Project Needs: The Miao are one of the 56 official ethnic groups in China and are known for their handmade unique silver ornaments, which they wear to ward off evil or for attracting good fortune. With over 400 years of history and was listed as a Chinese national intangible cultural heritage in 2006, the traditional craftsmanship of Miao silver is the living expressions of creativity, skills, and knowledge passed down through generations. The silver handicrafts are not merely object or artifacts, but they reflect the cultural values, belief, way of life, history and the diverse identities of the Miao ethnic group. However, due to industrial production of silver handicraft in the market, a decrease in the market demand for traditional Miao silver, as well as a growing number of young Miao people moving to the cities to pursue higher incomes, the inheritance of Miao silver craftsmanship is encountering difficulties. Kongbai village is a famous silversmith village in Leishan County, with many villagers knowing how to forge silver jewelry, but ironically, not many of them actually stay in the village. Furthermore, despite the artistic appearance of the Miao silver, the complex design and techniques are becoming less suitable to modern lifestyle and hard to compete with the fast-paced commercial industries. It is important to preserve the craftmanship since the handicraft not only serve as cultural identity for the Miao, but also have education value in teaching the younger generations about history, culture, and traditional skills. The handcrafts also have significant economic potential in sustainable cultural tourism and can act as a bridge in cultural exchanges, fostering understanding and appreciation between different culture. Project Aims: ? Promote, preserve, and sustain Miao silver craftsmanship: It is important to ensure the skills and technique of silver filigree, as well as the history of the craftsmanship can be passed down to the next generation by documenting and researching the techniques, stories, and cultural significance of the craft. ? Aid in the sustainable development of rural village through cultural tourism empowerment: Cultural tours/workshops with Chinese and English guides/handbook will be designed and created by participants to help the transmission of Miao culture and silver filigree skills, allowing locals to better share with future visitors. ? Encourage the international exchange of ideas/stories/history/etc from different countries to generate new innovative silver designs that are practical and adaptive Work/Activities: ? In-depth hands-on learning and practice of filigree silver crafts ? Technique Learning: Under the guidance of the local experienced teacher, participants will learn the core skills of silver smelting, wire drawing, filigree, wielding, etc. and make a traditional Miao silver jewelry (ex. earring). Participants will help record, take pictures, and document the whole production process so that the craft will be able to be past to future generations. ? Innovative design: After learning the techniques of filigree silver, participants? creativity are pull together to create 3 new jewelry designs that will incorporate both traditional Miao totem elements, as well as modern international concepts. The new designs will be shared and discussed with the local villagers and may be used for charity sale, promoting local cultural heritage and/or supporting sustainable village development. ? Development of Chinese and English cultural tour guides in promoting the silver craft and the local village culture/history. Participants will assist by: ? Researching village handicrafts, folklore, history, and natural/scenic landscapes ? Planning/designing one-day or half-day cultural/eco-tour routes of the village ? Production of the tour guides ? Writing Chinese and English descriptions/introductions of scenic spots, folklores, silver handicrafts of the village ? Taking pictures or drawing illustrations to help promote the village culture/history/handicraft ? Cultural exchange with local villagers and other participants ? Cultural Night will be organized to share with local villagers and participants about the different country?s culture (language, music, food, handicraft, etc) ? Create and share videos of the village and on silver pedigree on social media to share with the world and to increase public awareness about their importance.

Leishan is a county in the east of Guizhou province, China. It is under the administration of the Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture. Xiuli Tao Intangible Cultural Heritage Market: For those interested in handicrafts, this market consist of local Miao embroidery, batik, silver jewelry, and all kinds of local handicrafts.

Meals will be prepared by the local villagers based on the local seasonal vegetables available. Two participants per room with basic bedding available. Sleeping bags are not needed. 2 Participants should bring their own basic toiletries, in-door slipper, towels, etc. WIFI signal may be weak in the village.

Reykjavik is spread across a peninsula with a panoramic view of the mountains and the Atlantic. It is an international city with a lively cosmopolitan cultural scene surrounded by beautiful nature.Some excursions (e.g. to the Golden Circle, Hot River hike and/or South Shore) can be arranged at discount fares if there is free time after the camp workshops/sessions.

SEEDS participants will stay in a house in Reykjavik. The facilities are basic with an equipped kitchen, dining and living room, bathrooms, showers and a washing machine. As participants sleep in shared rooms with up to 6 people, everyone is expected to behave considerately. Please bring your own towel. Participants will receive food supplies and be in charge of the cooking and cleaning activities. Note the food SEEDS provides will be vegetarian. Do not forget to bring some traditional/typical food, drinks, recipes, music or games from your country for the intercultural evening. This camp is a great opportunity to learn and experience Indian culture and understand the diversity and unity it stands for. You shall be participating in our ongoing humanitarian actions like Non formal education, women empowerment initiatives, environment conservation, waste upcycling, organic farming etc and interacting with local people on daily basis leading to the festival. With this project we aim to encourage cross cultural exchanges and provide a deeper insight of our culture. Months of October and November host two prominent Indian festivals of national importance. The dates are decided on yearly basis as per Hindu calendar. These camps are specially organized for those who are interested in Indian history and culture. This period is also supposed to be auspicious for marriages. Besides local festivals, volunteers will have an opportunity to learn of Hindu traditions.

Baddi is a fast growing largest industrial hub in Solan district of Himachal Pradesh. It is 30 km north of Chandigarh city and 100 kms from Shimla town. Baddi offers a number of treks to tourists and a good majestic view of Kasauli range of mountains. The economy of the area depends on agriculture and industries. The volunteers will have opportunity to visit Hanuman Temple in Shimla, the Naldehra Golf Club and a local zoo or the Rock Garden in Chandigarh.

Volunteers will stay at RUCHI campus on twin/triple sharing basis. Bed and beddings are provided. Simple basic amenities will be available; bringing personal sleeping bag is desirable. Asian squat type toilet & English WC with hot and cold showers are available. Our cook will serve authentic Indian vegetarian meals.

Interest in experiencing other cultures and participate with local communities in local/national festivals.

This project is actively working for SDGs 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), newly organized with the local Film Festival Committee. Since 2020, Mr. Joya, a local resident, has been organizing the film festival with the goal of revitalizing the region. There is a large rock (standing 100 meters high and 500 meters wide) in the town, and this film festival is a unique event where movies are projected onto the rock. The festival creates events that can only take place in this town, highlighting the people, nature, and culture of the area. This year marks the first international workcamp held.

Participants will spend a night in Yeosu with all participants, exploring the city before heading to Geomun Island. There, they will collaborate with professional artists to create artwork using marine debris, household waste, and natural materials which are collected by participants in the island. They will also take part in producing artworks that benefit the local community such as painting and artcrafts. In addition to these creative activities, participants will have time to enjoy Geomun Island?s stunning beaches and beautiful ocean. Participants will also have the opportunity to share their diverse cultures with local elementary and middle school students through food, games, art, clothing, photography, and more. This cultural exchange will allow both participants and students to experience the joy of diversity and gain valuable insights from different traditions and perspectives. This experience is perfect for anyone curious about life beyond the city, where the vast sea meets a vibrant island community. It is also an ideal opportunity for those who wish to contribute to local development and foster collaboration within the community.

Geomun Island is a beautiful island located about 1 hour and 30 minutes by high-speed ferry from Yeosu, which is known for having one of the most picturesque harbors in South Korea. While it may seem like a remote island from the mainland, from the perspective of the sea, it holds a strategic position as a gateway to Korea. Because of this, Geomun Island has historical significance?most notably, it was occupied by British forces from 1885 to 1887. Despite being separated from the mainland, the island has developed its own unique culture over time. Today, it is home to about 300 residents who enjoy a peaceful and happy life. Volunteers come to this island to contribute to the well-being of the community and help enhance the happiness of its residents even further.

Volunteers will stay and work in Maki for some days and Tateya in other days. The work will be mainly helping organic agriculture (cutting thatch, harvesting/ threshing rice, selecting beans, taking care of goats, cows and chicken) and also carrying the things from the town to Maki, renovating the trails on the way, helping the house works especially cooking, etc. Be ready to work for quite a long time (05:30-18:00 with some brakes) and hard!

Both are located in the beautiful places near “Japanese Northern Alps”. Maki is in about 900 meters asl. and there is something remained here that most of Japanese areas have lost in modernization. Tateya is surrounded by the farms and 40 min. walk from the train station. Other activities - Exchange program, Excursion on a free day (possibly to Hakuba, a famous tourism spot), etc.

Maki: Volunteers will sleep in a few rooms of the volunteers' house that is a very beautiful cultural heritage and equips the basic facilities such as water, electricity, toilets and a bath room! They will have meals, meetings and social life with Kyodo Gakusha members in the main building (just 30 meters far). Meals will be cooked by together with the members by turns. Sleeping bag is not necessary. Tateya: Building for volunteers and a few members, 5 min. walk from the farm. Meals will be usually cooked by volunteers by turns. Sleeping bag is not necessary.

Volunteers need to have high motivation and patience to keep the hard, long and important work in the very isolated, natural place and to respect the way of the local host. No special skills nor experiences are needed. Motivation letter is needed! Language - English (Japanese is also welcomed!)

This project is actively working for SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDGs 10 (Reduced Inequalities), organized together with Kyodo Gakusha since 2000, a cooperative community where people with various backgrounds such as mentally disadvantaged, people who are tired of city life, who want to learn farming, who want to live in the nature, etc. They have 5 communities in Japan incl. Maki and Tateya and grow animals and vegetables in ecological, organic way. Maki is located in a very isolated area (not accessible for cars and we have to walk 4 km in the mountains!), so it once became an abandon village in 1970s and then, was revived by Kyodo Gakusha. Over 10 people were living till several years ago, but less and less in these years (almost nobody in the winter), so vols. are needed even more! Tateya is located on the hilly (less than Maki, but still a bit isolated) area where 30-40 members live and mainly do rice farming as well as growing cows and chicken. *Outcome of this workcamp: In 2024, we had 6 vols. from 6 countries who greatly contributed to the organic farming! Based on the time of the year the volunteers will be working during the day or at night in the months of August and September from 20:00 to 08:00. Depending on the number of turtles that come ashore, two teams might be formed among the volunteers. In this way, each group will be taking turns, working one night, and taking the next night off for recovery. In addition, the weekends are also spared for resting. Some of the activities to be performed are: 1. Finding adult turtles and collecting their eggs. 2. Moving the eggs to a protected place called Vivero. 3. Releasing newborn baby turtles into the sea. 4. Patrolling the beaches at night. 5. Making some reconstruction in the most important turtle camps of the region. Please consider that the schedule is subject to change depending on the weather conditions and the condition of the sea turtles and it is possible to work with crocodiles in case there is no work with turtles, this can happen mostly in the months of January and February. The coordinator or the camp leader will be informing you regarding your work schedule.

Rincon de Guayabitos, also known as Guayabitos, is a beach town located in the astonishing Sierra Madre Occidental, in the state of Nayarit and bathed by the waters of the Pacific Ocean. It is a popular tourist destination due to its proximity to the cities of Tepic, Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta. Riviera Nayarit is emerging as one of the most attractive and magic destinations of Mexico. The area extends approximately 300 kilometers along the coast, integrated by mountainous jungle and facing coastal islands. For those seeking a more rural and rustic experience with magic beach towns in Mexico, the Riviera has a massive open space for everyone along the Nayarit coast, also, for those who want to relax there are also quiet beaches and there are other beaches with heavy waves for surfers.

Vive Mexico has been organizing this workcamp regularly in Rincon de Guayabitos, Nayarit since 2014. The main achievement of the project is to protect the sea turtles with the help of volunteers who will be cooperating with a team of biologists. Up to now, the project has been quite successful and has reached extraordinary results. Participating in sea turtle conservation is a great opportunity to discover the rather charming life of sea turtles.

Mineral water available at supermarkets is also recommended. • The Government policy to install ICT in primary schools has seen connectivity to the national power grid for most educational institutions in Kenya and this makes it easy for volunteers to use electric appliances while at the project. • Furthermore, we invite you to bring typical food, spices, drinks, games and music from your country (for an intercultural evening) – and a lot of motivation!

• KITO International is a non-profit social enterprise dedicated to getting youth off the streets and out of poverty. Inspired and founded by a former street boy, KITO combats poverty by providing economic opportunities. We are based in Nairobi and Siaya in Kenya. • KITO trains youth in entrepreneurship, financial literacy, employability skills, and life skills. After 2 months of intensive training, KITO youth are temporarily employed with KITO’s social enterprise, EcoSafi, in order to gain hands-on experience in a formal employment setting. • KITO staff and supporters also seek opportunities to link KITO youth to mentorships, internship, or apprenticeships in and around the community in order to expand the youth’s knowledge and confidence in order to set them on the path towards self-sufficiency. • KITO is dedicated to the success of each and every youth that walks through its doors and customizes each youth’s exit strategy to ensure their continued success and growth. Previous KITO graduates have continued their education, secured full-time employment, and started their own business.

The Märkische Schweiz Nature Park, 40 km east of Berlin, offers a unique natural and cultural landscape as well as an area for our project in and around the ‘Drei Eichen’ environmental education centre. By cooperating with the nature park administration, we will not only get to know the nature park and its surroundings, but also actively help to shape it. We are offering this work camp because it is fun to have young people from all over the world with us and because we simply need a lot of hands for some of the work! People and pets live on the grounds of the Drei Eichen environmental education centre - and there are almost always lots of guests: children, families, seminar groups. For activities in between, Drei Eichen and its grounds offer many opportunities to learn about plants and animals, nature conservation and alternative ways of life and to actively participate. These include the tipi village and the wilderness education centre, the Zeidlerei station and a pottery workshop. Excursions or courses can be organised here by prior arrangement. On some days you will ‘give something back to Drei Eichen’ by working on the farm - because sometimes we need many hands: e.g. for wood protection coating on the playground, repair work, building nesting boxes or replanting. We decide at short notice and depending on the weather. At various locations in the Märkische Schweiz Nature Park, we will spend a few days helping to carry out various landscape conservation work in different natural areas. Autumn is the time when trees and shrubs are pruned, but also when planting takes place and bulbs are put in the ground. We are happy to help here! We also want to tackle invasive species. There are many lakes and beautiful scenic areas that invite you to explore and relax after work! In autumn, there are also large migrations of cranes and geese, which rest and feed in large numbers on the nearby lakes. It would be possible to organise an excursion with an expert. All work, whether in landscape conservation, crafts or creative design, takes place outdoors. We plan together on site, depending on the current weather conditions, on which days we do which work and which days we take off.

For activities in between, Drei Eichen with its terrain offers many opportunities to learn about plants and animals, nature conservation and alternative ways of life and to actively participate. There are many great options for spending your free time. Among them are GPS tour(s) in the nature park, guided hikes on biodiversity, a visit to the bat museum, trips to surrounding lakes, going to the movies, visiting the pub "lokal." in Buckow, making a campfire; going to an artificial climbing forest or doing a canoe tour in the area. Those who long for more urban hustle and bustle on the weekend can also take a day trip to Berlin or even go to Poland, which is not that far away. We plan together on site, depending on the current weather conditions, among other things, on which days we do what work and on which days we take off.

You will stay at the Drei Eichen environmental education centre, located in the middle of the forest, 4km from Buckow (www.dreichen.de). As a group, you will have a flat with kitchen, bathroom, toilet, lounge-kitchen, large balcony and 3 simple multi-bed rooms. You cook together. Money for shopping will be provided. Vegetarian or vegan meals are possible. Please indicate any intolerances when registering.

It helps if you have an interest in physical work and some strength. Please bring weatherproof and warm work clothes/long sleeves and pants, the work takes place outdoors. Shoes that can withstand water are good - outdoor boots or similar.

Depending on the number of turtles that come ashore, two teams might be formed among the volunteers. In this way, each group will be taking turns, working one night, and taking the next night off for recovery. In addition, the weekends are also spared for resting. Some of the activities to be performed are: 1. Finding adult turtles and collecting their eggs. 2. Moving the eggs to a protected place called Vivero. 3. Releasing newborn baby turtles into the sea. 4. Patrolling the beaches at night. 5. Making some reconstruction in the most important turtle camps of the region. Please consider that the schedule is subject to change depending on the weather conditions and the condition of the sea turtles and it is possible to work with crocodiles in case there is no work with turtles, this can happen mostly in the months of January and February. The coordinator or the camp leader will be informing you regarding your work schedule.

Rincon de Guayabitos, also known as Guayabitos, is a beach town located in the astonishing Sierra Madre Occidental, in the state of Nayarit and bathed by the waters of the Pacific Ocean. It is a popular tourist destination due to its proximity to the cities of Tepic, Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta. Riviera Nayarit is emerging as one of the most attractive and magic destinations of Mexico. The area extends approximately 300 kilometers along the coast, integrated by mountainous jungle and facing coastal islands. For those seeking a more rural and rustic experience with magic beach towns in Mexico, the Riviera has a massive open space for everyone along the Nayarit coast, also, for those who want to relax there are also quiet beaches and there are other beaches with heavy waves for surfers.

Vive Mexico has been organizing this workcamp regularly in Rincon de Guayabitos, Nayarit since 2014. The main achievement of the project is to protect the sea turtles with the help of volunteers who will be cooperating with a team of biologists. Up to now, the project has been quite successful and has reached extraordinary results. Participating in sea turtle conservation is a great opportunity to discover the rather charming life of sea turtles.

Working closely with local communities we have mobilized women self help groups in villages. Through these groups we have nurtured and supported women entrepreneurship initiatives to economically support their families and spread awareness within villages. We also work with teenage girls in public schools where we assist in development of their soft skills and critical health issues. As volunteer you will have an opportunity to exchange ideas, better understand the role a typical woman has in our society and join in their social & economic upliftment. Volunteers are expected to be creative and skillful so they can implement need based workshop for girls about adolescence education, personality development, career counseling etc. They will also be attending meetings of Self-help Groups (SHGs) and interact with women to better understand their plight and assist them to be recognised as economically independent. Additional activities will include learning of various developmental issues and solutions. They will visit various humanitarian projects and interact with the villagers.

Ruchi campus which is located near Bandh village. It is 30 km from Kalka town and 60 km from Chandigarh city. The area offers a unique opportunity to live with nature in a peaceful environment. Self organized city tours and excursions. Old Sikh and Hindu temples in the near vicinity can be visited. Nearby Kasauli town, a hill station, is a major tourist attraction. A visit to Shimla, the state capital, will offer an opportunity to see high Himalayan Mountains and British architecture.

Volunteers will stay at RUCHI campus on twin/triple sharing basis. Bed and beddings are provided. Simple basic amenities will be available; bringing personal sleeping bag is desirable. Asian squat type toilet & English WC with hot and cold showers are available. Our cook will serve authentic Indian vegetarian meals.

Creative teaching English – Creative teaching is important to recognize; teaching certificate does not need for specific quality of the volunteer, but creative is the one of yours. Volunteer will be divided to work in rural school as English teachers, preparing lessons with the teacher at the school (do not expect this point too much even the teachers are also shy to speak out). Creative teaching English, Non-formal education tools can be used for creative teaching; volunteer is not required teaching certificate but requiring to be creative. Aims of creative teaching is giving the chance for students in the school and local community to have an opportunity to communicate with different language and learn difference culture. Volunteer will stay at Volunteer house with the local in Thai style Nature environment, basic and simple. Mattress, pillow, Mosquito net and fan are provided. Thai toilet and shower. No food and drink except drinking water in the accommodation area for your care because some animals such as mouse, ants will come to share your food. There is no wifi in the accommodation, recommended to buy Thai sim card (AIS or True, links are on the first page) Volunteer expects to eat Thai food and can help your host family to cook to learn Thai cooking. The main goal of this project is fostering intercultural exchange and language learning. Volunteers share and exchange culture, language, and knowledge with the local community and school students. English, as a global language, plays a vital role in preparing local Thai people to become global citizens. It opens doors to new knowledge and perspectives. Since its inception by VSA Thailand in 2011, the project has successfully empowered children and local communities to improve their English skills and gain confidence in interacting with international volunteers. This cultural exchange has also strengthened relationships between locals and foreigners, encouraging mutual understanding and adaptation to diverse ways of life. Songkhla, as a VSA base, has many schools eager to host international volunteers, primarily in rural areas, for meaningful teaching and cultural exchange during the volunteers’ stay.

Volunteers are the key person to make the students, teachers and Local community speak using English in daily life. They learn English in the class but only in reading and writing (grammarly) but very lacking in speaking with Each other due to the culture barrier. When there are international volunteers, the environment in the school and community force to use English and they also couple exchange with volunteers. Workplaces There will be 2 schools which are Ban Krogluek School and Ban Maab Grad School. The local host may schedule Monday-Wednesday work in one school and Thursday and Friday work in another school. You will meet different classes each day. So the activities you prepare can be used similarly in both school and each class.

Intercultural and Language (ICL) – Nakhon Ratchasima, learning and sharing the intercultural and language still are the main purpose. Volunteers will share and exchange culture, language, and knowledge with the local community and students in the school. English as the global language and intercultural learning are important for local Thai people to understand and be for global citizens. English is also the gateway to open mind and knowledge. The project was created by VSA Thailand and has been successful for eight years. Former volunteers came to give the opportunity for children in schools and the local community. Many local people improved their English skills through exchanging with international volunteers, or at least they try to speak the English language more and dare to face and work with the foreigner even though they cannot speak English. Moreover, volunteers’ activities impacted the local community. They used to stay lively and trusty with the foreigner. Local people have a chance to learn, accept, and adopt the ways of life with the different cultures. Ban Krogluek School is a primary school, there are about 10 teachers and 100 students from kindergarten (2-6 years old), pratomsuksa 1-6 (7-12 years old). During this camp, participants can share their passion for (and learn more about) global and amp; local environmental issues, as well as photography. If you are interested in topics such as climate change, waste management and sustainability, and you also love taking photos, then this project is for youWhile developing artistic and technical photography skills, you will be focusing on environmental and sustainability issues through non-formal activities such as workshops, discussions, presentations and visits facilitated by SEEDS. One of our aims is to help create more environmentally aware consumers and amp; travellersYou will visit local projects on environment and conservation. These may include hands-on activities or guided visits, such as outdoor cleanup tasks, a local fauna and/or flora exhibition or an Icelandic culture museum. Some of these activities are dependent on weather conditions, as on the availability of our partners.You will also have time to put the theory about photography into practice while exploring the city. At the end of the camp, the best photographs from each participant are selected for an online exhibition on SEEDS social media. Participants should bring their own digital cameras, lenses, tripods and laptops if possible.

ReykjavEk is a dynamic, modern city that lives in harmony with nature, using renewable energy sources. The worlds northernmost capital bridges the Atlantic, between Europe and North America. ReykjavEk is spread across a peninsula with a panoramic view of the mountains and the Atlantic. It is an international city with a lively cosmopolitan cultural scene surrounded by beautiful nature.Some excursions (e.g. to the Golden Circle, Hot River hike and/or South Shore) can be arranged at discount fares if there is free time after the camp workshops/sessions.It may be very cold and/or rainy, so we recommend bringing warm and waterproof clothes (underlayers, overcoats, scarves, gloves and hats) and good walking shs, as some of the activities take place outdoors.

SEEDS participants will stay in a house in ReykjavEk. The facilities are basic with an equipped kitchen, dining and living room, bathrooms, showers and a washing machine. As participants sleep in shared rooms with up to 6 people, everyone is expected to behave considerately. Please bring your own towel. Participants will receive food supplies and be in charge of the cooking and cleaning activities. Note the food SEEDS provides will be vegetarian. Do not forget to bring some traditional/typical food, drinks, recipes, music or games from your country for the intercultural evening. Be aware some items or ingredients may be expensive in Iceland and you will need to buy them yourselves or bring them from your country.

The SEEDS programme combines learning, sharing, hands-on activities, getting to know Iceland, its culture, having fun, exploring the city, its attractions and the stunning nature, which you can experience in possible excursions. Note this project is a learning/sharing camp and not a standard workcamp. Northern lights are a natural phenomenon depending on solar activity and meteorological conditions, so we cannot guarantee you will see northern lights, but the night photography workshop will be organised anyway.

Volunteers will mainly trim the bamboo trees that can increase the whole amount to fix carbon in the forest and make the bamboo charcoal to be used as fuel instead of oil as carbon offset project. Other work will be helping to run the marine environmental education for the local middle school students as well as helping the traditional cultural workshop a bit such as making a paper from natural materials and weaving also as your experience.

This project is actively working for SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDGs 15 (Life on Land), organized together with NAP (Nobel Application of Plant resources) since 1992 and since 2016, as a part of SCC (Stop Climate Change) projects initiated by NICE with NVDA (Asian network). NAP is a local NPO to recover natural ecosystem cycles. Minamata had experienced the terrible industrial pollution though it is completely safe and clean now. As well as many other parts of Japan, bamboo trees, originally brought from China by human being, are severely spreading and damaging the eco-system. Also, the beaches have a lot of rubbish, but when it’s clean, there is a lot of sea food such as oysters and sea urchins. Rehabilitation of seaweed forests has been done since several years ago. The workcamp has been stopped due to COVID-19, but finally revived since 2020 by this project! *Outcome of this workcamp: Workcamps have made various kinds of great impacts to create a forest on the reclaimed land, etc. In 2019, 4 LMTVs from 4 countries and 6 STVs from 5 countries, together with local people, maintained 1ha of bamboo forest, made 541 kg of charcoal and reduced 1.1 ton of CO2 emission. In 2024, 8 vols. from 6 countries and 9 NGO leaders from 4 Asian countries joined us! itpurphedi is a community in Tarakeshwor Municipality, located 10-15 km from Kathmandu s main ring road, surrounded by hills, fields, and woods. You can go sightseeing at various sites around the community. VIN also organizes weekend travel tours to Chitwan Jungle Safari, Pokhara, and Nagarkot at an additional cost if you are interested.

The volunteers will stay with the host family/hostel identified by VIN. The living facilities are simple and basic. Male and female volunteers will share the same living area with separate rooms. The volunteers sleep on single beds/mattresses. Please bring your sleeping bag.
