It was established by Kyoko who was a very active members of NICE with a lot of workcamp experiences in Togo, etc. and the company who had been working with her. Then more members joined when the workshop was about to open. They organize the workshop "TIME WARP" that is a workplace for adults with special needs for weaving, pottery, small garden and embroidery work. They all love art and craft, having big interests on humans. They don't stick in specific philosophies, but anthroposophy is one of their guides. They work and study together with a certified anthroposophical doctor, nurse, curative pedagogists and Extra Lesson practitioners.
*Outcome of this workcamp: In 2024, 6 vols. from 4 countries gathered for the first short term international workcamp and greatly contributed to cut the glasses, friendly exchange with the challenged people and assist the activities/ events!

Volunteers mainly work for organic agriculture (cultivation, seeding, weeding, harvesting, taking care of goats, cows and chicken, making their feeds) and also carrying the things from the town to Maki, renovating the houses and trails on the way, constructing a hut, helping the house works especially cooking, etc. It's important and necessary to actively join the daily meeting and actively share the collective life. Be ready to work for quite a long time (05:30-18:00 with some brakes) and hard. It'd be surely good exercise to make your body more healthy!

Maki is located in the beautiful place near “Japanese Northern Alps”, at about 900 meters asl. and there is something remained here that most of Japanese areas have lost in modernization. Other activities - Exchange program, Excursion on a free day (possibly to Hakuba, a famous tourism spot), etc.

Volunteers will live in the main house that is a very beautiful cultural heritage and equips the basic facilities such as water, electricity, kitchen, toilets and a bath room! Single room can be provided. They will have meals, meetings and social life with Kyodo Gakusha members. Meals will be cooked by volunteers together with the members by turns. Sleeping bag is not necessary. There is no wifi.

Motivation letter is needed! Volunteers need to have some Japanese speaking skill (manage to have basic daily conversation) and high motivation and patience to keep hard, long and important work in the very isolated, natural place, to respect the way of the local host and to learn and speak Japanese language is needed. This project is actively working for SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDGs 10 (Reduced Inequalities), organized together with Kyodo Gakusha (since 2000 here), a cooperative community where people with various backgrounds such as mentally disadvantaged, people who are tired of city life, who want to learn farming, who want to live in the nature, etc. They have 5 communities in Japan incl. Maki and Tateya and grow animals and vegetables in an ecological, organic way.
Maki is located in a very isolated area (not accessible for cars and we have to walk 4 km in the mountains!), so it once became an abandon village in 1970s and then, was revived by Kyodo Gakusha. Over 10 people incl. 2 families were living till several years ago, but less and less in these years (almost nobody in the winter), so vols. are needed even more!
*Outcome of this workcamp: In 2023, we had 4 short term workcamps and 1 LMTV project with 13 vols. who greatly contributed to their protecting the houses, farming and caring animals that was difficult to finish by the time they needed without volunteers! They run two drop-in centers in Chow Kit and one safe home for children who are in need of temporary guardianship. YCK operate in partnership with Ministry of Women and Child Welfare. YCK developed out of Nur Salam and was incorporated in 2011. The past workcamps since 2018 Sep. have been successful and in 2024, 48 vols. from Japan, Mexico and Italy joined 4 workcamps with creating great impact!

This project is actively working for SDGs 10 (Reduced Inequalities), organized together with Malaysian Organization of Volunteer Exchange (MOVE) since 2019 in this place. MOVE is a workcamp NGO founded in 2006. Bernice Home was found by a lady by the name of Bernice. She started this home for senior citizens who need quality home care services to seniors with limited mobility or dementia and hence social interaction. She started this home in 2000 and the second home in 2018. The founder belief “life shouldn’t end when you are old, it should be full of happy memories regardless of the age. Support the educational centre Kell am See, an important place for youth work in the whole area of Trier, by doing environmental and maintenance works! The educational centre is public, non-profit and offers the opportunity for youth groups, associations and schools to spend some days or weeks here, running a seminar or some other projects. One focus of the offer is on environmental education and outdoor activities. You will be working to take care and maintain the green areas around the regional education centre. Your tasks will include:
• cutting the grass and bushes;
• renovating/taking care of the playground and its big swing, the low rope course, the tree houses and the sports grounds;
• tending the herbs garden and the insect hotel;
• building wooden benches;
• cleaning the grounds of the centre.
In addition, you will continue to upgrade the outdoor area pedagogically and create new offers. One of the workcamps set up an outdoor kitchen with pizza oven, which is used for different educational actions with youngsters.

Kell am See is a village 30 km from Trier, surrounded by beautiful landscapes. The area is well known for cycling, hiking and other ways of outdoor activities. In Kell, there is a holiday resort, which offers more than 200 holiday bungalows next to a lake (close to the educational centre). The area is not just appreciated by tourists: People from the area also come here for cycling (there is a 45 km cycling path on a former railway roadbed) or to spend a nice day outside. In addition, the region offers plenty of historic sites (castles, museums….). You will get the opportunity to come in contact with local associations, e.g. the local voluntary fire brigade. Since public transport is poor, the number of excursions will be limited but you will for sure visit Trier, famous for its Roman sites, its cathedral and for being the birth place of Karl-Marx.

You will stay in five wooden tepees for max. five persons each. It is really great to stay here surrounded by pure nature, with the campfire in the middle of the circle of tepees. In the centre you will have your own kitchen including a dish-washer, a living room and sanitary facilities. For your free time you will find plenty of outdoor facilities (campfire, basketball, football, volleyball…) and a nice indoor room. Please be aware that the tepees have beds and electricity but no heating, so it might be cold at night. Bring a warm sleeping bag! In the different facilities of the centre as the kitchen and the living room, there is heating. Wifi is available.
Your group of volunteers will be responsible for grocery shopping and cooking together. The food will be bought with the camp budget and everybody will take turns for cooking, washing the dishes and cleaning. In order to reduce our carbon footprint on the planet, we encourage volunteers to reduce meat and try more sustainable dishes.

Kell am See is a touristic village not far from Trier, the oldest German city. The regional youth department runs an educational centre in this village, which offers different environmental educational activities for youth groups and school classes. The centre was just renovated a couple of years ago and different new outdoor and training facilities were installed. For them it is important to get the support of international volunteer for their centre but at the same time they share the aims of international volunteering and want to offer a nice opportunity to you. Created in 1991 at the Moulin de Ferrière, the Marsinne folk festival brings together dancers, musicians, singers and artists in the wonderful setting of the Château Ferme de Marsinne.
Every year on the 2nd weekend in September, this festival welcomes well-known and lesser-known groups for folk balls and traditional music concerts. The programme attracts both dance fans and music lovers of all stripes. Non-dancers also have the opportunity to learn folk ball dances and other repertoires.
Musicians, dancers and the curious for a day come together in a friendly, family atmosphere. When not on stage, the musicians play spontaneously together, in the middle of the audience or at the market of the craftsmen and luthiers present.
The setting of the château-farm, a magnificent, peaceful and easily accessible place, adds a unique touch. The festival is not a commercial venture, but it attracts an ever-growing audience.

The Chateau de Bruzac has been a co-castle for centuries. Indeed, since the 13th century, it has been the seat of a co-lordship following a complicated succession. So complex that until the revolution, it remained separated into two sets of habitats within the same fortified enclosure despite the various occupations, wars and revolts. After the revolution and the evictions of the noble families of the site, the castle will serve as a quarry for the inhabitants of the village of Saint Pierre de Cole and the surrounding farms.
For around thirty years, it has belonged to a couple of history enthusiasts and is managed and promoted by the local association "Renaissance du Vieux Bruzac". You'll have the chance to help them clear the chapel and salvage the stones. These 2 weeks of work will be punctuated by the European Heritage Days on 20 and 21 September. You'll be taking a step back in time, and on this occasion, you'll be helping to welcome visitors in a medieval setting, with costumed activities.
You'll also have the chance to find out from this association, which is passionate about history, how people cooked in the Middle Ages and during the Renaissance, and to visit the Dordogne, a land of gastronomy and history.

Participants will work on the grounds of a former external camp of the Ravensbruck women?s concentration camp, where hundreds of women were forced to work under extreme conditions in the armaments industry during World War II. Malchow is a small town in the south of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, situated between two large lakes. The region offers numerous recreational opportunities, from beautiful nature and water sports to relaxing walks along the lakes. Malchow also has a rich and moving history: During World War II, it was the external camp of the Ravensbruck concentration camp, where hundreds of women were forced to work under inhuman conditions. Today, remembrance of this time serves as a reminder of the importance of advocating for peace and humanity.

Volunteers can swim, explore the surroundings by water, or go on bike tours. Excursions to cities such as Rostock are also possible. In the evenings, group games or creative activities provide opportunities for exchange.

Based on the time of the year the volunteers will be working during the day or at night in the months of August and September from 20:00 to 08:00. Depending on the number of turtles that come ashore, two teams might be formed among the volunteers. In this way, each group will be taking turns, working one night, and taking the next night off for recovery. In addition, the weekends are also spared for resting. Some of the activities to be performed are:
1. Finding adult turtles and collecting their eggs.
2. Moving the eggs to a protected place called Vivero.
3. Releasing newborn baby turtles into the sea.
4. Patrolling the beaches at night.
5. Making some reconstruction in the most important turtle camps of the region.
Please consider that the schedule is subject to change depending on the weather conditions and the condition of the sea turtles and it is possible to work with crocodiles in case there is no work with turtles, this can happen mostly in the months of January and February. The coordinator or the camp leader will be informing you regarding your work schedule.

Il campo si svolge nello splendido scenario dell’Area Marina Protetta Penisola del Sinis – Isola di Mal di Ventre, istituita nel 1997 a tutela di questo territorio costiero delicato quanto prezioso. Il comune di Cabras, gestore dell’Area Marina Protetta, da anni è impegnato in un importante percorso di conservazione della biodiversità e della tutela del mare, dedicando risorse allo sviluppo di un turismo sostenibile e responsabile, puntando quindi sull’uso rispettoso del mare e del territorio da una parte, e sulla valorizzazione del patrimonio culturale e archeologico dall’altra. I campi di volontariato che Legambiente realizza quest’estate, in collaborazione con l’AMP e il comune, si inseriscono in questo contesto; gli obiettivi sono di sensibilizzare gli abitanti e i turisti a una fruizione corretta dell'ambiente marino e costiero e di migliorare l’offerta di turismo sostenibile sull’isola, attraverso la sorveglianza dell’area protetta, il monitoraggio e la pulizia dai rifiuti.

II volontari garantiranno un presidio costante dell’AMP e svolgeranno le seguenti attività: informazione e sensibilizzazione dei turisti sulla corretta fruizione della spiaggia, con particolare attenzione alla tutela delle spiagge con granuli di quarzo, pulizia delle coste dalla presenza di eventuali rifiuti spiaggiati, monitoraggio e catalogazione dei rifiuti spiaggiati provenienti dal mare, raccolti secondo la normativa europea del Beach Litter e Park Litter nel caso di pulizie delle dune e zone retrodunali.

A ovest di Cabras, la penisola del Sinis, si protende nel mare con una costa bassa e rocciosa, estendendosi nell’entroterra con un altopiano brullo e una bassa macchia mediterranea odorosa di rosmarino e di ginepro. Alla scogliera si alternano anche spiagge memorabili: a nord di capo Mannu le dune e le sabbie di Is Arenas sono coperte da una storica pineta, mentre a sud la costa si articola in cale di sabbia, promontori rocciosi e stagni. A sud delle suggestive scogliere di Su Tingiosu si trovano alcuni gioielli naturalistici, le spiagge di granuli quarzosi (del tutto simili a chicchi di riso) di Mari Ermi e Is Arutas. Alle spalle delle spiagge, di grande interesse naturalistico lo stagno di Cabras, e la laguna di Mistras, mentre di grandissima suggestione sono le rovine della città, prima nuragica poi fenicia e infine romana, di Tharros, situata proprio in riva al mare.

Attività formative
I volontari saranno coinvolti in attività di formazione tenute dai responsabili di Legambiente e dal personale dell’AMP sulle caratteristiche naturalistiche e storico-culturali del territorio, sull'avifauna e fauna selvatica del territorio e sulle attività di lavoro. Sono previsti focus sulla raccolta differenziata. Verranno organizzate anche delle passeggiate ed escursioni nell'entroterra del parco con relative informazioni sulla flora dell'area. Verrà inoltre organizzata una vista al CRES, il Centro Recupero Tartarughe della zona.

Ostello di Funtana Meiga - casa del Parco. A circa 30 min a piedi dalla borgata marina di San Giovanni di Sinis: l’ostello è dotato di camere con 4 posti letto ciascuna con un bagno comune con doccia ogni due camere. Sono presenti una cucina per la preparazione dei pasti e spazi esterni per il relax dei volontari.
Requisiti e materiali
Buona attitudine a camminare e andare in bicicletta. Disponibilità al confronto con turisti e fruitori delle spiagge. Buona sopportazione del caldo estivo che può raggiungere temperature alte soprattutto in alcuni periodi.

Il comune di Cabras, gestore dell’Area Marina Protetta, da anni è impegnato in un importante percorso di conservazione della biodiversità e della tutela del mare, dedicando risorse allo sviluppo di un turismo sostenibile e responsabile, puntando quindi sull’uso rispettoso del mare e del territorio da una parte, e sulla valorizzazione del patrimonio culturale e archeologico dall’altra.
