ACCOMMODATION AND MEALS
• Volunteers will stay in a homestead with very basic living conditions.
• Volunteers have an obligation to climb down the level of the people with the aim of exposure to development challenges.
• KVDA will provide foodstuffs and volunteers will cook their own meals in turns.
• Water is available from springs and it is recommended that drinking water should be boiled or medicated. Mineral water available at supermarkets is also recommended.
• There is no electricity connection at the project but volunteers can charge their electric appliances at the nearest market center.
• However, the Government policy to install ICT in primary schools has seen connectivity to the national power grid for most educational institutions in Kenya and this makes it easy for volunteers to use electric appliances while at the project.
• Furthermore, we invite you to bring typical food, spices, drinks, games and music from your country (for an intercultural evening) – and a lot of motivation!

• Shining Star ECDC and Orphans School is located in Migori County, Nyatike Sub-county, Muhuru division, Muhuru -East location in Tagache Sub-location, along Muhuru-Migori road.
• The School was founded in 1999 by Mr. Hevrone Killmess Mairah due to lack of access to educational institutions in the area due to its remote setting, challenges posed by orphans the majority of whose parents are ravaged by HIV/AIDS pandemic and the high illiteracy levels within the community coupled high unemployment.
• In 2000, the school had a good number of children and 3 teachers and the community enjoyed the being of Shining Star.
• In 2001 the school was temporarily closed due to the conflict within the local community until 2002 when this was resolved and the community agreed to host the School at the local Church due to lack of classroom buildings.
• 2003 the land was bought and demarcation done.
• In 2005 the first classroom was built by a volunteer called Steffi Rahn a 19-year old from SCI-Germany.
• 2009 started hosting volunteers from KVDA courtesy of the Germany Government sponsored program “Weltwaerts” that afforded young Germans an opportunity to volunteer in Kenya for the duration of one year.
• 2011 Shining Star was registered with the Kenyan Government as a learning institution.
• 2012 started building dormitory for both orphans and those having parents with the help of former KVDA volunteer from Germany named Daniel, which structure has since been completed.
• 2013 the School started goat farming and poultry farming that is still underway. It also set aside space for an orphanage home and new toilets that are already finished.
• There are more plans in the pipeline e.g. Agriculture, Business loaning for the widows and youths, competitive sports between local clubs and the School where trophies, balls and other gifts will be awarded to the participating teams
• The School has a population of over 360 children, 11 teachers and 5 support staff.
• The School has classes from Kindergarten to Standard eight.
• Shining Star ECDC and Orphans School is a community based education institution and caters for the needs of the orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) that had been rendered destitute.
• Fishing is the mainstay of the local community thanks to the expansive Lake Victoria.
• Due to the easy cash courtesy of the Lake, young people have been lured to drop out of School to engage in fishing and this has negatively impacted on the community since it has resulted in early marriages, school drop outs, early and unplanned pregnancies not forgetting the spread of HIV/AIDS that has resulted in increased number of OVC’s in the community.
• Community empowerment is crucial in achieving the overall objective of attaining sustainable development.

• This year 2015, the School has launched the secondary school section with the first students’ intake launched in February 2015.
• Care and support orphans and vulnerable Children and HIV/AIDS families;

Forte de son histoire, la forteresse accueille des bénévoles internationaux·ales depuis les années 1980 afin de l'entretenir, de la valoriser et d'animer la vie locale durant l'été. Cette année, ce sont 5 chantiers internationaux qui y sont organisés sur la période estivale. Tu participeras à la seconde session de l'année.
Viens participer à la sauvegarde et à la valorisation de ce patrimoine d'exception ! Autour du château, tu réaliseras plusieurs travaux de restauration. Accompagné·e par un·e encadrant·e technique, tu participeras à l’entretien des maçonneries en découvrant les techniques traditionnelles : dejointoiement et rejointoiement des murs, fabrication de mortier à base de chaux et de sable, maniement des outils. Tu participeras aussi à l’entretien des boiseries : barrières de sécurité, construction en palettes pour les espaces de détente. Tu participeras également aux actions environnementales de la forteresse : débroussaillage, taille des arbustes, entretien du potager, rénovation des cabines de toilettes sèches. Protéger une telle bâtisse necéssite du temps et beaucoup d'énergie ; viens apporter ta pierre a l'édifice !
With its rich history, international volunteers have been welcomed at the castle since the 1980s to help maintain and promote it, and enliven local life during the summer. This year, 5 international workcamps are organized at the fortress over the summer. You will participate in the second session of the year.
Come and join the preservation and enhancement efforts of this exceptional heritage! Around the castle, you will carry out several restoration tasks. Guided by a technical supervisor, you will help maintain the masonry by learning traditional techniques: removing and re-pointing the walls, making lime and sand mortar, and handling the tools. You will also assist with maintaining the woodwork: safety barriers and building with pallets for relaxation areas. Finally, you will take part in maintining the fortress's environment: clearing brush, pruning shrubs, maintaining the vegetable garden, and renovating the dry toilet cabins. Protecting such a building takes time and energy; come contribute to the effort!

L'hébergement se fait sous tente, à 10/15 min à pieds de la forteresse et à 5 min à pieds du centre de la commune. Tout est organisé sur place dans le respect de l'environnement (tri des déchets et compost) avec l'objectif d'avoir un mode de vie plus écologique.
Au-delà des temps de chantier, les volontaires participent ensemble à l’organisation de la vie collective. Souvent réparti·e·s en équipes, ils·elles élaborent les menus, participent aux courses, préparent les repas et s’assurent de la propreté des espaces communs.
Véritable acteur·ice de ton expérience, tu participeras aussi à la prise de décisions concernant les activités collectives et l’organisation du quotidien !
Accommodation is in tents, 10-15 minutes on foot from the fortress and 5 minutes on foot from the centre of the village. Everything is organised on-site with respect for the environment (waste sorting and composting) with the goal of promoting a more ecofriendly lifestyle.
Beyond the working hours, volunteers come together to organise daily life on the camp. Often divided into teams, they plan menus, help with the shopping, prepare meals, and ensure the cleanliness of shared spaces.
Fully involved in shaping your experience, you will also take part in decision-making regarding group activities and daily organization!

Au cœur d'un charmant petit village bourbonnais, le château de Montaigu-le-Blin est une imposante forteresse médiévale du XIIème, classée Monument Historique. Située sur une petite colline, cette forteresse offre un espace bucolique et intime, proche de la nature avec une belle vue sur les paysages alentours.
Depuis les années 80, des bénévoles participent chaque année à la sauvegarde, la rénovation et à l'animation touristique du château, alors pourquoi pas toi ?
Ces dernières années, la forteresse s'est refaite une beauté ! Les bénévoles ont continué à faire des travaux de maçonnerie traditionelle sur les murs du château et ont développé le potager médiéval au pied de la tour du Seigneur. A vous de prendre le flambeau !
Inside a lovely little French village, the castle of Montaigu le Blin is an impressive medieval fortress, classified as Historical Monument. It is located on the top of a hill, overlooking the countryside. Since 2002, volunteers have been participating, every summer, to the restoration of the castle. These last years, the fortress has regained its beauty! Since the 80s, volunteers come every year to restore and protect the castle. These last couple of years, volunteers restored the castle walls using traditional masonry techniques and developped the medieval vegetable garden at the bottom of the Lord's tower. This year, it's your turn to live an experience back in time!

On site are a kitchen, shower, toilets, and a common room; one of the rooms will be converted into a dormitory. For bedding, on the floor, Jeunesse et Reconstruction will provide mats, but you must bring your own sleeping bag and bed sheet You will prepare your meals as a group and you will be required to participate in daily chores (cooking, dish washing, cleaning, etc.). Our association is a living space that welcomes people from all walks of life every year. In 2023, this space for learning and experimentation inaugurated an associative canteen called ?Au bout du monde?. This project will involve continuing work to improve the outside entrance, so that visitors feel welcome and can easily find their way around. You'll be able to learn traditional masonry techniques for around 4 hours each morning. You'll take it in turns to help out with everyday tasks, including cooking, tending the garden and cleaning communal areas.

Afternoons and weekends will be devoted to leisure activities. You'll work with the activity leaders to organize and propose activities. Some activities are a must: visiting Besancon, team sports, all kinds of fun activities...

You'll be accommodated in our association's park, where we'll set up large collective tents (8 to 16 places). You'll sleep in a bunk bed. Bring a good comforter and your pillow! You'll have access to the house showers and toilets. There are also dry toilets outside. The site is equipped with a professional kitchen. Accompanied by the animators, your group will take turns preparing meals each day. At Beaumotte, we eat meat twice a week, and wifi access is limited in certain rooms of the house. There's no washing machine, so you'll need to bring your own washing powder and clothes for 15 days!

The community of Vellexon would like to establish a space for social connections in the heart of their town. To make it possible, this year we're continuing with the creation of a place that should soon host exchanges focused on solidarity and intergenerational links. To contribute to this development, you will be renovating the paving (floor) of the wash-house which is located next to this square for around 6 hours per day. You will learn techniques of traditional masonry (wall-building). There is no knowledge required! You will evolve as a team with the help of two leaders, sharing all tasks associated with collective life such as, cooking, cleaning, after work activities, etc.

The community of Vellexon-Queutrey-et-Vaudey (70130) is situated at 25km from Gray(70100), 30km from Vesoul (70000) and 50km from Besancon (25000) in the region ?Haute-Saone?.
May it be during the afternoons or the weekends, it will be your group that initiates and organizes the activities for the free time. The ideal programme will take into account the wishes of everybody, the local possibilities (hikes, local artists, summer concerts, ?chateaux?, etc) and the financial side of things.
You can also rely on the support of the villagers to organize moments of exchange, and they will be delighted to share with you and to give advice on how to best discover the local environment and enjoy your stay.

The commune will provide two areas especially for your group: the first will be dedicated to sleeping, with communal rooms for three or four people mixed-gender, with mattresses provided by the local population. Please bring your own covers, pillows or sleeping bags. The second space is a multi-purpose room with a kitchen, ideal for meals and socializing. Showers and laundry will be done in the homes of the locals. The worksite is only three minutes away by foot and for other trips like going shopping or visiting the surroundings, the locals will be gladly willing to help out.
Accompanied by the camp leaders, you will make the menu and prepare the meals each day, in turn. The budget is approx. 5? per day and person. There will be the possibility to eat vegetarian or vegan and plan accordingly, if necessary. Often you will share meals with the villagers giving you the opportunity to discover the local gastronomy and to share special moments together.

There are absolutely no requirements in terms of linguistic or technical abilities. Just be aware that you need to carry relatively small stones for the actual work.

Together we would like to build new furniture for the rooms in our guest house for children and youth groups. We will be sawing, drilling, screwing and hammering with professional tools and machines under the expert guidance of a carpenter. During your stay, there will also be other groups at the youth centre with whom you can sit around the campfire in the evening and chat.
We are delighted that a group of young people from the region with different disabilities and abilities will be part of the project. Together with the international volunteers, we are forming small teams that can support each other, learn from each other and grow together in the tasks. These mentorships enable an inclusive exchange in which everyone can contribute their individual str engths. Our aim is to create an open and respectful atmosphere in which all participants can actively take part in the work camp and gain new experiences.

Jugendhof Bessunger Forst e.V. is located on the edge of the forest between the city of Darmstadt and the village of Roßdorf. The suburban area marks the transition from the Rhine-Main region to the Odenwald low mountain range and is located 30 kilometres south of Frankfurt am Main and 50 kilometres north of the picturesque city of Heidelberg.
The Jugendhof is located on the edge of the Bessunger Forest, which is easy to explore from here. On hot summer days, the shady forest offers a good opportunity to cool off and the wide-open meadows invite you to enjoy a relaxing picnic. You can enjoy meetings in a wooden yurt, which was built from an international workcamp as well. An hour's walk through the woods and meadows takes you to a beautiful bathing lake with a small sandy beach. Darmstadt is also very interesting culturally, as it was one of the centres of European Art Nouveau at the beginning of the 20th century. The “Mathildenhöhe Artists Colony” in Darmstadt has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2021. We highly recommend a visit to the impressive and unique site, including the museum and the Orthodox chapel. Fancy more action? Then visit the climbing park high up in the trees with its very different levels of difficulty.

The volunteers live in our centrally located self-catering house ‘Sharewood Lodge’. In addition to a spacious kitchen and two bathrooms, there are three bedrooms in the house, each with five beds. In general, the buildings on the extensive grounds allow for all-day outdoor living.

After registration, we require a self-declaration in terms of legal protection for children and vulnerable persons. You will need working clothes, rainwear and, if necessary, swimming gear as well as sturdy closed shoes. Since it can get very cold in the forest at night, even in summer, please bring warm clothes and don't forget your sunscreen. Bed linen will be provided by the house. Please bring your own towels.

MITSUI OUTLET PARK is the first seaport-themed shopping mall in the Taichung port district of Taiwan. Our community, Dazhuang Community, is situated in the Taichung port district and is the largest community in Wuqi District with a strong agricultural culture. The blend of urban and traditional cultures makes Dazhuang Community a unique cultural feature in the area. It also has the highest population of both elderly and young people, with one out of every nine residents being an elder. As a result, Dazhuang Community has been dedicated to taking care of the elderly and will organize more plans and activities for teenagers in 2019. With more volunteers joining the community, we hope to offer better care and education to the elderly and young people and infuse much vigor into the community.

However, there is no ATM, local shops have a limited selection, and during the festival, the village can get quite crowded—so if you have any special needs, be sure to bring what you’ll need!
Bánkitó Festival has been a part of the town for 13 years, primarily around the Lakeshore and the Camp. Over the years, it has expanded to the Reeds and the Meadow, creating a unique atmosphere. The lake, the charming wooden cabins, and the hidden venues tucked away in small forest clearings all contribute to Bánkitó’s distinctive character. All of this takes place in the scenic surroundings of Lake Bánk, just a one-hour drive or a leisurely half-day bike ride from Budapest.

Every year, the best underground bands, theatres, and the majority of the NGO scene gather in a small lakeside village in Hungary. Participate in the country’s leading socially conscious small festival as a volunteer!
Bánkitó is Hungary’s biggest independent, socially conscious, cultural and community festival with a wide range of programmes throughout its three days (9-12 July 2025) in the summer from music through theatre to contemporary art. It offers concerts, theatre performances, exhibitions, civil initiatives, workshops, and round-table discussions about social justice issues, human rights, and the experiences and cultures of minorities. It takes place at Bánkitó, a small Hungarian village 60kms away from Budapest.
The music at the festival is progressive, contemporary, and constantly renewing, with the newest and most exciting bands of the Hungarian music scene. The civil/cultural programs always poke at important and actual topics, working towards understanding society’s issues with activists from NGOs, musicians, actors, and artists. Contemporary Hungarian theatre pieces will be showcased, and Hungary’s most exciting contemporary artists will transform the shores of Lake Bánk into an art exhibition.

Volunteers will be involved in weeding and planting new vegetation in the gardens, feeding llamas and sheep by preparing and delivering their food, enhancing animal enclosures through painting and cladding shelters, mowing grass to create new spaces and building fences. They'll also help painting fences, preparing for a final outdoor cultural event, setting up tents and organizing the space. If the weather doesn't cooperate, volunteers will assist with cleaning stables and maintaining farm buildings, ensuring there's always meaningful work to be done.

Location: Rochlov is a small traditional village in western Bohemia with only 310 inhabitants. There is a supermarket, a restaurant and a coffee-roasting plant. Phone coverage is good. ATMs and pharmacies are located only in nearby villages. Nevertheless, it is no problem to take the volunteers there by car if they need to. The closest biggest city is Pilsen.
Leisure time: Volunteers can go for a trip to the lake or dam. There is an improvised gym, darts and many beautiful routes for cycling or running. Volunteers can also enjoy a campfire, have a beer together, or simply relax. There is a football field and a makeshift gym nearby. Men can participate in training with the local futsal team.
Study part: Through trips and excursions to nearby towns and villages (Marianske Lazne, Utery, Cheb, Chotesov), volunteers will be introduced to West Bohemia and its rather complex history. Volunteers will also visit Pilsen and its famous brewery and museum of Pilsner Urquell.

Volunteers will be accommodated in two buildings approximately 70 metres apart. One building has 2 rooms with 2 beds, a kitchen with a small fridge and a bathroom with a shower. Some meals will be cooked by the volunteers themselves. Some will be prepared at a local restaurant. Volunteers can get coffee or tea from the coffee-roasting plant.

Taevaskoja Youth Camp is adventurous hiking camp that has been active for over 30 years. The aim of Taevaskoja camp is to support children s development through non-formal education. Taevaskoja is located in South-Estonia, about 220 km from Tallinn. The camp site is very close to the one of the most popular natural touristic place - Suur Taevaskoda (The Large Heaven s Hall), surrounded by beautiful forest and close to the one of the longest rivers in Estonia. Such location brings children closer to unspoiled nature and gives them an excellent opportunity to get acquainted with Estonian national heritage richly presented in the area. You will help the organisers in all phases of the festival. The main tasks will be:
1. Setting up the stage and the campground on the site of the festival.
2. Help to create the charming and handmade decorations of the festival site and help with the disassembly of the whole structure and surroundings on the last days.
3. Be available to assist in different areas: bar, stage, organisation, catering etc.
You will work closely with the local people from the association! Pegnitz is a small town in Franconia, Bavaria, near Nuremberg. You can find medieval and historic buildings and churches in the centre of the city. The city is known for its beers: It has a long tradition in brewery and the locals are very proud of it. The Bavarian region, in which Pegnitz is located, is called “Little Switzerland” due to its beautiful surrounding that invites extended adventures and hiking trips in the region. There are all kinds of trails and possibilities to experience the unique nature.

The local association Waldstock e.V. (https://waldstock.de/) promotes local youth activities in Pegnitz, a small town in Franconia, Bavaria, near Nuremberg. Its members are very motivated and involved in organizing projects like concerts, film festivals or soccer cups. For more than 20 years, they have been coordinating the “Waldstock” music festival, also know as “Umsonst und Draussen” festival, which translates to “outside & free of charge”. Waldstock has become a very important event for the cultural life in Pegnitz and the whole region as it attracts thousands of visitors every year. Summer school aimed at promoting youth learning about the value of nature and the environment by bringing them closer to and connecting them with the local natural ecosystem. This fosters environmental awareness and provides them with learning tools, as well as respect for nature and humanity, through activities focused on the local flora and fauna.
- Volunteers will prepare with the help of the coordinators and campleaders different activities and workshops for the local children (we are looking for committed and proactive participants).
- Volunteers will participate in relaxion workshops, excursions, activities in the rural world and natural sciencies, manual and creative activities.
A space free of screens, warm, for learning and fun among all young people and focused on nature will be created. The participant will be instructed and will instruct to become familiar with the true protagonists of the camps, nature and coexistence. They will learn to know, respect and value the land and the inhabitants who populate it.
Knowledge of English is mandatory and Spanish or Valencian is valued.
During the summer, temperatures can be very high, and weather conditions may not be optimal due to this.

This place of the Marina Baja is located between the sea and the mouintains and was the origin of the current Altea. Its white houses stand out. Greenlandic Children wants Camp Q to offer the kids and youngsters in Qeqertarsuaq a fantastic summer with a variety of fun and creative activities. The volunteers will decide and plan which activities to offer during the camp.
You should expect long days as the volunteer group typically start the workday at 10.00 and continue till after dinner in the evening. A typical day will consist of morning meeting, preparing for the activities, activities, cleaning up after activities, dinner and evaluation meeting.

Qeqertarsuaq is a small town on Disko Island, off the west coast of Greenland. It is known for its stunning natural scenery, including basalt mountains, lush Arctic vegetation, and rich wildlife. The town was founded in 1773 and has a history rooted in whaling and fishing. Today, it is a hub for scientific research and tourism, offering activities like hiking, dog sledding, and whale watching. Qeqertarsuaq is also home to the Arctic Station, a research facility operated by the University of Copenhagen.
By January 1st, 2025, there are 799 inhabitants in the town, of which 171 are under the age of 18, corresponding to 21,4 % of the population.
Clothing:
The average temperatures in Qeqertarsuaq are between 4 and 8 degrees Celsius. Therefor it is good to have layers of clothing (inner layers preferably of wool), gloves and headbands.
Language:
It is required that you speak English.
The main languages in Nanortalik are Greenlandic and Danish but many children speak English as well.

We expect you to stay in a shared bedroom with other volunteers of the same sex. You will stay at the school where kitchen and bathroom facilities will be available. We will divide the volunteers into cooking and cleaning teams. The group is responsible for shopping, cooking, cleaning, etc. All groceries are transported by ship. Therefore, you should expect a limited variation and be able to adapt to these local conditions. Most meals in Greenland are based on meat and fish.

Greenlandic Children conducts social activities in Greenland and Denmark for Greenlandic children and young people in vulnerable life situations. We emphasize that our efforts are established in close cooperation with local authorities, organizations, professionals, children, and young people and with respect for local needs, wishes, culture and language.
Greenlandic Children currently has ten ongoing projects in Greenland and Denmark and is present in all Greenlandic municipalities, as well as in Copenhagen, Aarhus, Aalborg, Esbjerg, Randers and Vejle. The organization has thirty employees and more than one hundred volunteers. The projects are financed by public funds, foundations, support, and sponsorship from companies as well as private members and contributors.

For the Summer Camp to run smoothly, we very much rely on volunteers, who are interested in helping with different practicalities. Your important effort will make a very positive change for the participants, as you will contribute to the framework of the Table Tennis Camp, which aims at empowering people, developing their skills, and bringing them together towards their common passion for table tennis.
The camp is especially good for you if you like to engage with people in a very international environment, and if you are interested in improving your teamwork and problem-solving skills because the work requires that you adapt to changes quickly.
When it comes to the specific tasks, there will be a rotation between them to make the days vary for all volunteers. These different tasks include assisting in the kitchen, with all practicalities such as cooking and serving the food to the other camp participants. Similar tasks include helping with cleaning assistance or driving shuttle buses to and from the airport, train station, and ferry terminals. Other tasks could be overseeing activities with the camp participants and the smallest children and finally helping in the administration with check-in, check-out, and room preparations.
It will also be possible to be a sparring partner in the Table Tennis Camp and interact with the camp participants. Therefore, it would be an advantage if you enjoy playing table tennis and would like to practice it some more, but no experience is needed. We welcome people at all levels! In addition, it will be possible for you to continue playing table tennis in your free time.
The program
As a volunteer, your work week will consist of 5 working days and 2 days off, though these days will be rotating between you. This means that you might have to work at the weekend, but then you will have time off during the week. Your workday will be no more than 7 hours, and you will be working with local volunteers. Work starts in the morning and the afternoon. Some tasks, like being a part of the administration or driving team, mean you must work at different times during the day.

During your three-week stay in Northern Jutland, you will also have time to explore the unique nature and interesting attractions in Denmark.
Your Work Camp leaders will help you and the group with organizing these activities in your spare time. It is free to enjoy the beautiful nature of Northern Jutland, but some activities such as museums and galleries might require an extra charge. The host will not cover additional charges.
The Work Camp will be taking place remarkably close to the beach, so there are incredibly good opportunities to go for a swim. It is also very much possible to explore the nearby towns by going sightseeing or shopping. For instance, you can arrange a day trip to Skagen, which is the Northern tip of Denmark where the two oceans meet. Sleeping + bathroom facilities:
The volunteers will be sleeping in classrooms at the local school. There will be mattresses, pillows, and bedding. The school is within walking distance from the Work Camp. It only takes a few minutes to get there. The bathrooms are next to the classrooms where you will be sleeping.
Meals + kitchen facilities:
All Work Camp participants eat in the canteen with all the other participants. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided by the Work Camp host.

English will be the only language spoken. All participants must be willing to speak English, even though being from the same country or have trouble with the English language. Try your best!

The Work Camp will be a part of our annual International Table Tennis Summer Camp. The exciting Summer Camp has existed for 18 years and is arranged by B75, which is a value-based table tennis club with professional trainers and players.
During the Summer Camp, 200 trainers and players from all over the world will gather for three weeks of learning, fun, friends-making, and sharing of their common passion for badminton. Volunteers are the key person to make the students, teachers and Local
community speak using English in daily life.
They learn English in the class but only in reading and writing (grammarly) but
very lacking in speaking with Each other due to the culture barrier. When there are
international volunteers, the environment in the school and community force to
use English and they also couple exchange with volunteers.
Workplaces
There will be 2 schools which are Ban Krogluek School and Ban Maab Grad School.
The local host may schedule Monday-Wednesday work in one school and Thursday
and Friday work in another school.
You will meet different classes each day. So the activities you prepare can be used
similarly in both school and each class.

Intercultural and Language (ICL) – Nakhon Ratchasima, learning and sharing the
intercultural and language still are the main purpose. Volunteers will share and exchange
culture, language, and knowledge with the local community and students in the school.
English as the global language and intercultural learning are important for local Thai people
to understand and be for global citizens. English is also the gateway to open mind and
knowledge. The project was created by VSA Thailand and has been successful for eight
years. Former volunteers came to give the opportunity for children in schools and the local
community. Many local people improved their English skills through exchanging with
international volunteers, or at least they try to speak the English language more and dare
to face and work with the foreigner even though they cannot speak English. Moreover,
volunteers’ activities impacted the local community. They used to stay lively and trusty
with the foreigner. Local people have a chance to learn, accept, and adopt the ways of life
with the different cultures.
Ban Krogluek School is a primary school, there are about 10 teachers and 100 students from
kindergarten (2-6 years old), pratomsuksa 1-6 (7-12 years old). VSA has sent volunteers
to this School since 2015.
Ban Maab Grad School is a primary school, there are about 9 teachers, 1 janitor and 60
students from kindergarten (2-6 years old), pratomsuksa 1-6 (7-12 years old). VSA has
sent volunteers to this School since 2022.

The camp will be at a 7 minutes distance by car from Montemor-o-Novo, transport for the activities will be assured.It is located at approximately at a 100 km distance from Lisbon, the Portuguese city capital and 35km from Evora.

The participants will be accommodated in individual tents which is located 5 km from Montemor-o-Novo.There the participants will cook breakfast and snacks; Lunch and dinner will be provided, exception for weekends where participants have to cook lunch and dinner. I temi Pace - Rifugiati - Stranieri sono declinati a partire dalla storia del campo di Fossoli, con una particolare attenzione alla fase più cruenta della guerra e dell’occupazione nazista e al periodo post-bellico. La settimana di volontariato si concentrerà sulla storia locale ed europea rispetto alle stragi di civili e alla difficile gestione di sfollati ed esuli, cercando di tracciare un collegamento con il tempo presente. La settimana si concluderà con le celebrazioni e le diverse attività legate a ricordare l’assassinio di 67 prigionieri del Campo di Fossoli, trucidati all’alba del 12 luglio 1944, con un colpo alla nuca.
La Seconda Guerra Mondiale estende le sue conseguenze molto oltre l’estate del
1945: nella sola Europa, milioni di persone devono affrontare spostamenti forzati,
distruzione e miseria. Il Campo di Fossoli, dopo la conclusione del conflitto,
si trasforma in abitazioni prima per orfani e successivamente per esuli istriani.
Lavoro
Il lavoro dei volontari consisterà in una attività di pulizia dai rifiuti all'interno e all'esterno del campo, nonché nel supporto all'organizzazione della giornata di commemorazione dell'eccidio di civili al Poligono di tiro del 12 luglio 1944, che si terrà nel weekend. Il supporto consisterà per lo più in attività di allestimento. I partecipanti al campo di volontariato si sposteranno in bicicletta.

Il campo si svolgerà nei luoghi di Carpi gestiti dalla Fondazione Fossoli che comprendono oltre al Campo di Fossoli situato a circa sei km dal centro, il Museo Monumento al Deportato Politico e Razziale e la ex Sinagoga in centro città.

Il Circolo Terre d'Argine APS sin dal 1984 si occupa delle tematiche ambientali che riguardano l'omonima Unione dei comuni del territorio. In particolare si è battuto per contrastare il consumo di suolo, per promuovere la raccolta differenziata domiciliare dei rifiuti, per la mobilità alternativa alla gomma, nonché organizzando una vasta attività di plogging.
La Fondazione Fossoli dal 1996 si occupa della diffusione della memoria storica mediante la conservazione, il recupero e la valorizzazione dell'ex campo di transito di Fossoli, del Museo Monumento al Deportato Politico e Razziale e delle ex Sinagoghe in Carpi. Svolge attività a carattere divulgativo, didattico e scientifico, rivolte in particolare alle scuole e ai giovani sui temi della memoria, nonché dei diritti umani, della pace e dell'educazione interculturale.
