Tibet has maintained a unique culture, religion and language for centuries. After the Chinese invasion in 1950, the Dalai Lama, Tibet’s political and religious leader sought and was given asylum in India, along with thousands of Tibetan refugees. Today, there is a thriving settlement in Dharamshala, which is called Tibet-in-exile.
To learn about Tibetan culture and religion, there are many places of interest at Dharamshala. Tsuglagkhang, Mcleodganj the residence of the Dalai Lama is a must-visit, as are the Tibet Museum, Dalai Lama temple, Tibetan Parliament House, Library of Tibetan Works and Archives, War Memorial and Kangra Art Museum. The Tibetan Children’s Village, a charitable organisation, caters to children who are in the greatest need among the refugees. For the last 5 decades, it has run solely on the generosity of its well-wishers.
At Gyuto and Namgyal Monasteries, you can interact with the Tibetan monks and get valuable insights into the peace-loving Buddhist philosophy. If you are in the right place at the right time, you could even be fortunate enough to meet His Holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama himself. Palampur, the Tea Capital of North India is famous for its beautiful tea gardens, which are a natural scenic sight. Tea lovers can pick up some handcrafted, fresh mountain teas here. Some of the teas available are Black Teas, White Teas, Oolong Teas, Green Teas and Tisanes.

There will mainly focus on conserving the group of monuments of cultural heritage site at Hampi.
For the last 10 years, FSL India has been working with UNESCO World Heritage Centre, Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), the management of local schools, local NGOs, INTACH and the local tour guide association. Concentrate on the protection of its cultural heritage, sites of historical importance and on creating awareness among the locals, school children, tour-guides and tourists, to infuse a sense of responsibility towards the protection of these priceless monuments. Here, you will help to convert dry areas into beautiful, restful spots by planting trees and flowering plants. Street plays to create awareness, creativity, physical work and archaeological delights are all hallmarks of this unique work camp

Some of the fun things to do at Hampi are taking a coracle ride in the nearby Tungabhadra river.
These round cane boats have been a mode of transport here from the 15th century. You can also
hire a bicycle and take the ride down to any of the interesting ruins, go bouldering or trekking.
Some must-visits are Vijaya Vittala, the extraordinary architectural marvel with 56 musical pillars,
which create melodic sounds when tapped delicately, the stunning Virupaksha and Krishna temples,
the Royal Enclosure with the Queen’s bath and Lotus Mahal (palace).
Anegundi, or Kishkindha, the capital of the Vijayanagar empire is a fine repository of neolithic history
and prehistoric rock art, represented by Mourya Mane, a several-thousand-year-old Stone Age
colony. You can visit the birthplace of Hanuman, the monkey god, or peek at the ancient elephant
stable, where the city’s elephants were fed, bathed and trained for battle and other activities.

The main task is harvesting various berries and vegetables such as rhubarb, currants, raspberries, Japanese quince, then helping juice making and products packaging. But there is also weed control and fertilization with mulch in plantations, mowing grass, cutting branches, removal of bushes and wood chipping, assistance in the construction of various small buildings, vegetable beds and other necessary structures on the site, painting as well. And there is ongoing work of planting seeds. Working hours are 5-7 hours a day for 5 days a week. The exact work depends on season and partly on weather conditions.

LocationThe farm is located in Kanepi municipality just 11 km from Otepaa and 47 km from Tartu. When coming from Tartu, choose a bus to Voru and get off at the Saverna stop. Buses stop there quite often, travel takes about 40 minutes. Also you can come through Otepaa. Knowing you arrival time and place hosts will pick you up from there. Bus information is on www.tpilet.ee or www.luxexpress.ee. The farm is located in the tiny village of Aiaste. It is important to understand that it is calm and quiet place (there are no events in the village). But with nice weather, it is possible to watch animals like deer on the field, foxes in a strawberry bed and storks. While sitting by the fire at night, enjoy stars in the sky and listen to the nature sounds by animals such as badgers or raccoons.Leisure timeIt is possible to swim, make a fire, play volleyball, disc golf and other games or go for mushroom picking if you like it. There is a swimming lake in Valgjarv 4 km away. You can use various hiking trails. If interested you can visit nearby farms where you can get to know horses, sheep and other animals and see many other interesting things. Farm life conditions are simple but decent. Sleeping is in a separate house in beds. Bed sheets, blankets and pillows are provided, so no need for sleeping bag. There is outdoor kitchen with all necessary equipment. Volunteers can make breakfast and lunch themselves, and dinner will be prepared by and taken with the family. Washing is in the sauna. There is a dry organic toilet. Volunteers have to take care of their surroundings by cleaning up after themselves.

The aim of this project is to renovate the roof of the "Bateleur". This is the lean-to building adjoining the reception centre barn. Under the guidance of the local authority's technical staff, you'll be removing the existing lean-to and carrying out the necessary repairs to the roof structure, then laying the new tiles. No special skills are required, but the work site will be at height and access will be via scaffolding (installed by the municipal services prior to the work site).

At the crossroads of several charming little villages in the south of Saintonge, you can take full advantage of the local heritage. When you're not working on the site, you can take part in summer activities such as the music festival, night markets and visits to local producers and tastings of their products. Outings to the cities, La Rochelle, Rochefort or Angouleme and a day at the ocean can also be organised. Cognac and St-Emilion, two of France's leading wine-growing towns, are also close by!

You will sleep in dormitories in the large Bateleurs International Guest House, where you will share the daily life of the international volunteers, welcomed as CES. Located just a few hundred metres from the lake, in the commune of Montendre, the house has all the facilities you need: showers, kitchen, garden, grove....
You will have a vehicle at your disposal to get to the site and explore the region. Food will be provided for breakfast and meals (you will have a food budget that the leaders will manage and communicate with you throughout the workcamp). Meals, especially lunch and dinner will be prepared by participants on a rotating basis, ensuring respect for environmental values, local resources, and everyone?s cultural preferences. The East-West camp is a social camp that the Gönüllü Hizmetler Derneği has been running with young people since 2008. The camp will be held in Antalya Youth Camp and Education Center. Antalya is the most touristic location in Türkiye and one of the warmest cities. Volunteers will not have the opportunity to make an independent program during the camp, but they can make individual trip/holiday programs in Antalya (or near locations) before or after the camp.

Taraloka hopes to give the volunteers the opportunity to experience living as a community and practising co-operation in living and working together. Women in Taraloka live and work as a specifically Buddhist community and are willing to share what it can look and feel like when living and working from ones deepest values.
They will offer the opportunity to learn new practical skills, develop life skills and build confidence through both. They will learn two fantastic meditation practices (which do not make anyone a Buddhist) but which can positively change your life. There will be the opportunity to learn more about Buddhism including ethics, ritual, study, question and answer and personal talks. Again, by attending any of this you are not making yourself Buddhist!
The work areas on the project will possibly involve maintenance, decorating and cleaning as well as learning to cook tasty and nutritious vegan meals for the group. In addition to these projects there may be some gardening and landscaping work. This is a work retreat and we are looking for physically fit and healthy women. We hope that the volunteers will have fun working together on these projects as well as meditating together, learning about Buddhism and living as a community.
We are offering this opportunity for our volunteers to experience a retreat environment as well as to give their time and energy. We suggest not using your mobile phones and other communication devices during this time. It can be really peaceful and liberating to disconnect from the digital world for a period. Friends and family will be able to contact you on our designated emergency number, should this be necessary during your stay.
We are having substantial building work in 2025 so therefore retreat conditions won’t be entirely as we would like as there will be some noise.

Started in 1985, Taraloka is a Women’s Buddhist Community and Retreat Centre of the Triratna Buddhist Community set on the Welsh-Shropshire border. It was a run-down farm that has been gradually renovated, rebuilt and adapted over the years with the help of many different women with many different skills. The importance of providing a context for women in which the practice of meditation and Buddhism could be developed and deepened was a strong motivating factor for everyone who set up this centre. The name Taraloka means realm of Tara. Tara is an archetypal female figure representing the Enlightened qualities of Compassionate Action.
Today, the aim of Taraloka is the same. Women go there and explore what meditation can bring into their life; learn something about the relevance of Buddhist teaching to contemporary life; and experience themselves in a different setting to usual.

Your work will include different activities in a natural park like to build an apiary, to help farmers or similar works. Your help is also needed for maintenance works, e.g. on orchid meadows, in forests or on a bird island.
This project is especially for nature lovers. Please be prepared to work 5-6 hours a day. Volunteers should come prepared for light or heavy work and be motivated for anything to help the rangers of the Nature Reserve.

The project is located in the nature reserve "Nossentiner Schwinzer Heide" in the northeast of Germany. You can find many beautiful lakes and dense forests there. The nearest bigger place is Krakow am See. The place is remote, but the surrounding nature is beautiful. Be prepared to spend two weeks in nature without shopping opportunities.
Leisure Time:
The nature reserve can be explored on foot, by bike or by boat. In the area there are many beautiful lakes where you can swim. There is a possibility to participate in guided tours through the forest or learn about the endangered animals of the region. Also a trip to a bigger city or to the Baltic Sea can be planned. The activities are discussed in the group and will be decided together.

You will live on a camping site close to a very nice lake. You will sleep in tents (2 persons per tent) on camping beds with mattresses. Please bring a sleeping bag and bed linen. If it will
rain you can sleep in a building. A kitchen, sanitary facilities and a big meeting room are provided on the camping site. A washing machine can be used. Please be aware, that there is only limited
internet connection!
You will live on a camping site close to a very nice lake. You will sleep in a 2-person tent equipped with a camping bed with a mattress. Please bring a sleeping bag and bedding. In case of rain there will be a possibility to sleep in the main building, which is located on the same property.
On the campsite are available: a kitchen, sanitary facilities, a washing machine, a large meeting room and a roofed terrace. Please note that there is limited internet connection!
Food:
The volunteers will prepare their own meals. It would be nice, if you bring some recipes and maybe special spices for easy cooking from your home countries.

Alliksaare Farm s main direction is horse breeding. At the moment there are around 150 horses on the farm. The work can be diverse: it is to take care and maintain the pastures located by the sea - clearing around the pastures, building or removing fences, repairing fences, cleaning the stable. Another work is cleaning the coast nearby the farm from rubbish brought by storms. There can be some work for preparing food for horses for a winter time. However the major and the most important one is work with horses directly - taking care and training them. There are horses of any age but mostly young ones, so depending on your experience and willingness to learn more, it is possible to practice taking care of and training young horses. For example socializing and training foals, halter train yearlings and saddle and/or carriage train young horses. The work will be mainly outdoors. Working time is 6-7 hours a day. Work will be done under some supervision and guidance of the local host but mostly independently.

The accommodation conditions are very simple - in caravans, however beds are provided. Please bring your sleeping bag. Toilets and showers are available on site. There is a kitchen with all necessary equipment for cooking. Ingredients for food will be provided, but you need to cook by yourselves. Hiiumaa, according to the Nordic sagas, emerged from the Baltic Sea as a small islet more than 10 000 years ago. The island of Hiiumaa was first mentioned in historical documents as a deserted island called Dageida in 1228. The first inhabitants settled down at the end of the 13th century. Nowadays, Hiiumaa is the second biggest island of Estonia with an area of 965 sq. km and a population of around 9 000. It has many historical and nature sights, and there are kind people known for their hospitality and good sense of humor. The island is referred to as a remote area of Europe, and EstYES feels particularly proud developing international voluntary projects for over twenty years there. EstYES has been cooperating with eco-farms all over Estonia for solidarity and practical support to local people who work in the agricultural sector keeping traditional lifestyle and developing new eco-farming despite all difficulties. Alliksaare Farm on Hiiumaa Island is one of such projects. This is an organic farm promoting sustainable lifestyle, and this camp is proposed for volunteers who appreciate and share its values, want to learn more about it and to help hard working people. Alliksaare Farm breeds an endangered breed of horses called Estonian Native horse. This is their main focus. This project is actively working for SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDGs 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), organized together with the local group since 2019. This village has been welcoming "Ohenro (pilgrims)" who visit 88 temples in Shikoku since long time ago. The pilgrims walk through this village before visiting "Kakurin-ji temple"; the 20th temple out of 88 temples of the Shikoku Ohenro Pilgrimage. However, there are problems which should be solved such as aging and depopulation of the community these days, and locals haven't been able to find solutions for those problems. On the other hand, since more and more people from overseas visit for the Shikoku Ohenro Pilgrimage locals are trying to find new ways for "omotenashi (hospitality)". Volunteers who have been working on the project have come up with ideas for the reuse of vacant and abandoned land. Local host Oi have finally decided that they can freely renovate and modify the vacant houses. Moreover, the site is in a good location, with mountains, a river and fields. It is up to the volunteers from now on to decide how to develop the project. The aim is for the volunteer members to clean up the abandoned houses and village landscape and transform it into a village that people will want to visit to take photos, as it used to be a village where people came and went since ancient times.

This project is actively working on SDG2 (Zero Hunger) and SDG4 (Quality Education), and has been working with Ozuchi Village since 2013. Ozuchi Village was established by local people to preserve the original landscape. In 1916, there were 140 residents and 20 houses, but now only one person lives there. Fortunately, 10 houses remain and the village is designated as a national important traditional buildings preservation district. The village retains the landscape and lifestyle of old Japan that is no longer in existence. In order to preserve this place and culture, we are trying to improve the situation with the power of young volunteers. Since 2016, Ozuchi Village and NICE have started a monthly weekend work camp, and more than 300 volunteers visit the village every year, fall in love with the village, and participate as repeat visitors or support the village in whatever way they can! The local hosts hope to pass this village on to the next generation!*Results of this work camp: The village was abandoned, but one of the former villagers maintained the rice terraces and landscape. However, the work camp gave him such strength that he started living there again in 2018!

This year, you will be working on the continuation of maintenance work on the casemates (fortified shelters) at Fort Vauban. Accompanied by a specialist technical supervisor, you will initially be responsible for removing vegetation from the structure, then disjointing and repointing with lime mortar. Next, you will take part in transforming the museum's former storeroom into an educational room. You'll learn how to fit plasterboard panels and finish painting.
You'll learn a range of techniques, including traditional masonry, plastering and painting.

Depopulation (especially of youth) is a serious problem here similarly in many other country sides. This village have only 20 families and very few young people. Maki is located in a very isolated area (not accessible for cars and we have to walk 4 km in the mountains!), so it once became an abandon village in 1970s and then, was revived by Kyodo Gakusha. Over 10 people incl. 2 families were living till several years ago, but less and less in these years (almost nobody in the winter), so vols. are needed even more!
*Outcome of this workcamp: In 2023, we had 4 short term workcamps and 1 LMTV project with 13 vols. who greatly contributed to their protecting the houses, farming and caring animals that was difficult to finish by the time they needed without volunteers! Since this area is close from big cities Osaka and Nagoya, there were plans to build a golf field and an incinerator, but local people stopped those plans by the movement called National Trust. They founded the group in 1996 to collect donations to buy and protect lands, to accept people who want to enjoy nature, to maintain forests, to create a pond for dragonflies, to host national corps meeting, etc. SATOYAMA needs to be maintained by humans for its biodiversity and water adjustment function. Our ancestors had protected and utilized the forest in ecological and sustainable way, which was neglected by modernization. We will try to revive it by global voluntary power!!

This project is actively working for SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDGs 15 (Life on Land), organized together with a local environmental NPO, Akame no SATOYAMA wo Sodateru Kai (ASSK) since 1999. Since this area is close from big cities Osaka and Nagoya, there were plans to build a golf field and an incinerator, but local people stopped those plans by the movement called National Trust. They founded the group in 1996 to collect donations to buy and protect lands, to accept people who want to enjoy nature, to maintain forests, to create a pond for dragonflies, to host national corps meeting, etc. SATOYAMA needs to be maintained by humans for its biodiversity and water adjustment function. Our ancestors had protected and utilized the forest in ecological and sustainable way, which was neglected by modernization. We will try to revive it by global voluntary power!!

Volunteers will do various types of activities such as 1) Forest conservation (cutting trees, branches and maintaining the footpaths, etc.), 2) Agricultural work (taking care of the chickens raised by the free range farming, slaughtering too old chickens (#), harvesting and packaging mushrooms, etc.) and 3) Organizing some environmental events (e.g., to collect edible wild plants, nature observation) in the mountains. #: It's hard for ASSK to keep feeding too old chickens since they don't bear the eggs anymore and feeding is quite costly. Most chicken farms ask the special company to just kill and "throw away" as if they are rubbish with paying 15 yen per chicken, but ASSK does not support this and eats by themselves with deeply appreciating to their value of life.

Kami-mitani area of Nabari city, 60 km from Osaka. There are famous falls nearby many hikers visit. Other activities - Many opportunities to learn the local wisdom. Sightseeing, short trip (hot springs, famous places here).

Motivation letter is needed! Some Japanese speaking skill (manage to have basic daily conversation). High motivation to learn and speak Japanese language and work hard with simple mountain life in a remote area without colleagues. Respect for the local culture and way of the local organization. Interests in environment issues. Open mind and flexibility. Language - Japanese and English. The daily communication will be done by mixing simple English and Japanese.
