SEEDS volunteers will take on a variety of activities, depending on weather conditions and the needs of our partners including working in the forestry section and vegetable greenhouses in the EcoVillage, as well as participating in a nationwide project to raise awareness of ocean pollution, plastic waste, and engage the group in hands-on cleanup efforts in the area, allowing volunteers to make a direct impactThe camp is based at Alviora, which offers a range of activities to connect people with nature, such as community gardens, wildlife workshops, school programs, and hikes. As part of the camp, volunteers help maintain the center through tasks like gardening, renovating the house and other projects such as removing old fences to protect wildlife, marking walking paths, and potentially do forestry work like trimming or planting trees.This camp combines learning, sharing, hands-on work and fun. No previous experience is needed. Volunteers should be prepared to share environmental issues from their home countries and be ready to spend time outdoors. Volunteers should be ready to adapt and be flexible with the work and free-time schedule. Depending on the weather, we may not be able to perform some of the activities as planned.

he accommodation is located an hour drive south-east from Reykjavik. The house serves as an environmental-educational centre and sits under Ingolfsfjall, The Mountain of Ingolfur, with a view of Eyjafjallajokull where the volcanic eruptions began in March and April 2010. The place is registered as natural Icelandic heritage; the nature, vegetation and birdlife is rich in variety and quantity. The volunteers can enjoy outdoor activities in a peaceful and beautiful location with a small stream and a pond nearby. Hiking trails with maps about cultural heritage can be found throughout the area, which is a popular attraction among both foreign and local visitors. The nearest town, Selfoss, only 10 minutes-drive away, with 6500 inhabitants, is a centre of commerce and small industries where you find a geothermal swimming pool, shops, museums, cafes and bars.

SEEDS volunteers stay in an old farm which has been transformed into an environmental education centre. The facilities are basic with an equipped kitchen, dining and living room, bathroom, shower and a washing machine. Volunteers sleep in shared rooms, with up to 6 people per room. Please bring your own sleeping bag and towel.Volunteers will receive food supplies and will be in charge of cooking and cleaning. Please note the food SEEDS provides will be vegetarian. Do not forget to bring some traditional/typical food, drinks, recipes, music, games or movies from your country for the intercultural evening. Please be aware some items or ingredients may be expensive in Iceland and you will need to buy them yourselves or bring them from your country.

Collaborare con lo staff dell’ostello negli ultimi preparativi significa dare una mano in tante attività diverse: dalla creazione delle decorazioni all’allestimento degli spazi interni ed esterni, preparando le aree dedicate a workshop, market, swap party, presentazioni di libri e concerti. Inoltre, sarà importante aiutare nelle pulizie, sia prima che dopo gli eventi, per prenderci cura insieme del luogo che ci ospita. Chi ama sperimentare in cucina potrà cimentarsi nella preparazione di un piccolo menù per la giornata, da condividere con gli altri partecipanti.

Dall’inizio di Settembre 2013, grazie alla gestione di Legambiente, è possibile alloggiare presso l’Eremo del Monte Barro. Da qui è possibile godere delle bellezze di questo Parco Regionale: dalle viste mozzafiato sul Lario, sulle montagne e sui laghi briantei, alla ricchezza di storia, archeologia e biodiversità che ci regala questo ambiente naturale protetto.
L’ostello, che dispone di 50 posti letto, è diviso in due parti: il settore Orchidea, con camere da 2, 3 o 4 posti tutte con bagno e doccia privato e il settore Scoiattolo, con camere da 2, 3 o 4 posti e lavandino interno alla camera, ma con bagni e docce comuni sul piano. Entrambi i settori inoltre dispongono di una cucina e una sala pranzo per la preparazione in autonomia di pasti. Quasi tutte le camere dell’ostello sono dotate di un balcone privato.
Le sale comuni offrono il servizio wi-fi gratuito e zone relax.
È possibile soggiornare come famiglie, singolarmente o con gruppi organizzati; vi è inoltre l’opportunità di riservare un settore (o tutta la struttura) per organizzare propri momenti di formazione o incontro.

I volontari potranno partecipare agli eventi culturali organizzati nel corso del festival.

Requisiti e materiali
Partecipare a questo campo di volontariato significa entrare in un'esperienza collettiva dove si lavora insieme per dare vita a un eco-festival. Non servono competenze particolari, ma tanta voglia di mettersi in gioco. Porta con te abiti comodi e che si possono sporcare, scarpe robuste: i volontari e le volontarie saranno coinvolte in attività pratiche e organizzative, sempre in un clima di collaborazione e rispetto reciproco. Ci sta a cuore la cura: degli spazi, dell’ambiente e delle persone. Per questo chiediamo attenzione alle pratiche sostenibili e disponibilità a condividere tempo, energie e idee.

Legambiente Lecco Onlus nasce originariamente nel 1978 come Comitato Difesa Ambiente ed entra a far parte nel 1988 di Legambiente, associazione ambientalista senza fini di lucro che conta a livello nazionale circa 600 circoli locali, 18 comitati regionali e oltre 100.000 soci. Legambiente imposta la propria attività su solide basi scientifiche che le hanno garantito nel tempo autorità e credibilità anche da parte delle istituzioni sia a livello locale sia a livello nazionale. Legambiente Onlus è inoltre un’associazione riconosciuta dal Ministero dell’Ambiente come Associazione d’interesse ambientale; fa parte del Bureau Européen dell’Environnement (B.E.E.) e della International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Infine è membro dal 1997 dell'Alliance of European Voluntary Service Organisations, organismo internazionale NGO che raggruppa le maggiori realtà associative europee che intendono promuovere l'educazione interculturale, l'integrazione e la pace attraverso il volontariato. L'obiettivo principale del gruppo è quello di lavorare per sviluppare stili di vita sostenibili in equilibrio con l'ambiente, di cui l'uomo è parte integrante.
Per trasmettere i suoi valori, il circolo aderisce alle campagne nazionali di Legambiente, gestisce un eco-ostello, gestisce un progetto Piedibus per la città di Lecco, organizza progetti europei e campi di volontariato internazionali e nazionali, svolge attività di educazione ambientale nelle scuole, propone soggiorni estivi per bambini, ragazzi e anziani, offre percorsi formativi, workshop ed esperienze di sostenibilità.
Dal 2013 il circolo di Legambiente Lecco ha deciso di intraprendere una nuova avventura con l’apertura dell’Ostello Parco Monte Barro, struttura in stato di semi-abbandono inserita all’interno dell’Eremo del Parco Regionale del Monte Barro (LC) che rappresenta ora una delle attività principali del circolo (www.ostelloparcobarro.it).
Sempre più spesso Legambiente Lecco propone anche altri progetti attraverso cui valorizzare, in modo ambientalmente sostenibile, percorsi sul territorio a valenza turistica come i trekking ‘Eco Urban Walk’ lungo i Corridoi Blu di Lecco (Gerenzone, Caldone e Bione) e la promozione del cammino ‘Sentiero Pedemonte’ che accompagna la linea ferroviaria Como-Lecco.
Oltre alle attività di valorizzazione turistica, tra le attività svolte da Legambiente Lecco si possono citare:
• salvaguardia della biodiversità degli ecosistemi, in particolare quello prealpino;
• campagne di protezione di specie animali a rischio (campagna salvataggio anfibi nel triangolo lariano: rospo comune Bufo Bufo);
• sensibilizzazione del territorio nella gestione dei rifiuti in accordo con la normativa europea: in particolare sulla riduzione degli imballaggi, l’abbandono, l'abolizione della plastica usa e getta in favore di prodotti più sostenibili e la crescita della raccolta differenziata (clean-up estivi, campagna ‘Puliamo il Mondo’);
• monitoraggio e collaborazione con le istituzioni relativamente alla salvaguardia delle coste lacustri e alla qualità delle acque (campagna ‘Spiagge e Fondali Puliti’ e ‘Goletta dei Laghi’);
• rapporto con le istituzioni su tematiche quali consumo di suolo e salvaguardia degli ecosistemi (eventi sulla salvaguardia delle aree umide, campagna ‘Carovana dei ghiacciai’);
• promozione della legalità e lotta (in rete con altre associazioni del territorio) alle ecomafie;
• sviluppo di progettualità in merito alla lotta agli sprechi, soprattutto di carattere alimentare (progetto "Mercato Sprecato") e adesione alla rete ‘Save The Food’;
• proposta di eventi culturali e percorsi formativi centrati sulla tematica multiforme della sostenibilità (Hack4Tourism, FestAmbiente Monte Barro);
• partecipazione a manifestazioni ed eventi su temi propri dell’associazione (PreCop26 a Milano, Pride a Lecco, Youth Climate Meeting nazionali e regionali);
A queste sono da aggiungere le attività sviluppate dagli operatori di Legambiente Lecco:
• gestione del Servizio Piedibus per la Città di Lecco e, in collaborazione con il Comune di Lecco e la Fondazione Bruno Kessler, di diverse altre campagne di mobilità sostenibile (KidsGoGreen, Play&Go…);
• coordinamento e organizzazione di progetti di volontariato a breve e lungo termine (campi di volontariato internazionali e nazionali, scambi di giovani del programma Erasmus+, Servizio Civile, Corpi Europei di Solidarietà);
• sviluppo di progettualità europea legata alle tematiche associative;
• educazione ambientale nelle scuole (primarie, secondarie di primo grado, secondarie di secondo grado) e realizzazione di soggiorni estivi di educazione ambientale per bambini tra gli 8 e i 13 anni (Vacanze Natura);
• organizzazione di incontri formali, escursioni e dibattiti volti alla formazione ambientale dei cittadini;
• organizzazione di giornate di mobilitazione, campagne di sensibilizzazione ed eventi divulgativi;
• gestione e preservazione di aree naturali, oasi protette e zone ad interesse paesaggistico e ambientale (manutenzione ambientale dell’area naturale Palude di Brivio e valorizzazione della ZPS Il Toffo).
L’associazione è composta attualmente da 8 membri del consiglio direttivo, una ventina di soci attivi e circa 200 soci annuali. A questi si aggiungono un numero di volontari abituali delle iniziative che non sono però associati.

Volunteers are recommended to arrive at Japan by the day before the workcamp starts and leave Japan from the day after the end. Volunteers need to arrive at the meeting point at 14:00 on 1st day (then, take a local train to the campsite about 2.5 hours) and can leave project site around 13:00 on last day.

This project is actively working for SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDGs 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), organized together with the local group since 2019. This village has been welcoming "Ohenro (pilgrims)" who visit 88 temples in Shikoku since long time ago. The pilgrims walk through this village before visiting "Kakurin-ji temple"; the 20th temple out of 88 temples of the Shikoku Ohenro Pilgrimage. However, there are problems which should be solved such as aging and depopulation of the community these days, and locals haven't been able to find solutions for those problems. On the other hand, since more and more people from overseas visit for the Shikoku Ohenro Pilgrimage locals are trying to find new ways for "omotenashi (hospitality)". Volunteers who have been working on the project have come up with ideas for the reuse of vacant and abandoned land. Local host Oi have finally decided that they can freely renovate and modify the vacant houses. Moreover, the site is in a good location, with mountains, a river and fields. It is up to the volunteers from now on to decide how to develop the project. The aim is for the volunteer members to clean up the abandoned houses and village landscape and transform it into a village that people will want to visit to take photos, as it used to be a village where people came and went since ancient times.

This project is actively working on SDG2 (Zero Hunger) and SDG4 (Quality Education), and has been working with Ozuchi Village since 2013. Ozuchi Village was established by local people to preserve the original landscape. In 1916, there were 140 residents and 20 houses, but now only one person lives there. Fortunately, 10 houses remain and the village is designated as a national important traditional buildings preservation district. The village retains the landscape and lifestyle of old Japan that is no longer in existence. In order to preserve this place and culture, we are trying to improve the situation with the power of young volunteers. Since 2016, Ozuchi Village and NICE have started a monthly weekend work camp, and more than 300 volunteers visit the village every year, fall in love with the village, and participate as repeat visitors or support the village in whatever way they can! The local hosts hope to pass this village on to the next generation!*Results of this work camp: The village was abandoned, but one of the former villagers maintained the rice terraces and landscape. However, the work camp gave him such strength that he started living there again in 2018!

This year, you will be working on the continuation of maintenance work on the casemates (fortified shelters) at Fort Vauban. Accompanied by a specialist technical supervisor, you will initially be responsible for removing vegetation from the structure, then disjointing and repointing with lime mortar. Next, you will take part in transforming the museum's former storeroom into an educational room. You'll learn how to fit plasterboard panels and finish painting.
You'll learn a range of techniques, including traditional masonry, plastering and painting.
You will be working mornings of 5 to 6 hours. Come with work clothes or clothes that may be damaged or dirty. We will provide you with safety equipment. No qualifications are required for this project.

You can enjoy a wide range of activities such as the European Heritage Days, fishing and sailing with the local clubs. The beach, seaside bike rides, beach volleyball and other pleasures are all there for you to discover. You can also visit towns such as La Rochelle and Rochefort. Leisure time and local activities will give you the chance to meet the locals, who are eagerly awaiting your arrival!

You will sleep in a 2-person tent at the Fouras municipal *** campsite (swimming pool, multi-sports area, WIFI, etc.). You must bring a warm duvet and a pillow, and we will provide inflatable mattresses. Bicycles are available for use around town. Food will be provided for all meals, with a budget managed collectively by the group and the leaders. Meals, especially lunch and dinner, will be prepared by participants on a rotating basis, ensuring respect for environmental values, local resources, and everyone's cultural preferences. Both hot and cold dishes, as well as vegetarian and vegan options, will be included.

Accommodation will be in the heart of the medieval town. You will sleep in individual tents (bring your own sleeping bag and mat).In case of bad weather it?ll be possible to sleep in the communal room. You will share the various collective tasks and prepare meals together. A budget will be allocated to the leaders and you will help with the shopping and meal preparation, giving priority to vegetarian, healthy and local products.

Foreigners belonging to the European Union must bring with them a personal EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), and everybody must, in any case, bring their insurance certificate. If health issues happen on the project, volunteers will have to pay for it, and will then be reimbursed once back in their home country.

MOVE is a workcamp NGO founded in 2006. This project was established by single lady by the name Nor Akmar Kaseh also known as kak Akmar. She was went through some tough time as a homeless before. She used feel hunger and leading an unhealthy life. Somehow her life changed and she decided to help the homeless community and transform their life. From providing one meal for homeless now she established to a community centre to help this poor community.

This project is actively working for SDGs 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), organized together with "Kamimamakuchi village" since 2013, and they tried starting new project with volunteer. Depopulation (especially of youth) is a serious problem here similarly in many other country sides. This village have only 20 families and very few young people. It is difficult to keep traditional culture and community work, so we aim to help keeping this landscape/cultures and telling local village’s attraction by young power!
*Outcome of this workcamp: Volunteer had painted fence about 1km! And organizing candle night festival, cultural party! Local people really welcome to coming the new people! Volunteers mainly work for organic agriculture (cultivation, seeding, weeding, harvesting, taking care of goats, cows and chicken, making their feeds) and also carrying the things from the town to Maki, renovating the houses and trails on the way, constructing a hut, helping the house works especially cooking, etc. It's important and necessary to actively join the daily meeting and actively share the collective life. Maki and Tateya and grow animals and vegetables in an ecological, organic way.
Maki is located in a very isolated area (not accessible for cars and we have to walk 4 km in the mountains!), so it once became an abandon village in 1970s and then, was revived by Kyodo Gakusha. Over 10 people incl. 2 families were living till several years ago, but less and less in these years (almost nobody in the winter), so vols. are needed even more!
*Outcome of this workcamp: In 2023, we had 4 short term workcamps and 1 LMTV project with 13 vols. who greatly contributed to their protecting the houses, farming and caring animals that was difficult to finish by the time they needed without volunteers! Nature conservation in the city? You might think that there is no room for nature in the city between concrete and tarmac. But if you take a closer look, you are often amazed at what lives there. Where people work, dwell and live, small nature conservation gems are hidden. Come with us to a sand dune in Gifhorn. It is slowly becoming overgrown with shrubs that need to be removed to preserve the habitat of species such as silver grass and sand sedge, which love dry and nutrient-poor conditions. The route then continues into a residential area where there is a wetland biotope. This is a refuge for peat mosses and dragonflies, but ducks also breed here from time to time. It was fenced off to protect it from trespassers. The fence is now very fragile and will be dismantled with your help so that a new fence can be erected. The rivers in the urban area are also special habitats that connect different biotopes. Unfortunately, due to high water and careless people, rubbish often ends up in the waters, which can also be dangerous for other nature reserves. So get in the boats! From the river, rubbish must be removed from the water and from the embankments. The staff of the Environment Department will guide and support you in this work. Your programme will also include an information day on wildlife in natural waters.

A playground and a football pitch are available directly on site. The surrounding area invites you to go hiking, cycling and canoeing. You can meet young people at the youth centre and spend time there at events and concerts in the evenings. Other leisure activities are swimming, bowling or canoeing. The mill museum and the castle museum are well worth a visit. On Fridays there are sports activities such as football and climbing in the neighbouring sports hall. ‘Gifhorn International’ a cultural festival with various stands (food and information from all over the world) will take place in the town centre on 13 September. Trip to Hannover, Wolfsburg or Braunschweig at the weekend.

The owner of this farm is Mr. Sugiura, who is the only a man taking care of 2 hectares of farmland abandoned by local people. The local people became too old to keep working on the farm. Mr. Sugiura cultivates, harvests crops, even makes fertilizer and processes the harvest into products. He is working not only for crops, but also for conserving the environment and the beautiful scenery of living fields in the countryside of Japan.

It is located in Gose city, Nara pref. which is about 50 km southeast of Osaka. Other activities - Join the local events, many opportunities to learn the local wisdom, etc. Sightseeing, short trip (hot springs, temples and shrines).
Alloggio
Volunteers stay at an old Japanese house next to the local host's. The kitchen and shower are shared with the local host. Volunteers cook by themselves. Smoking is not allowed. A cat and dog is kept around the house.
Requisiti e materiali
High motivation to learn and speak Japanese language, to work hard with simple mountain life in a remote area. Respect for the local culture and way of the local organization. Interests in agriculture. Language - English and Japanese. The local host speaks English.

NEAREST AIRPORT: KIX
NEAREST STATION: The nearest airport is Osaka (KIX) or Nagoya (NGO). To the meeting point, it takes 2 hours by train from the both airports. However, volunteers need to join On Arrival and Evaluation Seminars in Osaka, so firstly should arrive at KIX by 08:00 on the starting day and can leave KIX after 18:00 on the ending day.

This project is actively working for SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDGs 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities),organized with Sugiura Farm since 2017 that engages in organic farming for pursuing food safety and an environmental-friendly society. The owner of this farm is Mr. Sugiura, who is the only a man taking care of 2 hectares of farmland abandoned by local people. The local people became too old to keep working on the farm. Mr. Sugiura cultivates, harvests crops, even makes fertilizer and processes the harvest into products. He is working not only for crops, but also for conserving the environment and the beautiful scenery of living fields in the countryside of Japan.
