The restoration of the ancient dry stone walls of Monte Pallano is a project that combines respect for tradition with the enhancement of the landscape and cultural heritage. Dry stone architecture has been recognized as UNESCO heritage since 2018. These walls, built without the use of mortar, are a testament to the ingenuity of the farmers and shepherds who once inhabited this land. They hold great historical significance: they were used to clear fields for cultivation, mark the paths traveled by flocks, and create terraces necessary for farming on steep terrain.
The restoration of these dry stone walls involves several phases: clearing vegetation, reconstructing the wall, and reinforcing the structures.
Lavoro
The restoration of the trail involves manual labor, with volunteers dedicating at least 6 hours a day, primarily during the early morning hours. Participants will assist Legambiente in restoring the dry stone walls that line the path of Lago Grande and the Cyclamen Trail. The project includes cleaning the trail, as well as reclaiming sections overrun by vegetation, which threaten the stability of the walls.

The Monte Pallano area is enchantingly beautiful, rich in natural and archaeological wonders. Its strategic location and the presence of water sources have made it a hub of human settlement over the centuries, as evidenced by the remains of the ancient Pallanum settlement, the impressive Megalithic Walls, and signs of human presence from the Neolithic to the Hellenistic-Roman period. In more recent times, farmers and shepherds frequented Pallano and left traces of stone from their passage, altering the landscape. Tornareccio is a village famous for its open-air mosaic museum.

By train: Arrive at Pescara train station, then take a bus from Pescara train station to Tornareccio (Ch), or travel by train to Fossacesia - Torino di Sangro station and then take a bus to Tornareccio. Alternatively, take a bus to Atessa (the city before Tornareccio) and contact Legambiente volunteers to arrange a car ride for the last part of the journey null

In-depth exploration of the agro-pastoral culture of Monte Pallano; visit to the mosaics; visit to a beekeeping farm; visit to the megalithic walls of Monte Pallano.
Alloggio
Volunteers will be accommodated in a repurposed school building equipped with a self-managed kitchen. The diet will be eco-sustainable, focusing on local products with minimal meat consumption.

Volunteers should have an interest in the theme of the project, feel comfortable working and living in a group setting, and have a desire to explore a new country and a small village immersed in nature.

The Legambiente Geo A.P.S. association was born in Atessa in 1989 thanks to the enthusiasm and the care of a group of young volunteers. Since 35 years our association deals with the improvement of the environmental and cultural quality in our area in order to satisfy the need of participation, cohesiveness, knowledge and identity of people. During the last years we have fighted against waste trade, land consumption, for the Sangro river safeguard and the Val di Sangro evironmental quality. Thanks to our devouted and determined work, we set up the SIC Monte Pallano and Lecceta d’ Isca d’ Archi area. It is a place where environmental and archaeoligical excellences coexist. Legambiente, in this area, manages Casanatura Fontecampana center, a place where people of any age can meet each other and share their love for nature and environment and broaden their knowledges about them through various activities. Since 2017, tanks to volunteers, Legambiente runs the recycling center in Atessa.

Il campo si svolge nello splendido scenario dell’Area Marina Protetta Penisola del Sinis – Isola di Mal di Ventre, istituita nel 1997 a tutela di questo territorio costiero delicato quanto prezioso. Il comune di Cabras, gestore dell’Area Marina Protetta, da anni è impegnato in un importante percorso di conservazione della biodiversità e della tutela del mare, dedicando risorse allo sviluppo di un turismo sostenibile e responsabile, puntando quindi sull’uso rispettoso del mare e del territorio da una parte, e sulla valorizzazione del patrimonio culturale e archeologico dall’altra. I campi di volontariato che Legambiente realizza quest’estate, in collaborazione con l’AMP e il comune, si inseriscono in questo contesto; gli obiettivi sono di sensibilizzare gli abitanti e i turisti a una fruizione corretta dell'ambiente marino e costiero e di migliorare l’offerta di turismo sostenibile sull’isola, attraverso la sorveglianza dell’area protetta, il monitoraggio e la pulizia dai rifiuti.

II volontari garantiranno un presidio costante dell’AMP e svolgeranno le seguenti attività: informazione e sensibilizzazione dei turisti sulla corretta fruizione della spiaggia, con particolare attenzione alla tutela delle spiagge con granuli di quarzo, pulizia delle coste dalla presenza di eventuali rifiuti spiaggiati, monitoraggio e catalogazione dei rifiuti spiaggiati provenienti dal mare, raccolti secondo la normativa europea del Beach Litter e Park Litter nel caso di pulizie delle dune e zone retrodunali.

A ovest di Cabras, la penisola del Sinis, si protende nel mare con una costa bassa e rocciosa, estendendosi nell’entroterra con un altopiano brullo e una bassa macchia mediterranea odorosa di rosmarino e di ginepro. Alla scogliera si alternano anche spiagge memorabili: a nord di capo Mannu le dune e le sabbie di Is Arenas sono coperte da una storica pineta, mentre a sud la costa si articola in cale di sabbia, promontori rocciosi e stagni. A sud delle suggestive scogliere di Su Tingiosu si trovano alcuni gioielli naturalistici, le spiagge di granuli quarzosi (del tutto simili a chicchi di riso) di Mari Ermi e Is Arutas. Alle spalle delle spiagge, di grande interesse naturalistico lo stagno di Cabras, e la laguna di Mistras, mentre di grandissima suggestione sono le rovine della città, prima nuragica poi fenicia e infine romana, di Tharros, situata proprio in riva al mare.

Attività formative
I volontari saranno coinvolti in attività di formazione tenute dai responsabili di Legambiente e dal personale dell’AMP sulle caratteristiche naturalistiche e storico-culturali del territorio, sull'avifauna e fauna selvatica del territorio e sulle attività di lavoro. Sono previsti focus sulla raccolta differenziata. Verranno organizzate anche delle passeggiate ed escursioni nell'entroterra del parco con relative informazioni sulla flora dell'area. Verrà inoltre organizzata una vista al CRES, il Centro Recupero Tartarughe della zona.

Ostello di Funtana Meiga - casa del Parco. A circa 30 min a piedi dalla borgata marina di San Giovanni di Sinis: l’ostello è dotato di camere con 4 posti letto ciascuna con un bagno comune con doccia ogni due camere. Sono presenti una cucina per la preparazione dei pasti e spazi esterni per il relax dei volontari.
Requisiti e materiali
Buona attitudine a camminare e andare in bicicletta. Disponibilità al confronto con turisti e fruitori delle spiagge. Buona sopportazione del caldo estivo che può raggiungere temperature alte soprattutto in alcuni periodi.

The Eifel is Germany's youngest volcanic region. There are more mineral springs and volcanoes here than anywhere else in Germany.
The project helps, for example, to create climate-resilient forests. Young plants from last year's reforestation are being released on some farms. In most cases these are beech, oak, chestnut, sycamore and cherry trees. Many of these plants are covered to protect them from browsing by deer. You will also check these.
At the Glaadt castle ruins in Jünkerath, you will remove vegetation from the wall to protect it from decay. Removing fences in some nature conservation areas is also on the agenda.
Another major topic involves school activities at the Realschul-Plus locations in Jünkerath and Stadtkyll. In Jünkerath, we are launching an outdoor fitness park and redesigning the green classroom. In Hillesheim you will be helping in designing the school yard. Here we will also be in contact with pupils and teachers, so you will be able to meet some locals.

Jünkerath is located in the middle of the Volcanic Eifel. There is an optional hike to the maars (Saturdays) and an excursion to the Rursee lake (Wednesdays). There are numerous excursion possibilities, e.g. to Cologne, Trier and Luxembourg City. Your accommodation, the forest youth camp, is in an idyllic but secluded location in the middle of the forest - ideal for all nature lovers!

You will stay in log cabins with shared rooms at the forest youth camp. The log cabins are located in the middle of the forest. There are sufficient sanitary facilities, a communal kitchen, which must be shared with other guests, a lounge and dining room.
You cook together. You will be provided with money for shopping. Vegetarian or vegan meals are possible. Please indicate any intolerances when registering.

Dal 2017 Legambiente e Diversamente Marinai sono impegnati nella campagna “Vele Spiegate”. In questo contesto Diversamente Marinai propone campi di volontariato in barca a vela di una settimana nell'Arcipelago Toscano. Il progetto prevede la pulizia delle spiagge poco accessibili via terra, il monitoraggio dei rifiuti, il monitoraggio e il controllo delle tracce delle tartarughe marine Caretta Caretta, inoltre andremo alla scoperta dei sentieri che incontreremo nelle insenature dove ci fermeremo e mapperemo quelli che non sono presenti sulle carte. Il progetto mira alla conoscenza del mare attraverso la navigazione e alla creazione di team affiatati e motivati. Per questo i partecipanti impareranno la marineria antica e a farsi equipaggio a bordo di un ketch a vela del 1922. Inoltre, saranno formati sulle principali linee guida in termini di sostenibilità ambientale della fruizione del mare. Non ci può essere vera salvaguardia dell’ambiente senza saper apprezzare il paesaggio naturale. Il campo di lavoro vuole realizzare interventi concreti per migliorare la qualità ambientale mostrando all'equipaggio come vivere sul mare e con il mare sia un’esperienza indimenticabile. Le attività del campo sono arricchite dalla pratica quotidiana della riduzione degli sprechi che la vita di bordo comporta e dalla possibilità di spostarsi utilizzando prevalentemente il vento. Vele Spiegate è un progetto inserito nella Carta Europea del Turismo Sostenibile del Parco Nazionale Arcipelago Toscano per il periodo 2021-2025. Didattica della vela e la vita di bordo: l’attività prevede un corso di primo livello di navigazione a vela e conduzione di un’imbarcazione storica, attraverso la sperimentazione diretta delle nozioni acquisite.
Pulizia e monitoraggio delle spiagge accessibili solo dal mare: il progetto prevede la pulizia di alcune spiagge difficilmente accessibili via terra, attraverso la rimozione dei rifiuti. In tale occasione saranno anche monitorati i rifiuti attraverso la tecnica del Beach litter riportando dati e riflessioni su appositi moduli, fornendo dati che saranno utilizzati per scopi scientifici.
Ricerca e monitoraggio delle tracce della tartaruga Caretta caretta: i partecipanti impareranno a riconoscere le tracce della tartaruga e saranno impegnati anche nella ricerca delle stesse e nella sensibilizzazione di cittadini e turisti.
Mappatura sentieri: verrà monitorato lo stato dei sentieri che collegano le principali vie sentieristiche dell’isola alle spiagge e insenature, raggiungibili prevalentemente a piedi, e presso le quali faremo sosta con la nostra imbarcazione; e eventuale pulizia o segnalazione delle criticità riscontrate

L'Arcipelago toscano è formato da un gruppo di sette isole maggiori, di cui la più grande è l'isola d'Elba, più alcune minori, secche e scogli situati tra la terraferma toscana e la Corsica. L'arcipelago è bagnato da quattro mari: il mar Ligure a nord dell'isola d'Elba, il canale di Piombino a est, il mar Tirreno a sud e il canale di Corsica a ovest delle coste elbane. Il canale di Corsica e il canale di Piombino possono essere considerati come canali naturali di collegamento tra il mar Ligure e il mar Tirreno, rispettivamente a ovest e ad est dell'isola d'Elba.

Attività formative
Acquisizione delle conoscenze veliche di base per la conduzione di un’imbarcazione in sicurezza. Acquisizione delle conoscenze di base di marineria storica. Incremento della conoscenza di alcuni ambienti naturali dell’Arcipelago Toscano e della sua biodiversità. Apprendimento relativo alle emergenze ecologiche dell’ecosistema marino e costiero e correlazione con le abitudini di consumo e trattamento dei rifiuti. Attività formative di base volte al riconoscimento delle tracce della tartaruga marina (Caretta Caretta).
Alloggio
I partecipanti alloggeranno su un ketch a vela in legno del 1922 di 16,5 metri. I pasti verranno preparati in barca e si seguirà un'alimentazione prevalentemente vegetariana.

Spirito di adattamento e amore per il mare. Per un comfort ideale, non essere alti più di 1,85 mt.

L’A.S.D. Diversamente Marinai è stata fondata nel 2011 ed ha come obiettivo principale quello di rendere accessibile il mondo della vela e della navigazione a tutti, integrando le marginalità sociali e le disabilità. Nel corso di questi anni ha promosso diverse iniziative, collaborando con la Regione Toscana e il Progetto GiovaniSì con associazioni locali e nazionali. Legate al territorio dell’Isola d’Elba le rotte percorse dalle nostre imbarcazioni hanno solcato l’Arcipelago Toscano portando nei porti equipaggi misti, progetti scolastici e percorsi di trekking ambientale.

Swimtrekking significa letteralmente trekking a nuoto: è un modo originale per vivere e sentire l’ambiente, un viaggio in mare con maschera, boccaglio, pinne, muta, portando con sé tutto il necessario per l’escursione in un piccolo scafo in vetroresina da trainare: il barkino. I campi Swimtrekking si pongono l’obiettivo di proporre un’attività in mare che, attraverso l’escursionismo e l’esplorazione, consenta ai partecipanti di maturare un’esperienza autentica di confronto sulle tematiche della tutela e della salvaguardia dell’ambiente marino, anche e soprattutto attraverso la conoscenza della flora e della fauna.
Attraverso la guida di istruttori qualificati, i volontari esploreranno e monitoreranno i fondali marini e i tratti costieri contribuendo alla raccolta dati su noci di mare, meduse, delfini e tartarughe attraverso l’applicazione AVVISTAPP (sviluppata e gestita dall’OGS di Trieste). Inoltre, verranno recuperati i rifiuti in ma-re e lungo la costa che saranno poi utilizzati per la realizzazione di opere artistiche che saranno fotografate, smaltite e, ove possibile, differenziate. Si ricorda che tutti gli istruttori della ASD Swimtrekking hanno una formazione specifica per guidare e seguire le varie fasi di un campo Swimtrekking abbracciando le competenze tecniche della disciplina, conoscenze di biologia marina e di recupero e riciclaggio artistico dei rifiuti.
Lavoro
I volontari recupereranno i rifiuti dal mare durante le nuotate lungo costa e li trasporteranno a riva. Al ter-mine delle attività in acqua si progetteranno e realizzeranno delle opere artistiche, utilizzando solo i mate-riali recuperati dal mare e dalle coste. I rifiuti saranno riassemblati dando sfogo alla fantasia per produrre nuove forme che raccontano l’esperienza vissuta in mare. Il lavoro artistico verrà poi documentato attra-verso foto e video. Al termine dell’attività, le opere verranno smaltite seguendo le normative locali di rac-colta differenziata. I volontari svolgeranno inoltre le attività di Marine and Beach Litter- indagine sulla quantità e tipologia di rifiuti raccolti in mare e sulle spiagge raggiunte durante le escursioni, al fine di contribuire alla Direttiva Europea sulla Marine Strategy. A fine campo sarà realizzato un video con tutti i contenuti delle attività svolte e consegnato ai partecipanti (munirsi di penna USB). Altro aspetto fondamentale del campo sarà il censimento di specie marine e delle meduse. L’OGS (Istituto Nazionale di Oceanografia e di Geofisica Sperimentale proseguirà la collaborazione con Swimtrekking in un progetto Citizen Science estendendo per il 2025 la raccolta di informazioni su ogni avvistamento di meduse, tartarughe di mare, noci di mare e delfini.

l’area che interessa la provincia di Sant’Antioco presenta un significativo patrimonio storico-paesaggistico e ambientale.
È possibile visitare zone archeologiche e rurali che vanno dal prenuragico al nuragico, senza dimenticare le testimonianze fenice e puniche, oltreché romane. Dal punto di vista naturalista il mare offre una vasta gamma di panorami sopra e sotto l’acqua: spiagge, falesie, zone umide e grandi lagune si intrecciano con distese di macchia mediterranea.

Attività formative
I volontari, adeguatamente informati in merito a flora e fauna marina avranno il compito di censire, catalogare e studiare i comportamenti delle meduse, noci di mare, tartarughe e delfini incontrate durante le attività di esplorazione lungo costa. I volontari seguiranno inoltre le direttive tema dei progetti Marine and Beach Litter per la conservazione dell'ambiente naturalistico.
Alloggio
Villa Ambra si trova in aperta campagna nel cuore di Sant’Antioco a circa 2 chilometri dal mare (5 minuti in macchina) e si divide in 3 appartamenti spaziosi e confortevoli. Gli appartamenti presentano un totale di 6 camere da letto, 3 bagni con doccia e la cucina e possono ospitare sino ad un massimo di 14 persone.
Per quanto riguarda i pasti, la prima colazione sarà organizzata in appartamento. Il pranzo sarà preparato al sacco e verrà riposto nei barkini. Le cene saranno organizzate e preparate su base self-catering, nella cucina dell’appartamento.

L’attività dello Swimtrekking migliora la propria tecnica individuale nel nuoto, sviluppa l’autocontrollo e la conoscenza di sé e di una serie di tecniche quali l’apnea e il salvamento, studia la flora e la fauna, il moto ondoso, i venti e le correnti, rafforza e accresce le dinamiche del gruppo.
Sarà quindi fondamentale che tutti i volontari sappiano nuotare i due stili principali: lo stile libero e lo stile dorso. Specifichiamo inoltre che non sono assolutamente importanti i tempi di percorrenza e la tecnica indi-viduale ma una certa abitudine all’attività fisica. Si richiede quindi una certa consuetudine con l’attività spor-tiva di qualsiasi genere sia pur blanda. Le persone molto sedentarie non sono adatte a questo tipo di espe-rienza. Chiunque può quindi affrontare in maniera positiva l’esperienza di un campo Swimtrekking se interessato a sperimentare le conoscenze da noi proposte.

Le attività Swimtrekking coinvolgono bambini, adolescenti, famiglie, adulti e diversamente abili e seguono un progetto ambientale e sociale condotto da un team di educatori e tecnici del settore.

Are you looking for an exciting project where you can get active and do something for the environment at the same time? Then Woodland Growth (German: Waldwuchs) Flensburg is the right place for you!
Waldwuchs Flensburg is a project of the Flensburger Jugendring e.V., which was launched in 2019. Waldwuchs is known for its work in the field of ?Education for Sustainable Development? (ESD) - and not only in Flensburg, but also nationwide! Waldwuchs Climate Embassy is located on the outskirts of the city, right next to a forest and nature reserve. There is a large outdoor area, which is used jointly with a neighbouring youth centre.
You will help to improve the grounds and premises of the climate embassy according to ecological standards. In small teams, you will build flower and raised beds, a fire pit, a pizza and bread oven and create cool seating from tree trunks. You will also whitewash the facade and produce seminar materials.
You will learn the basics of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and take part in exciting workshops and activities. You will visit the Waldwuchs Arboretum, a meadow orchard with old fruit varieties, including harvesting for your meals, take part in the workshop ?Climate change - sustainability - globalisation? and get to know the project ?Villekula - Verein fur Natur- und Gesundheitsbildung e.V.? (Organisation for nature and health education) as part of a rally to explore the site and its offers. Last but not least, you can collect edible mushrooms for the final barbecue during an expert forest tour.

The Flensburg Youth Ring (Flensburger Jugendring) is the host of the youth centre DIE EXXE (www.flensburger-jugendring.de ? only in German) and will try to invite one to three Flensburg youths to participate in your project.
The Flensburger Jugendring, founded in 1949, unites youth associations and youth communities active in Flensburg. The purpose of the Flensburg Youth Ring is to promote youth work. As a representation of interests, it takes a stand vis-a-vis
public, elected representatives and authorities on issues of youth policy and youth law.
The youth centre "Exxe" is an open place used by children and young people aged between eight and eighteen. The staff of the "Exxe" try to create a place of trust, joy, creativity and experimentation.
Waldwuchs Flensburg (Woodland Growth Flensburg)
Waldwuchs Flensburg is a project that promotes climate and environmental protection in Flensburg and Schleswig-Holstein. Initiated by school pupil Jannis Ide and his family, pupils and volunteers plant trees in the areas provided. The Flensburg Youth Council took over the sponsorship and Mayor Simone Lange is the patron. The project offers workshops and awards tree sponsorships to promote awareness of sustainability and actively contribute to climate protection. Waldwuchs is supported by various partners, including the city council and local organisations.
The ijgd has been organising volunteer service programmes since 1949. We are an independent, non-profit association for international youth work, a recognised independent youth welfare organisation, and one of the largest and oldest workcamp organisations in Germany. Each year, we assist around 5,000 young people into volunteer work in Germany and abroad. We give them the opportunity to be creative, act in solidarity, take responsibility for themselves, and discover their own true potential and strengths. Our principles: Ecological learning, voluntary contribution, self-organisation, social development, intercultural learning, gender equality, anti-racism/anti-discrimination and political education.

Children and parents will work together when possible (e.g. helping with cooking, collecting wood, harvesting vegetables and gardening). Work will be organized in two groups. The first one will be working in a nature reserve located 3km away from the campsite, their work will consist of mowing grass, raking and collecting grass. Please note that the meadows can be very wet; bring waterproof working shoes (or rubber boots), working gloves, a raincoat and a hat to protect yourself from the sun. The second group will be working on the campsite preparing food, collecting wood, doing maintenance tasks or working in the nearby forest.

Location: The workcamp takes place in the Bohemian Forest near Stara Knizeci Hut. The campsite is located in the valley of the Celni stream, an isolated part of the village of Lesna in the Bohemian Forest near the German border. There is limited phone coverage. The nearest bus stop is Stara Knizeci Hut and the nearest bigger town is Tachov where you can find ATMs, pharmacies, doctors etc. The campsite is located about 30 minutes walk from the nearest bus station. Bus runs once a day to Tachov.
Leisure time: The main activity is hiking in the surrounding countryside. You can visit the ruins of the Zahaji castle or go on trips to nearby towns (e.g. Marianske Lazne). The project is situated on the border with Germany; a trip to Germany could be an option. Besides, you can try archery, play games or experience an Indian sauna. If you have any games, musical instruments or any other activity you could share or teach the group in the campsite conditions, you are welcome to bring them.
Study part: It includes evening discussions about climate, environment, sustainability and sustainable camps around the fire. You will have the unique opportunity to try archery, participate in fun games and learn to recognize the stars. Also, as you will be living in close contact with nature, you will improve your camping skills and learn a lot about local fauna and flora.

Volunteers will be accommodated in tee-pees with a fireplace in the centre. You will sleep on wooden pads and mattresses stuffed with hay. Nights in the forest might be very cold, even frosty, so bring a very warm sleeping bag, camping mat and some warm clothes. You will bathe in a small river with cold water next to the campsite, the toilets are outdoors. Everyone will cook together as a group on a fireplace. The food is only vegetarian (or vegans / gluten free variants). You can charge your cell phone with a small solar-electricity generator. There is limited phone coverage and no Wifi.

In the first week, you will work with local foresters in the wood of Jena. You tasks will include various environmental works, e.g. maintaining footpaths, lookout points and shelters. Your help will be needed for different nature protection projects. Please be prepared for environmental works to help the rangers only outside.
In the second week, the volunteers will help the environmental organisation ?Fuchsturmgesellschaft? to chop down trees for a better visibility and let a bright landscape appear from the way leading to the tower and maintenance work in the flora-fauna habitat. Your help will be needed in the Education Path; also, huts need renovation or maintenance.
This is a camp for nature lovers! Work can be physically challenging at times.

Jena is with about 100.000 inhabitants the 2nd biggest city in Thuringen and is situated on the banks of the river Saale, surrounded by white and grey calcite mountains in the eastern part of Thuringen. Jena is famous for the high-tech Zeiss Optical Instruments, the Schiller University and the Zeiss-Planetarium, which is the oldest continuously operating planetarium in the world. The city of Jena and its surroundings present many good opportunities for recreation and relaxing.
Leisure Time:
Please notice that Jena city is far away from your accommodation, so better be ready to spend lots of time by yourselves, enjoying games / sports and outdoor activities. We can go hiking and have cycling tours in this beautiful area. We can also make trips to other cities, for example we can travel to Weimar, which is well known as the workplace of the poets Goethe and Schiller. You?ll be able to learn more about history, as we could visit the former concentration camp Buchenwald. The student city of Jena offers many cultural possibilities to explore. Free-time activities will mainly depend on your ideas and wishes.

Accommodation:
Volunteers will be accommodated in an isolated hostel on a hill in the Western part of Jena. Your only neighbours will be the woodland animals. All bed linen will be provided. We have the chance to have campfires, play ping-pong and volleyball, to go swimming and so on. A washing machine is available. There will be no internet access in the accommodation.
Food:
Full board, you will get the possibility to cook traditional meals occasionally. Please be prepared for typical German food. You will have cold breakfast and supper (bread!) and a warm meal for dinner.

She started this home for senior citizens who need quality home care services to seniors with limited mobility or dementia and hence social interaction. The founder wants to keep the seniors active and engaged through physical, mental and social activities, all in the comfort of their home.The workcamp was revived in 2023 and in 2024, 8 volunteers from Japan and Hong Kong did great work!

Volunteers will be working with waste products like polythene items, discarded vehicle tyres, water bottles, cans, old furniture, unused clothes, eco-bricks, farm waste and bamboos etc to recycle them and make products of uses. This will involve education and building entrepreneurial skills among staff and local communities. For over four years, RUCHI has already been involved in creative use of bye products, waste materials or unused/unwanted items into new usable materials.

Ruchi campus is located near Bandh village. It is 30 km from Kalka and 60 km from Chandigarh. Bandh village is small located in interior mountainous area and the volunteers will have a unique opportunity to live with nature in a peaceful environment. RUCHI campus is one km. from the village. Self organized city tours and excursions. Old Sikh and Hindu temples in the near vicinity can be visited. Nearby Kasauli town is another hill station as a tourist attraction. A visit to Shimla will offer an opportunity to see high Himalayan Mountains.

This camp allows volunteers to learn about global and local environmental issues through non-formal activities such as workshops, discussions, presentations and visits, as well as to contribute directly to environment protection by joining outdoor cleanup tasks. These cleanup tasks may be arranged in partnership with the above mentioned organisations or run solely by SEEDS. We also aim to involve the local community, so some of our events may be open to the public. We hope participants will learn how to plan and carry out their own trash cleaning projects back at home. This project is based on similar activities around the world, where outstanding results have been achieved with volunteers. Volunteers can choose one of the two options below, included as hands-on volunteering activity in the camp:1. A day trip combining a visit to the HellisheiE(i geothermal power plant, a trash collection in the area, and the Hot River Hike, a hike up a valley filled with hot springs where one can bathe. 2. A day trip to the Reykjanes Peninsula, combined with a coastal cleanup in the area.Please note that all activities are subject to weather conditions and the availability of our partners.This camp combines learning, sharing, hands-on work and fun. No previous experience is needed. Volunteers should prepare to share environmental issues from their countries and be ready to spend time outdoors, walking medium to long distances during the cleanups, and during other activities such as sightseeing. Since a part of the project happens outdoors, volunteers should be ready to adapt and be flexible with the work and free-time schedule. Depending on the weather, we may not be able to perform some of the activities as planned.

ACCOMMODATION: SEEDS volunteers stay in a house in ReykjavEk. The facilities are basic with an equipped kitchen, dining and living room, bathrooms, showers and a washing machine. Everyone is expected to show consideration for their companions. Accommodation is in shared rooms, with up to 6 people per room. Please bring your own towel. Volunteers will receive food supplies and will be in charge of cooking and cleaning. Please note the food SEEDS provides will be vegetarian. Do not forget to bring some traditional/typical food, drinks, recipes, music, games or movies from your country for the intercultural evening. Please be aware some items or ingredients may be expensive in Iceland and you will need to buy them yourselves or bring them from your country.

Participants will have time to put the theory about photography into practice, exploring the city. At the end of the camp, the best photographs from each participant will be selected for an online exhibition on SEEDS social media. Participants should bring their own digital cameras, lenses, tripods, and laptops, if possible. While learning about photography, the participants have the opportunity to explore Icelandic culture through active participation: capturing it, engaging with it, and showcasing their work throughout the camp. One of our goals is to empower young people to use photography to highlight environmental and cultural subjects and issues.Participants should be ready to spend time outdoors walking medium distances during activities and working within a flexible schedule. Participants will be photographing in their free time outside of workshop hours with images to be discussed at group feedback sessions.This camp is open to participants aged 16 to 20. During their stay, SEEDS organises a programme that combines learning, sharing, getting to know Iceland and its culture, and having fun while exploring the city and some of the most stunning natural attractions in the Golden Circle and Reykjanes Peninsula excursions. Note that this is a learning/sharing camp and not a regular workcamp; this project has a smaller volunteer work part and emphasises the personal learning process over the community impact. We may be able to organise some outdoor voluntary work, but it depends on our partners and the weather conditions.

Throughout the year, participants from all over the world come to Iceland for an immersive photography-focused learning camp. This camp allows volunteers to learn about global and local environmental issues through non-formal activities such as workshops, discussions, presentations and visits, as well as to contribute directly to environment protection by joining outdoor cleanup tasks. These cleanup tasks may be arranged in partnership with the above mentioned organisations or run solely by SEEDS. We also aim to involve the local community, so some of our events may be open to the public. We hope participants will learn how to plan and carry out their own trash cleaning projects back at home. This project is based on similar activities around the world, where outstanding results have been achieved with volunteers. Volunteers can choose one of the two options below, included as hands-on volunteering activity in the camp:1. A day trip combining a visit to the HellisheiE(i geothermal power plant, a trash collection in the area, and the Hot River Hike, a hike up a valley filled with hot springs where one can bathe. 2. A day trip to the Reykjanes Peninsula, combined with a coastal cleanup in the area.Please note that all activities are subject to weather conditions and the availability of our partners.This camp combines learning, sharing, hands-on work and fun. No previous experience is needed. Volunteers should prepare to share environmental issues from their countries and be ready to spend time outdoors, walking medium to long distances during the cleanups, and during other activities such as sightseeing. Since a part of the project happens outdoors, volunteers should be ready to adapt and be flexible with the work and free-time schedule. Depending on the weather, we may not be able to perform some of the activities as planned.

PROJECT: The Environmental Awareness and amp; Action project is part of a series of camps organised by SEEDS in cooperation with different partners. SEEDS collaborates with the Icelandic Ministry for Environment and Natural Resources, the City of ReykjavEk, and several local stakeholders on a project to clean up the Icelandic coastline. Partners include the Blue Army, an organisation dedicated to the cause of coastal cleaning, SORPA, the waste collection and amp; management entity in the capital area, and Whales of Iceland, an exhibit showcasing life-size models of whales and porpoises to educate the public about their lives and the impact of human activity on their existence.

LOCATION: The accommodation is located an hour drive south-east from ReykjavEk. The house serves as an environmental-educational centre and sits under IngElfsfjall, The Mountain of IngElfur, with a view of EyjafjallajEkull where the volcanic eruptions began in March and April 2010. The place is registered as natural Icelandic heritage; the nature, vegetation and birdlife is rich in variety and quantity. The volunteers can enjoy outdoor activities in a peaceful and beautiful location with a small stream and a pond nearby. Hiking trails with maps about cultural heritage can be found throughout the area, which is a popular attraction among both foreign and local visitors. The nearest town, Selfoss, only 10 minutes-drive away, with 6500 inhabitants, is a centre of commerce and small industries where you find a geothermal swimming pool, shops, museums, cafEs and bars.

Volunteers will have a chance to understand the civil sector in Hungary and the social reality of people living in poverty, not only as spectators but as active participants working towards social change. The program will consist of team-building activities, creative and multicultural workshops delivered to and by the volunteers with local young people, interactive programs to get to know the area together and some renovation work on a community house. Campfire, common music and board games are indispensable to the program.

This project is co-organized with "Sugiura Farm" that engages in organic farming for pursuing food safety and an environmental-friendly society. The owner of this farm is Mr. Sugiura, who was the only a man taking care of 2 hectares of farmland abandoned by local people until 2022. The local farmers became too old to keep working on the farm. Mr. Sugiura cultivates, harvests crops, even makes fertilizer and processes the harvest into products. He is working not only for crops, but also for conserving the environment and the beautiful scenery of living fields in the countryside of Japan.
