primary School is a relatively new institution was founded in 1990 and it has rapidly expanded to accommodate 293 boys and girls from class 1-8. The 8 Teachers at the Gideon Mosi Primary School are employed by the Teachers Service commission and they are qualified to teach all rounds from class 1-8. In cases where the teaching staff is not adequate, the Parents and Teachers Association employs teachers for a short duration of time to help bridge the obtaining gap.

Activating kids in the city camp and providing them with cross-cultural learning experience. Volunteers will do it by using various informal methods of teaching as well as small group techniques. The activities to be held by a team of volunteers may include the following: playing the games and performing music that are popular in the countries the volunteers represent; training kids to perform pieces of amateur drama; preparing festivals; providing intellectual and sport games as well as discussions; preparing quests to combine with excursions round the places of interest; organizing actions for peace and nature protection; leading and supporting kids in their work on the team projects within the topics related to the main theme of the summer. Volunteers are responsible for the day activities in the camp. The work can be quite hard, involving long working hours, requiring high level of commitment and responsibility. You will stay with campers from 10:00 to 17:00 (45-minute lunch is included) and spend about another hour to prepare and finalize next day activities and feedback. Working days are from Monday to Friday plus one duty Saturday; Sundays are days off except the one after arrival. The local participants are mainly youngsters from minority groups of Tallinn whose family s languages include Russian. Based on the previous year, we expect a number of kids/teens participants in one camp shift as up to 40. Volunteers will work in pairs facilitating and leading a smaller group of 10 - 12 children or less during the day and change the groups every 2-3 days.During the first three days of the workcamp after arrival, volunteers will be given the training on the camp methodology and some time to prepare themselves to meet the kids/teens on Monday and further carry out their tasks in the camp. For this reason, it is important to arrive on time.

There are 2 options possible (subject to availability, which will become clear by the start of the project):1) The premises of The Language School In Down-Town located on the 4th and 5th floors of a business building in the city centre. In summer time, a part of the school is reserved for the volunteers accommodation that includes several separate dormitory bedrooms, a fitted kitchen, a small dining area, a large shower area and two separate toilet cabins. Bed linen, towels, pillows and blankets will be provided, so you do NOT need to bring a sleeping bag unless you want so. For the reasons of security, volunteers will be issued only one set of keys. To facilitate a smooth and safe environment at school during the off-hours, the entrance to the school must be kept closed at all times. The access to the school and accommodation areas will be managed by long-term volunteers or school staff. Please be aware that between 01:00 a.m. and 09:00 a.m. the access to the building will be closed. Catering will be organized by the school on an agreement with the volunteers (selection of times, meals - provided or volunteers cook, etc.).2) A furnished shared apartment in the residential area of Tallinn. Volunteers will be issued two sets of keys. The apartment has three-four dormitory bedrooms and all necessary facilities, and it takes about 20 minutes to get to the city center by public transport. Public transport cards will be provided. Volunteers will cook their breakfast meals themselves (food for a standard European breakfast will be provided); dinner meals will be served at school between 18:00 and 19:00; lunches will be organized for the whole camp (including kids/teens) in the city centre.Please note: it is not possible to stay at any of the camp accommodation options before or after the camp arrival and departure days. If you need a place to stay before or after the workcamp dates, we can help you to book a hostel in Tallinn.

Special requirementsYou have to be really motivated to work with kids. Please provide a letter of your motivation along with the application form. An experience of working with children is an advantage. Your ideas and actual preparation to do the activities for kids are essential, so a successful volunteer will be required to meet the team online to discuss and complete some preliminary preparation. We ask you to bring some materials: postcards, posters, symbols of your country, music or popular national games etc., which can be used during your country presentation. We expect active volunteers with a good knowledge of history and culture of their country as well as with an ability and wish to present it to others in a creative way. B2 level of English is required. The age of volunteers is from 20 to 33. Please note that before making a final decision about your participation in the camp, the project coordinator will have a video interview with you.Participation feeWe ask participants to contribute 50 Euro towards the costs of general administration. If you apply for two shifts in a row the participation fee is 80 Euro. This fee has to be paid by bank transfer before the beginning of the camp. If you cannot make it, please contact your sending organization for a solution.

This project is organized for local children by The Language School In Down-Town and the non-profit educational association Alternative Language Programs Satellite (ALPS) as part of their annual activities on multicultural issues for youth. Some international teenage participants may randomly join. The common project s aim is to introduce the diversity of world cultures to children and provide them with good practices in intercultural communication using the learning-by-doing method and organizing alternative English language practice. The project gets youngsters familiar with customs and traditions of the countries from all over the world and encourages them to develop their cross-cultural thinking and tolerance as well as global thinking and individual initiative. This summer we offer you to participate in our project called KALEIDOSCOPE . We invite camp participants to discuss ideas of chaos and order, mess and harmony. Together, we will discover our own infinite potential and freedom to create new patterns of life, same way as we create patterns out of random single pieces of colourful glass twisting a kaleidoscope. We will learn how to find harmony in apparent disorder and use chaos as a tool for stress relief, how to turn imperfection into the source of true beauty and embrace uncertainty to make our life journey more successful, unique and vibrant. Camp participants will gain ideas and skills how to deal with millions of combinations of the world s reality. Meetings with local and/or international professionals in the field will take place. I campi di volontariato si svolgono nella spiaggia dell’Isola dei Conigli, zona A di Riserva Naturale e sito di deposizione della tartaruga marina Caretta caretta. I campi hanno una duplice finalità: contribuire alla tutela della spiaggia, intensamente frequentata a fini balneari, in modo da garantire le condizioni ambientali idonee all’ovodeposizione di Caretta caretta, controllando l’impatto antropico sul sito; sorvegliare e proteggere i nidi di Caretta caretta, dalla deposizione alla schiusa. Questi campi sono una grande occasione per quanti, appassionati della natura, vogliono prendersene cura svolgendo attività utili ed entusiasmanti, in uno dei luoghi più belli di Lampedusa e del Mediterraneo, meritevole di essere salvaguardato per la sua bellezza e per la sua grande importanza naturalistica.
Lavoro
Il campo prevede lo svolgimento di turni giornalieri di 6 ore circa e, all’occorrenza, turni notturni di 8–10 ore. I turni giornalieri sono finalizzati al controllo della balneazione, mediante sorveglianza ed attività di informazione e sensibilizzazione dei bagnanti, in modo da far rispettare i regolamenti vigenti nella riserva. Dalle 8 alle 20.00 i volontari si alterneranno per coprire due postazioni fisse: una all'ingresso della Riserva e una sulla spiaggia. All'ingresso, i volontari forniranno informazioni ai visitatori e forniranno supporto agli operatori nelle attività di controllo degli accessi alla spiaggia. In spiaggia, i volontari sorveglieranno gli eventuali nidi deposti, saranno punto di riferimento per quanti vogliono conoscere la biologia riproduttiva di Caretta caretta e svolgeranno attività di sensibilizzazione nei confronti dei turisti (inviteranno al rispetto delle norme comportamentali da osservare, effettueranno la pulizia dell’arenile, ecc.). I volontari, inoltre, collaboreranno nelle attività di rilevamento dei dati sulla fruizione e saranno di sostegno agli operatori della riserva per il rilevamento dei dati sui nidi di tartaruga e sui piccoli. I turni notturni si svolgeranno presso la struttura ubicata all'ingresso della riserva e sono finalizzati ad impedire l’accesso in spiaggia di eventuali visitatori durante la notte, che potrebbero pregiudicare gli eventi di nidificazione della tartaruga. Durante le schiuse dei nidi i turni notturni si svolgeranno in spiaggia. I volontari parteciperanno anche alle attività di salvaguardia e sorveglianza (diurna e notturna) di eventuali nidi deposti in altre spiagge dell’isola che rientrano nelle competenze dell'Ente Gestore della Riserva. I volontari, a turno, si occuperanno anche della preparazione dei pasti e della pulizia dell’alloggio.

Molto più vicina all’Africa che alla Sicilia, Lampedusa appartiene all’Arcipelago delle Pelagie. Nel 1996 la Regione Siciliana ha istituito la Riserva Naturale “Isola di Lampedusa”, gestita da Legambiente Sicilia. L’area protetta si estende per circa 360 ettari lungo un’ampia fascia incontaminata della costa meridionale dell’isola ed è finalizzata alla conservazione delle espressioni più significative della fauna e della flora presenti sul territorio. La spiaggia dei Conigli è stata per anni oggetto di ogni forma di abuso e degrado, ma grazie agli interventi di recupero ambientale, controllo e sensibilizzazione dell’Ente Gestore oggi è un modello di gestione e promozione di un turismo sostenibile, che ha saputo coniugare conservazione della natura con la fruizione del territorio.

Attività formative
All’inizio di ogni campo i volontari parteciperanno ad un incontro formativo presso la sede della Riserva (tenuto dal personale della Riserva), durante il quale verranno fornite le principali informazioni sull’area protetta (storia, caratteristiche, regolamento, ecc.), sulla biologia della tartaruga marina e sulle attività che si svolgeranno durante il campo.

I volontari saranno ospitati in un appartamento ubicato in centro.
Requisiti e materiali
Il campo è particolarmente impegnativo, poiché prevede una turnazione continua per garantire il controllo del sito h24. Buona attitudine a camminare; buone condizioni fisiche, capacità di svolgere le attività anche con particolari condizioni climatiche (essere in grado di trascorrere diverse ore sotto il sole, ma anche in presenza di vento, umidità, pioggia, zanzare…).

Intercultural and Language (ICL) – Nakhon Ratchasima, learning and sharing the
intercultural and language still are the main purpose. Volunteers will share and exchange
culture, language, and knowledge with the local community and students in the school.
English as the global language and intercultural learning are important for local Thai people
to understand and be for global citizens. English is also the gateway to open mind and
knowledge. The project was created by VSA Thailand and has been successful for eight
years. Former volunteers came to give the opportunity for children in schools and the local
community. Many local people improved their English skills through exchanging with
international volunteers, or at least they try to speak the English language more and dare
to face and work with the foreigner even though they cannot speak English. Moreover,
volunteers’ activities impacted the local community. They used to stay lively and trusty
with the foreigner. Local people have a chance to learn, accept, and adopt the ways of life
with the different cultures.
Ban Krogluek School is a primary school, there are about 10 teachers and 100 students from
kindergarten (2-6 years old), pratomsuksa 1-6 (7-12 years old). VSA has sent volunteers
to this School since 2015.
Ban Maab Grad School is a primary school, there are about 9 teachers, 1 janitor and 60
students from kindergarten (2-6 years old), pratomsuksa 1-6 (7-12 years old). VSA has
sent volunteers to this School since 2022.

VOLUNTEER WORK: At Green & Away, the host tailors the internships to the applicants’ areas of interest and what skills you would like to develop. During your time with Green & Away you could run one long project, or a portfolio of smaller projects, all with a focus on sustainability, ecotourism and outdoor living.
Past Projects have included:
• Writing a strategy for the charity
• Designing and Maintaining educational boards and signs
• Doing a carbon footprint analysis
• Helping with the social media
• Designing and running educational workshops for Green & Away Volunteers
Green & Away runs via a number of “departments” and alongside your individual project, you will be tasked with responsibilities within one or several of these departments (you can tell us about your preferences in your application). You are advised to read the departmental descriptions and think about which parts interest you, as well as what skills you have and could lend to us for our summer season. The departments are as follows:

LOCATION & LEISURE: Green & Away is set up on the outskirts of a small village near Worcester, the nearest shop and post office is two miles away. The site is situated close to a village which has some small activities going on and is roughly 5-6 miles from Worcester with a direct bus. Volunteers can travel quite freely to a big city. More immediately the site is located to a café with walking trails and a river for swimming bordering the camp. The nearest hospital is 9 miles away.

ACCOMMODATION & FOOD: Green & Away takes place outdoors and under canvas. You will need your own tent; however, we may be able to arrange one for you if you are unable to bring one and you let us know in advance. Full board is provided (three vegetarian/vegan meals a day and regular tea breaks with cake!). The site has hot showers, clothes washing facilities and composting toilets. All safety equipment you may require will be provided.
A licensed bar with subsidised pricing, comfortable seating areas, and arts and crafts facilities come as and when we have built them. There is Wi-Fi and phone/laptop charging facilities. Please note, when you first arrive the field will be almost empty (although our toilets and showers will be operating), so please be prepared for this).
IMPORTANT: – Even in the British Summertime it can be VERY COLD AT NIGHT – please ensure you bring enough warm clothes. Wet weather clothing and footwear is also strongly recommended, as the site can get muddy and even the summer can bring a rainy day.
Requisiti e materiali
For Green and Away it is really important the volunteer understands what we are about (environmental charity, not a music festival!) and the circumstances of the facilities (outdoor showers and camping). Green & Away need volunteers to have a good level of English so that instructions can be followed (especially during setup and takedown) which is integral to the safety of themselves and everyone they are working with. A pre-approval interview over the phone will be organised with the host after applications.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS AND HOW TO APPLY: Volunteers must enjoy being outside, be motivated to work hard to create a beautiful and functional site, have an interest in community life, and a desire to learn about living in an environmentally sustainable way. A motivation letter is required. Volunteers must also speak a good level of English. All applicants will fill in an application pack and have an interview with the host before acceptance on to the project.
All applicants will receive a Zoom call to check their English level is high enough; the hosts need to check that you can understand health and safety instructions etc.
ACCESSIBILITY: Volunteers need to have a good level of physical fitness and be confident walking on uneven ground outside.
UK VISA COSTS: If the volunteer needs a VISA to enter the UK, an additional £25 needs to be paid to Concordia to cover the cost of the VISA sponsorship certificate. Volunteers will need to pay £298 for a Tier Five Charity VISA. Green & Away will be able to part-subsidise a certain number of volunteers travel costs.

PROJECT: Green & Away are a registered educational charity, that organise, build and run Europe's only tented, sustainable conference centre - a temporary eco-village, situated on a farm in the west of England. Each summer they bring a community of around 100 volunteers from across the world together to create the site, facilitate events, and take down this beautiful and unique project. Green & Away provides an outdoor low impact venue to host many different events. Our purpose is to provide a space for environmental and social education through hosting sustainable events and volunteer education programmes.
Successful applicants for the internship programme should work well as part of a team and also independently, enjoy taking on new challenges and responsibilities, and have an interest in sustainability, charity work, ecotourism, and outdoor living. You will gain considerable management experience and learn about the challenges involved in sustainable living and environmental education.
Green & Away is an entirely volunteer-run organisation and as an educational charity, teaching our interns has been an integral part of our work for over ten years. All interns are expected to stay on site throughout the season and are provided with three vegetarian meals a day and a space to pitch your own tent. If you would struggle to bring your own tent or sleeping equipment, we can provide you with one of our spares.
Green & Away is looking for several passionate and hardworking individuals to join the summer internship programme. The programme is varied and adaptable to suit you and your interests. What we can offer you is a place to learn new skills, meet a range of different people and learn about sustainability, environmental education, and running a charitable organisation. During this lively festival, people throw colored powders and water to share blessings and celebrate a bountiful harvest. Originally a Hindu tradition, Holi is now celebrated by many, including non-Hindus across South Asia and beyond. The festivities include gathering with family and friends, playing music, and enjoying special foods and drinks. Volunteers help prepare and celebrate the Holi festival in the community.

Beyond the practical tasks, the workcamp offers a unique and immersive experience. When the castle closes its doors to the public in the evenings, it becomes the volunteers' home, a place where they can experience the privilege of inhabiting a medieval site. In this way, they take on the role of stewards, caring for the space as if it were their own. The experience encourages a sense of responsibility, ownership, and connection to heritage, reinforcing the idea that heritage sites thrive not only through large-scale restoration projects but also through the daily care and attention given to them by those who value their existence.

Lohra Castle is situated in the heart of Germany in Northern Thuringia. The castle, which is surrounded by a scenic hilly landscape, is located on the edge of a nature reserve area. Being one of the largest castles in Thuringia, the history of the castle Lohra begins in the Middle Age. The castle is more than 1,000 years old. Today, it includes twenty buildings from different times: medieval fortifications, remnants of a tower from the 11th century, a Romanesque chapel, a manor house from the Renaissance period as well as stables and granaries from the 19th and the early 20th centuries. The ensemble is situated in the centre of a beautiful forest. For years Lohra Castle was vacant. In the 1990s Open Houses started to restore the castle and to revive it by cultural activities. Since that time, a large number of Workcamps, Building Weeks, exhibitions, concerts and other activities with international participants took place in the castle.

In most of Open Houses' camps the volunteers will live at the same places they also work on, what means that they live more or less on a building site. In most of the Heritage Volunteers Projects the accommodation is located in a certain distance to the working site.
The accommodation is usually very simple; there are shared rooms with simple beds or mattresses at most of the places. Shower, toilet and kitchen are at the place, but sometimes not in the same building. The equipment is simple but fair. After work, when everybody wants to take a shower, there can be a limit of hot water.
The meals will be prepared together as they are part of the community life, what means that every participant will be responsible for the meal at least once during its stay. So it would be very nice if the participants could bring typical recipes from home in order to introduce each other to the preparation of food from all over the world.

Open Houses – rooms open for those who come along. Open Houses – not empty buildings, but places with visible and invisible traces of history, places which have grown and decayed over the centuries, places which were shaped by those people who lived there long ago as well those who left only yesterday – places which will be shaped by those who live there or who come as a guest. Open Houses – rooms which want to be filled with dreams and ideas, with meetings and exchange, by people of different backgrounds, different cultures, different generations and different ideas and visions. The history of Open Houses Network dates back to the mid-1980s, when a group of young people started to restore village churches in East Germany in voluntary work to protect them from decay. The engagement for these buildings united people who enjoyed the freedom these activities provided and who filled these rooms with life again in ways which by far exceed the craftsmen's work done – through exhibitions, concerts, making music together or just sitting by the camp fire. Meanwhile, rooms free of political and ideological pressure are no longer urgently required; however, places have become rare where people can meet without commercial pressure, free of bureaucracy and institutionalism, free of nepotism and the exclusion which it produces. What should be easy – to go somewhere in order to meet people and to work together – has become difficult. The tightrope walk between, on the one hand, public activities in a monetary and functional sense, and the retreat into private life on the other, is very difficult, and it requires a lot of power and permanent efforts to tackle red tape and financial restrictions. Free spaces are less and less understood as common property, and are permanently being cut back. The idea of public property seems to have gone out of fashion, and places of common responsible work have become rare. Open Houses Network tries to create and protect such spaces. In this process, we do not want to be the doers, but be people who have a vision, who want to initiate something, but who also are aware of depending on the co-operation of others. We understand our projects and events as offers – as offers to create space for commitment, for changes, for meetings.

The main task is harvesting various berries and vegetables such as rhubarb, currants, raspberries, Japanese quince, then helping juice making and products packaging. It is important to understand that it is calm and quiet place (there are no events in the village). But with nice weather, it is possible to watch animals like deer on the field, foxes in a strawberry bed and storks. While sitting by the fire at night, enjoy stars in the sky and listen to the nature sounds by animals such as badgers or raccoons.Leisure timeIt is possible to swim, make a fire, play volleyball, disc golf and other games or go for mushroom picking if you like it. There is a swimming lake in Valgjarv 4 km away. You can use various hiking trails. Farm life conditions are simple but decent. Sleeping is in a separate house in beds. Bed sheets, blankets and pillows are provided, so no need for sleeping bag. There is outdoor kitchen with all necessary equipment. Volunteers can make breakfast and lunch themselves, and dinner will be prepared by and taken with the family. Washing is in the sauna. There is a dry organic toilet. Volunteers have to take care of their surroundings by cleaning up after themselves.

In the shelter we carry out different tasks, the main one is feeding, once all the
animals are enjoying their food, we start with the cleaning tasks in the different
enclosures.
The work to be done is physical, we have to work with wheelballows, both to deed the animals and when we clean, such as using a shovel and rake to clean the enclosures.
On the other hand, two tasks are carried out in the afternoons, but they are shared in shifts among all volunteers during the week.
One of them is to go to two supermarkets to look for food that they donate to us, which is useful for both us and the animals, and the other task is to give a snack to the pigs, ducks and some wheelbarrows of hay to the horses if they no longer like them. nothing left.

AccommodationThere are 2 options possible (subject to availability, which will become clear by the beginning of the camp):1) In the premises of The Language School In Down-Town located on the 4th and 5th floors of a business building in the city centre. In summer time, a part of the school is reserved for the camp participants accommodation that includes several separate dormitory bedrooms, a fitted kitchen, a dining area, a large shower area and two separate toilet cabins. Apart from bedrooms, the tea-room for rest will be also organized where teenagers might watch films, read and play board games enjoying soft sofas. Bed linen, pillows and blankets will be provided, so you do NOT need to bring a sleeping bag unless you want so. For the reasons of security, minimum one school staff member and one volunteer will be staying with camp participants overnights to maintain life, catering and general order on the site. To facilitate a smooth and safe environment at school during the off-hours, the entrance to the school must be kept closed at all times. The access to the school and accommodation areas will be managed by long-term volunteers or school staff. Please be aware that you must be inside by 22:00 the latest unless supervised outside by a school staff member. Participants will have breakfasts and dinners at school, lunches i together with other camp participants.2) In the host families of some of local participants who will join this camp. The apartments of the host families may be located in Tallinn or its suburbs. Participants will stay in a separate or shared room. You do NOT need a sleeping bag. Special requirementsWe will welcome any ideas to improve the program and your active participation in it. English is the camp language. The age of international camp participants is 14 i 16. International language camp is organized for teenagers by The Language School In Down-Town and the non-profit educational association Alternative Language Programs Satellite (ALP S) as part of their annual activities on multicultural issues for youth. The project s aim is to introduce the diversity of world cultures to the youth and provide them with good practices in intercultural communication by means of alternative English language practice which includes meetings, visits and direct contacts to young people from abroad. The project gets teens of 14 to 16 years old familiar with national traditions of the countries from all over the world, encourages them to develop their global thinking and individual initiative, tolerance and resistance to xenophobia and ethnic hatred. Camps give foreign participants a great chance to meet youngsters both from Estonia and other countries as well as to experience local life. This summer we offer you to participate in our project called KALEIDOSCOPE . We invite camp participants to discuss ideas of chaos and order, mess and harmony. Together, we will discover our own infinite potential and freedom to create new patterns of life, same way as we create patterns out of random single pieces of colourful glass twisting a kaleidoscope. We will learn how to find harmony in apparent disorder and use chaos as a tool for stress relief, how to turn imperfection into the source of true beauty and embrace uncertainty to make our life journey more successful, unique and vibrant. Camp participants will gain ideas and skills how to deal with a million of combinations of the world s reality.Meetings with local and/or international professionals in the field will take place. l progetto ha lo scopo di valorizzare Le Balze, sono dei Calanchi naturali creati dall'azione corrosiva delle acque di un lago del Pliocenico, quando tutto il Valdarno era un lago appunto e il fiume Arno ancora non esisteva. Questa parte di territorio toscano, caratterizzato da guglie, piccoli canyon, immersi in una fitta vegetazione di tipo appenninico. In collaborazione con le associazioni di promozione locali, i gruppi trekking , il museo paleontologico, l'associazione Protezione Civile di Montevarchi, il Circolo di Legambiente, vuole promuovere un lavoro di manutenzione e sistemazione della sentieristica per favorire la conoscenza del territorio con un turismo lento di rispetto dei luoghi per la conoscenza di angoli che altrimenti non sarebbero visitati. Tutelare insomma l’ecosistema di questa area naturale sotto il profilo ambientale e culturale, attraverso la valorizzazione dell’aspetto storico-geologico, caratterizzato da una particolare conformazione geomorfologica che genera un tipico sistema paesaggistico di pregio. Il Campo si concluderà con la partecipazione volontaria e gratuita alla "Camminata per la Setteponti" che si svolgerà dal 13 al 15 giugno, con partenza dalla Pieve Romanica di Cascia a Reggello fino a Ponte Buriano , dove l’Arno “gira le spalle” ad Arezzo. Progetto di Citizen Scienze con UniSi, di monitoraggio della qualità dell'acqua dell'Arno e dei suoi affluenti. Lo stesso progetto si è sviluppato con un’esperienza di educazione ambientale per la scuole superiori “Oroblu. La Cultura dell’acqua tra ambiente e legalità”. AccommodationThere are 2 options possible (subject to availability, which will become clear by the beginning of the camp):1) In the premises of The Language School In Down-Town located on the 4th and 5th floors of a business building in the city centre. In summer time, a part of the school is reserved for the camp participants accommodation that includes several separate dormitory bedrooms, a fitted kitchen, a dining area, a large shower area and two separate toilet cabins. Apart from bedrooms, the tea-room for rest will be also organized where teenagers might watch films, read and play board games enjoying soft sofas. Bed linen, pillows and blankets will be provided, so you do NOT need to bring a sleeping bag unless you want so. For the reasons of security, minimum one school staff member and one volunteer will be staying with camp participants overnights to maintain life, catering and general order on the site. To facilitate a smooth and safe environment at school during the off-hours, the entrance to the school must be kept closed at all times. The access to the school and accommodation areas will be managed by long-term volunteers or school staff. Please be aware that you must be inside by 22:00 the latest unless supervised outside by a school staff member. Participants will have breakfasts and dinners at school, lunches i together with other camp participants.2) In the host families of some of local participants who will join this camp. The apartments of the host families may be located in Tallinn or its suburbs. Participants will stay in a separate or shared room. You do NOT need a sleeping bag. Travel cards will be provided, pick up service at arrival is provided upon request.Please note: it is not possible to stay at any of the camp accommodation options before or after the camp arrival and departure days. Special requirementsWe will welcome any ideas to improve the program and your active participation in it. English is the camp language. The age of international camp participants is 14 i 16. Please be aware that during the day program of the camp the participants will be asked to leave their cell phones at their accommodation site to ensure safety of the participants and their engagement with the camp activities. To assure a safe environment for all the campers, we expect all our camp participants will provide their parents letter of consent (Parental Authorization) and travel insurance certificate.Participation feeUnlike the traditional voluntary camp, there will be mostly informal educational activities and guided language practice. Camp program implementation involves costs for boarding and lodging, domestic transport, materials, excursions, visits, cultural activities and general administration. Since neither EstYES, nor its partner ALPS receive any financial support for this camp from state or municipality, to make the camp happen we have to charge a participation fee from 350 to 600 Euro depending on the duration of the camp shift. This is a separate fee that is different from your country sending organization s fee you pay at home. It has to be paid by participants upon arrival to the camp or by bank transfer prior to the start of the camp. If you prefer fee to be paid in cash on arrival please contact us.

International language camp is organized for teenagers by The Language School In Down-Town and the non-profit educational association Alternative Language Programs Satellite (ALP S) as part of their annual activities on multicultural issues for youth. The project s aim is to introduce the diversity of world cultures to the youth and provide them with good practices in intercultural communication by means of alternative English language practice which includes meetings, visits and direct contacts to young people from abroad. The project gets teens of 14 to 16 years old familiar with national traditions of the countries from all over the world, encourages them to develop their global thinking and individual initiative, tolerance and resistance to xenophobia and ethnic hatred. Camps give foreign participants a great chance to meet youngsters both from Estonia and other countries as well as to experience local life. This summer we offer you to participate in our project called KALEIDOSCOPE . We invite camp participants to discuss ideas of chaos and order, mess and harmony. Together, we will discover our own infinite potential and freedom to create new patterns of life, same way as we create patterns out of random single pieces of colourful glass twisting a kaleidoscope. We will learn how to find harmony in apparent disorder and use chaos as a tool for stress relief, how to turn imperfection into the source of true beauty and embrace uncertainty to make our life journey more successful, unique and vibrant. Camp participants will gain ideas and skills how to deal with a million of combinations of the world s reality.Meetings with local and/or international professionals in the field will take place. Thematic photo and video contests for camp participants will be organized.

Come and take part in the project to protect several natural sites in the Basque Country! The programme includes guided tours with specialists from the Department and the Conservatoire des Espaces Naturels to discover the flora and fauna on site, as well as a range of different tasks: cutting down and removing invasive exotic species on wet moorland, repairing and installing fences in the mountains, creating sunbathing stations for the European pond terrapin (tortoise)... You'll have the opportunity to work on different sites in the middle of nature!

Don't forget to bring work clothes and shoes that won't get dirty.
In the mountains, despite the sunshine, the weather is surprising and can change rapidly.
For leisure activities, you'll need to pack clothes suited to the climate (warm fleece or jumper, shorts and hiking trousers, windbreaker, down jacket, warm socks, etc.). For hiking, high-top, notched shoes are recommended. Don't forget sun protection (a hat or cap is essential, sunglasses with a high protection factor because of the intense reflection, sun cream with a high protection factor IP 30-50, etc.) and a swimming costume for swimming or white-water activities.
For accommodation, remember to bring a warm sleeping bag and a towel. You should also bring a rucksack (in addition to your luggage), comfortable trainers and a pair of flip-flops. You'll also need to pack these essential accessories: a mobile phone charger, hiking poles (not compulsory, but recommended), a water bottle, a set of bandages and a headlamp or torch.
Social events will be organised in collaboration with our leaders and according to your wishes. In particular, we'll be organising themed evenings in each country. If you'd like to share a little of your culture (recipes, traditional stories, unusual objects, music, etc.), don't hesitate to take it with you.

You will be accommodated in individual tents, with sanitary facilities, kitchen and communal living area in the small village of Itxassou at the foot of the mountains. You will share the various collective tasks and prepare meals together. A budget will be allocated to the leaders, and you will help with the shopping and meal preparation, giving priority to healthy, local produce.
Together, you'll help organise community life (cleaning, activities, etc.) and take turns preparing meals using locally sourced produce. Our aim is to encourage vegetarian eating using local, seasonal products, while respecting participants' diets and discovering local cuisine together.
No wifi & hand wash for clothes.

The Basque mountains are characterised by the presence of small wetlands on the slopes, known as peat bogs, in the middle of pastures and moors.
There are also other wetlands along the banks of the River Adour, known as barthes. These areas are subject to various pressures, including invasive alien species, pastoralism and tourism. The various sites you will be working on, the Mondarrain and Sare peat bogs and the Mouguerre and Lahonce barthes, are protected natural areas managed by the Pyrenees Atlantiques department and the Conservatoire des espaces naturels. A whole host of actions are necessary throughout the year to preserve these fragile environments, so you'll be taking part in this work and supporting the teams on site. Numerous awareness-raising missions are also carried out throughout the year with schoolchildren and local residents to raise awareness of the remarkable animal and plant species. The workcamp will not only be an opportunity to help preserve these unique places, but also to discover all their secrets thanks to the many specialists who will be on hand to show you around the site.

You'll be helping to restore this site, known as Place Molines. Following numerous consultations with village residents, objectives for the transformation of this place were listed. In 2024, volunteers created trellises to provide shade and seating. This year, a wooden kiosk-type shelter will be built on the square to enhance the facilities of this new square. In this way, you'll be helping to design a friendly, intergenerational leisure area, bringing freshness to the site by creating this shaded space, enhancing the setting: river Tarn, views of the Mont Lozere massif, peace and quiet, and finally making the place welcoming, safe and clean. 25h/week

The workcamp will take place in the commune of Pont-de-Montvert, near Mont-Lozere in the heart of the Cevennes. The aim of the project is to help build a new town square. This square has historically been home to sports facilities, in particular the former tennis courts in the village. However, since their closure, this space has been more or less left to its own devices, serving as a parking lot and occasional storage area. Since 2018, the commune has planted trees and hedges and installed a playground for the village's children. Your mission: to continue beautifying and transforming this square so that it becomes a place for village gatherings and activities.

You will work for thirteen mornings, six hours each, restoring a new section of the northern facade of the redoubt facing the Atlantic Ocean. Tasks include removing vegetation from the facade and crowning stones, de-jointing, and re-jointing with lime mortar. Additional traditional masonry work, such as repairing stone crowns and stone carving, is also planned. Furthermore, you will participate in workshops on intercultural awareness and sustainable development.

You can enjoy a wide range of water-based activities, such as fishing and sailing with the local clubs. The beach, seaside bike rides, beach volleyball and other surprises are all there for you to discover. You can also visit museums and towns such as La Rochelle and Rochefort. The highlights of your stay will be getting to know the locals, who will be eagerly awaiting your arrival, especially at the table for an international meal.

Group accommodation in tents at the Fouras *** campsite (swimming pool, multi-sports area, WIFI, snack bar...). You must bring your own warm duvet and pillow. Bicycles are available for use around town. Food will be provided for breakfast, lunch and dinner (you will have a food budget that the leaders will manage and communicate with you throughout the work camp). Meals will be prepared in turn by you, especially for lunch and dinner, while respecting environmental values and local resources, as well as everyone's culture (hot and cold dishes as well as vegetarian and vegan dishes will be prepared).
