Kenya is renowned internationally as home of athletes and the majority of the world winners in this sport ironically come from the great rift valley of Kenya. This has elicited immense interest on the magic behind this phenomenon as Kenya is highly ranked for producing the best marathoners of the world and the young people who dominate the steeplechase races among other exploits in athletics.
This project is located among the Nandi people who take pride in producing the finest athletes who have flown the Kenyan flag high with remarkable results bring great honour to Kenya and the world with greater acclaim.
PROJECT BACKGROUND INFORMATION
• Nandi people are classified among the legendary Kalenjin speaking people that occupy the expansive Rift Valley province. Rift Valley province is characterized by humid, hot and dry weather conditions in the months of December, January, February and March and cold and wet in the months of April, May, June and July. But in August, September, October and November the climate is warm and cool which is a very comforting climate. It is one of the 42 recognized ethnic communities in Kenya known for their hospitality. Nandi’s are farmers in nature practicing mixed farming, keeping animals and growing of food crops. Nandi district host the Nandi forest; Nandi Rock which is the single largest rock in East Africa. The total area of Nandi district in which 40% of the total land is a forest.
• Majority of the populace live on the hills, which offers cool and conducive environment for agriculture. Kamagap Primary School is located on the high lands where climatic conditions are favorable for meaningful agricultural activities and community members are very hard working.
• Kamagap Primary School is located in Kamagap, Kibwareng Sub-Location in Aldai Division, Nandi South district, Rift Valley Province in the Republic of Kenya; some parts of Rift Valley are sometimes referred to as semi-arid zone.

Volunteer will be divided to work in rural school as English teachers, preparing lessons with
the teacher at the school (do not expect this point too much even the teachers are also shy
to speak out).
Creative teaching English, Non-formal education tools can be used for creative teaching;
volunteer is not required teaching certificate but requiring to be creative. Aims of creative
teaching is giving the chance for students in the school and local community to have an
opportunity to communicate with different language and learn difference culture.

knowledge. The project was created by VSA Thailand in 2011 and has been successful for
eight years. Former volunteers came to give the opportunity for children in schools and the
local community. Many local people improved their English skills through exchanging with
international volunteers, or at least they try to speak the English language more and dare to
face and work with the foreigner even though they cannot speak English. Moreover,
volunteers’ activities impacted the local community. They used to stay lively and trusty with
the foreigner. Local people have a chance to learn, accept, and adopt the ways of life with
the different cultures.

Ban Krogluek School is a primary school, there are about 10 teachers and 100 students from
kindergarten (2-6 years old), pratomsuksa 1-6 (7-12 years old).
Ban Maab Grad School is a primary school, there are about 9 teachers, 1 janitor and 60
students from kindergarten (2-6 years old), pratomsuksa 1-6 (7-12 years old). VSA has sent
volunteers to this School since 2022.
*Nakhon Ratchasima province or ‘Korat’ the ancient name that Thai people always call this
province unofficually because of shorter.

You will visit local projects on environment and conservation. These may include hands-on activities or guided visits. Some examples include outdoor cleanup tasks, a geothermal power plant, a local fauna and/or flora exhibition or an outdoor Icelandic culture museum. Some of these activities are dependent on conditions such as weather, as well as availability or restrictions of our partner organisations.You will also have time to put the theory about photography into practice, walking around and exploring the city. At the end of the camp, the best photographs from each participant are selected for an online exhibition on SEEDS social media. Participants should bring their own digital cameras, lenses, tripods and laptops if possible.SEEDS programme combines learning, sharing, hands-on activities, getting to know Iceland, its culture, having fun, exploring the city and its attractions, as stunning natural attractions in possible excursions. Participants should prepare to share environmental issues from their countries and should be ready to spend time outdoors walking medium distances during activities and sightseeing. Note this project is a learning/sharing camp and not a standard workcamp. This project has a smaller volunteer work part and puts a bigger emphasis on the personal learning process than on the community impact.In this project SEEDS will organise a night photography (Northern Lights) workshop in the city or in the vicinity of Reykjavik. This will take place during late evening and possibly into the night. Northern lights are a natural phenomenon depending on solar activity and meteorological conditions; we cannot guarantee you will see northern lights, but the night photography workshop will be organised anyway.

SEEDS participants will stay in a house in Reykjavik. The facilities are basic with a kitchen, showers, and a washing machine. Everyone is expected to show consideration for their companions. Participants will sleep in shared rooms or dormitories.Volunteers will receive food supplies and will be in charge of cooking and cleaning. Please note the food SEEDS provides will be vegetarian. Do not forget to bring some traditional/typical food, drinks, recipes, music, games or movies from your country for the intercultural evening. Please be aware some items or ingredients may be expensive in Iceland and you will need to buy them yourselves or bring them from your country.

This project is actively working for SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDGs 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), organized together with Phoudindaeng Youth Center (PYC) since 2009. PYC's main projects are running a school bus, teaching English in extracurricular classes, supporting the construction of a community center and establishing a library. Considering the increasing demands of villagers, PYC was officially established in 2007 which has played important roles for personal growth, life-long education and formation of leadership skills.
In 2024, 2 workcamps were successfully organized with 8 vols. from Japan, Hong Kong and Myanmar in addition to some local vols. It had been open only to Asian, but from this year, it is open to all over the world!

This project is actively working for SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDGs 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), organized together with Phoudindaeng Youth Center (PYC) since 2009. PYC's main projects are running a school bus, teaching English in extracurricular classes, supporting the construction of a community center and establishing a library. Considering the increasing demands of villagers, PYC was officially established in 2007 which has played important roles for personal growth, life-long education and formation of leadership skills.
In 2024, 2 workcamps were successfully organized with 8 vols. from Japan, Hong Kong and Myanmar in addition to some local vols. It had been open only to Asian, but from this year, it is open to all over the world!

Intercultural and Language (ICL) – Nakhon Ratchasima, learning and sharing the
intercultural and language still are the main purpose. Volunteers will share and exchange
culture, language, and knowledge with the local community and students in the school.
English as the global language and intercultural learning are important for local Thai people
to understand and be for global citizens. English is also the gateway to open mind and
knowledge. The project was created by VSA Thailand and has been successful for eight
years. Former volunteers came to give the opportunity for children in schools and the local
community. Many local people improved their English skills through exchanging with
international volunteers, or at least they try to speak the English language more and dare to
face and work with the foreigner even though they cannot speak English. Moreover,
volunteers’ activities impacted the local community. They used to stay lively and trusty with
the foreigner. Local people have a chance to learn, accept, and adopt the ways of life with
the different cultures.
Ban Krogluek School is a primary school, there are about 10 teachers and 100 students from
kindergarten (2-6 years old), pratomsuksa 1-6 (7-12 years old).
Ban Maab Grad School is a primary school, there are about 9 teachers, 1 janitor and 60
students from kindergarten (2-6 years old), pratomsuksa 1-6 (7-12 years old). VSA has sent
volunteers to this School since 2022.
*Nakhon Ratchasima province or ‘Korat’ the ancient name that Thai people always call this
province unofficually because of shorter.

The project aims to foster cultural exchange through engaging workshops on Japanese culture with a group of young Japanese participants. These workshops will be held in schools, residential facilities and eledery houses, and various community spaces, providing an opportunity for participants to immerse themselves in the rich heritage and traditions of Japan.
The initiative seeks to bridge cultural divides and promote mutual understanding by showcasing aspects of Japanese culture such as traditional arts, cuisine and language. Through
interactive sessions, participants will have the chance to learn even basic phrases in Japanese.
The workshops will not only serve as educational experiences but also as platforms for dialogue and cross-cultural interaction. Participants will be encouraged to ask questions, share their own cultural perspectives, and engage in meaningful exchanges with the Japanese group. Moreover, the project will emphasize inclusivity and accessibility by targeting diverse audiences, including students of all ages, residents of care homes, and members of community organizations. The initiative aims to promote cultural appreciation and tolerance among people from different backgrounds.
Overall, the project objetive is to foster lasting connections and promote global citizenship by celebrating the diversity of human culture while highlighting the common threads that unite us all. Through the shared experience of learning about Japanese culture, participants will gain valuable insights into the importance of cultural diversity and the beauty of cross-cultural exchange.
Last but not least, the Japaneese group will be given the opportunity to participate in tasks for the recovery from the disastrous effects of the DANA in Valencia, to rebuild the apiary that De Amicitia has in the area or any other activity useful for the development of the municipality that is proposed by the local Civil Society.

Alfas del Pi is a small residential town in the southwest of Spain close to Benidorm (comunidad de Valencia) with a great international community and close to important touristic places. There are a lot of schools, eldery houses and other social centres. Its an urban site sourrounded by beautiful Mediterranean countryside and hills which are great for hiking. The sea is 4 km away from the town
The house is located close to the Town Hall which supportes the project , so there are great opportunities to interact and socialize with the locals and to truly experience the Spanish society, specially with kids and senior people.

The volunteers will stay in our 80 m2 volunteer ground floor flat. The flat has ONLY one single open room for everyone with several bunkbeds, and a bathroom. The house includes a nice kitchen in which the volunteers will cook for themselves in the guidance of the camp leaders.
You dont need to bring your own lower sheets, pillow and covers for pillows, towels or a sleeping bag but a sleeping bag sheet (sack) might be more than useful

These may include hands-on activities or guided visits. Some examples include outdoor cleanup tasks, a geothermal power plant, a local fauna and/or flora exhibition or an outdoor Icelandic culture museum. Some of these activities are dependent on conditions such as weather, as well as availability or restrictions of our partner organisations.You will also have time to put the theory about photography into practice, walking around and exploring the city. At the end of the camp, the best photographs from each participant are selected for an online exhibition on SEEDS social media. Participants should bring their own digital cameras, lenses, tripods and laptops if possible.

• The Kenya Institute of Organic Farming (KIOF) is an officially registered technical training institution NO. MOHEST/PC/1361 and Non-Governmental organization (NGO). It is situated in Juja off – Thika highway, near Ndarugo Motel. KIOF launched its first activities in 1987 – The Farmers Training and Extension Programme, which aimed at bringing the awareness of the challenges associated with conventional chemical farming (fertilizers and pesticides)
• The advantages of environmentally – sound-farming methods, appropriate to small-scale farmers led to widespread public interest in the program. Numerous requests were received from development organizations in Eastern Africa for training in organic farming.
• After the initial strong growth, KIOF found that there was necessity to verifying some of the organic methods adopted by farmers. KIOF therefore started looking into opportunities for on-farm trials and research to supply relevant back up data.
• A Program to incorporate youth training in organic agriculture was launched in 1995. This led to an Organic Agriculture Certificate course with the aim of assisting the youth to develop careers in Organic farming. A diploma program was launched in 2004 and the Certificate Stream gradually phased out.
• The Diploma Program takes 2 years of theoretical and practical learning. Due to the growing interest in this field and high demand for profession knowledge in organic agriculture, KIOF launched a 2-year Distance Learning Diploma program in 2006
A RENEWED APPROACH TO AGRICULTURE AND THE ENVIRONMENT
• Organic farms and gardens have been operating years in many countries and climates. By reviving and developing sound husbandry practices, they have shown that it is possible to combine good yields with high quality produce, lasting soil fertility and improved overall environment.
• The Kenya Institute of Organic Farming (KIOF) aims at making this experience available to all farmers and other stakeholders.
• KIOF connects itself especially with the small – scale farmers who make up the majority of the farming community in Kenya. It is the small – scale farmers who are, in effect, the caretakers of the natural environment. KIOF wants to stimulate better management of the environment by starting with sound agricultural principles on the farm.
• KIOF organizes training sessions for groups of farmers: women groups, youth and other CBOs in the rural areas. KIOF comes into contact with these groups through various organizations, churches, government institutions and individuals.

Volunteers will help in arranging extra activities for the senior citizens, such as art, craft, painting, gardening, storytelling, music and movement activities. Other than that, volunteers could help the nursing care helpers to cook and take part in daily cleaning routines. Some of the days, bring the senior citizens for an evening walk if weather permits. Otherwise lots of, indoor activities could be conduct.

The home is located in Jalan Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur. https://goo.gl/maps/84vfEaSMEaBL2b4x8Visit around Kuala Lumpur city. Wednesday afternoon will be free. The volunteers joining more than 1 unit (week) can have free days in the weekend.

Home stay in the house of MOVE President (Siva san). Male and female will be mixed. The breakfast will be bought at the food stalls, very near to the house (walking distance). The dinner too (or they can also cook at home by themselves if they prefer). Lunch will be provided at Home. Workcampers will be able to try various of local food. Sleeping bag is necessary. They need to keep a good manner not to disturb the family life.

NEAREST STATION: Kuala Lumpur - Volunteers will meet at the nearest train station and need to arrive at the airport by 10:00 on the first day and can leave the airport after 11:00 on the last day.

This project is actively working for SDGs 10 (Reduced Inequalities), organized together with Malaysian Organization of Volunteer Exchange (MOVE) since 2019 in this place. MOVE is a workcamp NGO founded in 2006. Bernice Home was found by a lady by the name of Bernice. She started this home for senior citizens who need quality home care services to seniors with limited mobility or dementia and hence social interaction. She started this home in 2000 and the second home in 2018. The founder belief “life shouldn’t end when you are old, it should be full of happy memories regardless of the age. The founder wants to keep the seniors active and engaged through physical, mental and social activities, all in the comfort of their home.The workcamp was revived in 2023 and in 2024, 8 volunteers from Japan and Hong Kong did great work!
