Intercultural and Language (ICL) – Nakhon Ratchasima, learning and sharing the intercultural and language still are the main purpose. Volunteers will share and exchange culture, language, and knowledge with the local community and students in the school.
English as the global language and intercultural learning are important for local Thai people to understand and be for global citizens. English is also the gateway to open mind and knowledge. The project was created by VSA Thailand and has been successful for eight years. Former volunteers came to give the opportunity for children in schools and the local community. Many local people improved their English skills through exchanging with international volunteers, or at least they try to speak the English language more and dare to face and work with the foreigner even though they cannot speak English. Moreover, volunteers’ activities impacted the local community. They used to stay lively and trusty with the foreigner. Local people have a chance to learn, accept, and adopt the ways of life with the different cultures.
Ban Krogluek School is a primary school, there are about 10 teachers and 100 students from kindergarten (2-6 years old), pratomsuksa 1-6 (7-12 years old). VSA has sent volunteers to this School since 2015.

Mara Osero Wildlife, Culture, Conservation & Education Village
The Maasai tribe (or Maasai) is a unique and popular tribe due to their long preserved culture. Despite education, civilization and western cultural influences, the Maasai people have clung to their traditional way of life, making them a symbol of Kenyan culture.
Maasai's distinctive culture, dress style and strategic territory along the game parks of Kenya and Tanzania have made them one of East Africa's most internationally famous tourist attractions.
The Maasai people reside in both Kenya and Tanzania, living along the border of the two countries. They are a smaller tribe, accounting for only about 0.7 percent of Kenya's population, with a similar number living in Tanzania. Maasai’s speak Maa, a Nilotic ethnic language from their origin in the Nile region of North Africa.
The Samburu tribe is the closest to the Maasai in both language and cultural authenticity.
Through rituals and ceremonies, including circumcision, Maasai boys are guided and mentored by their fathers and other elders on how to become a warrior. Although they still live their carefree lives as boys
- raiding cattle, chasing young girls, and game hunting - a Maasai boy must also learn all of the cultural practices, customary laws and responsibilities he'll require as an elder.
The wildlife, culture, conservation and education village centre offers volunteers the ultimate opportunity to explore, learn and interact with the Maasai community and their culture. The Mara conservation gives them a platform to serve, interact and also live like the Maasai people. Above all, the Conservancy is managed according to a model that protects the delicate eco-system and benefits the landowners who are the Maasai people.
The wild life, culture, conservation and education in Kenya is home to the big cats situated on the mararienda most point of the Greater Mara Ecosystem; borders the Olchorro Oliroua Conservancy to the south, and MMNC to the East. The important focus of the conservancy is livestock improvement through innovative cattle management programs, running alongside novel tourism projects.
The habitat comprises wooded acacia savannah with open plains on flat plateaus, riverine acacia forest and rocky, undulating hills which provide a varied habitat for browsing and grazing ungulates, as well as hideout thickets for the predators. The Mara River runs alongside the conservancy. There is a large number of giraffe and resident buffalo that live close to the Olerai boundary along the Mara River. Elephants frequent the conservancy and there is a pride of lion based on the edge of oloisukut. There are many hippos and crocodiles in the section of the river that borders the conservancy and the riverine forests which provide an area popular with leopards. Rare species such as Aardvark, Caracal, serval cat and Aardwolf are occasionally found.

You will live with a Nepali family close to the school, and experience their hospitality, friendliness and immerse yourself in their unique lifestyle. You’ll be welcomed as a member of the family and of the local community. At least one member of the family will speak English. Nepali houses are simple, with basic facilities (squat toilet, shower, kitchen, etc). Most families DO NOT have hot showers, but most of them have western style toilets. Just don’t expect to find the same facilities as in your home country. You’ll get your ow room and the family will respect your privacy. In order to make the most of your experience in Nepal, we encourage to interact and socialize as much as possible with your host family ad take part in their daily activities. You’ll find cities to be more similar to your country, while in the countryside many Nepalis grow their own vegetables and typically ow cows, buffalos, goats or chickens. You will be served food twice a day: breakfast around 9-10 am ad diner around 7-8 pm. You’ll soon realize that tea is the most popular beverage in Nepal: whenever you visit a family you’ll be offered a cup. When and for how long? Long term volunteering lasts 2 to 5 months. It takes some time to get used to the different lifestyle, so we advise to stay for as long as possible. Camps start the first Monday of every month. Location we provide living all over Nepal. Depending on your interest and willingness, you ca choose to stay in a variety of different places: in or around the Kathmandu Valley, Pokhara, Tanahun, Lamjung, Chitwan, Makwanpur or Nawalparasi. You could stay in a secluded village, where people live in a more traditional way and provide for themselves through farming, which is also a great opportunity to explore the real rural Nepal, or you could opt for a more urban and modern Nepal experience in one of the bustling and fast-growing cities, like Kathmandu or Pokhara. What to bring Seasonal clothing, sleeping bag, comfortable shoes, mosquito net, music player, reading material, photographs from your country. Also art related material is appreciated. Pencils, pens, notebooks and textbooks for the kids are also greatly appreciated, and can be bought for a reasonable price in Kathmandu prior to your departure. Before the project Before your project starts, we strongly advise that you attend our 3-day orientation seminar at the Training Center in Kathmandu, which aims to provide basic knowledge about the Nepalese education system, culture, dress, food, as well as detailed information about the project, the school, Nepali language classes and much more. The orientation seminar starts on the first Monday of every month, but can be arranged according to each volunteer’s travel itineraries. During the orientation you’ll be staying at our dormitory in Kathmandu along with the other volunteers waiting to go to their respective placements. Every morning and evening you’ll eat together with FFN staff. Requirements Volunteers must be at least 18yo. No formal education is required, but relevant qualifications are very much appreciated. Positive attitude, respect and an open mind are obviously very important, as well as an interest in discovering the Nepali culture.

Nepal is a very safe country, and at the moment there is NO political conflict. Eve during the conflict, Nepal was ever unsafe for volunteers; we hosted several volunteers from around the world during that period. All our long term projects are located in safe areas. You will stay with families that have hosted volunteers before, and you will be regularly in contact with FFN members. However, problems or misunderstandings may arise if you’re not respectful of the culture you’ll be living in. Below are some important points to take into consideration:
1. you might stay in places where medical facilities are not as close as you’re used to.
2. Don’t walk alone at night, and brig someone trustworthy if you ever feel unsafe.
3. Don’t walk alone in forests or any other isolated areas. Be careful near rivers, as they usually have strong currents. Don’t go around with strangers, or people who were not introduced by FFN or the host family. Don’t carry around huge amounts of money.
4. Write down the contact information of the family you’ll be staying with (host father’s name, address and phone number) and share it with someone in your home country.
5. Avoid alcohol or drugs, as the host family might be culturally sensitive towards those things.
6. Don’t enter the host family’s praying room or the kitchen without permission.
7. Communicate; feel free to talk with your host family about any discomfort or problems you may have regarding your stay, room and food (tell your host family about your likes and dislikes, and let them know whether you’re vegetarian or not).
8. Don’t forget to tell your host family if you’re planning to eat out at least 2-3 hours before
9. Don’t leave lights o in your room. Resources are very scarce in Nepal.
10. Keep your room tidy and clean.
11. Ask permission to your host family before using bicycles, radios, soap, detergents, TV’s or books that may be in your room (repair or fix items you may accidentally break).
12. Keep your room locked every time you’re out or away from home.
13. Wash your own clothes and plates.
14. Don’t expect any western food when staying with your host family.
15. All modern means of communication are available in Nepal (internet, phone, etc.); prepaid mobile SIM cards are easily available, but in the countryside reception is not always great. Maximum number of volunteers 1 at a time

SEEDS programme combines learning, sharing, hands-on activities, getting to know Iceland, its culture, having fun, exploring the city and its attractions, as stunning natural attractions in possible excursions. Participants should prepare to share environmental issues from their countries and should be ready to spend time outdoors walking medium distances during activities and sightseeing. Note this project is a learning/sharing camp and not a standard workcamp. This project has a smaller volunteer work part and puts a bigger emphasis on the personal learning process than on the community impact. One of the two options below is also included in this camp as a hands-on volunteering activity day:1. A day trip to the Hot River area, combined with a cleanup or work with an environmental project in the area, or2. A day trip to the Reykjanes peninsula, combined with a coastal cleanup in the area.
