Xiushan Community is located in the center of Taichung, near the foothills across the mountain and overlooking the Taiwan Strait. Sixty percent of its residents engage in agriculture, planting wheat, rice, red barley, and other grains. The presence of the Precision Science Park six years ago encouraged the community to seek the return of its young population. However, the majority of the elderly lack vitality and creativity, which contributes to a lack of motivation to create a vibrant community. The community hopes that international volunteers will encourage residents to engage in community affairs and introduce diverse cultural experiences.Aims:1.Encourage international volunteers to create their own lion head and painting, which is a significant part of the community s folk culture. By producing traditional lion head and painting, Xiushan hopes to become a hub for folk arts and crafts outside of the village.2.Partner with the Community Service Center for the Elderly to lead weekly health promotion activities for the elderly, led by international volunteers. A diverse portfolio of different tasks are waiting for you in Mücke:
Maintenance work in the forest, such as trail maintenance, forest thinning, invasive species management as well as biotope maintenance in species and nature conservation. That might involve wetland restoration and habitat conservation.
You will not only work in the surrounding forests and wetland biotopes, but also in the villages, where you will help with renovation of playgrounds, a village square and the historic railway station in Mücke.

You will stay on a local farm. There are three individual accommodations (a tiny house and an artists and a family residence), each for 3 to 5 people and individual bathrooms plus a group room with enough space for retreat and community. The special thing about the accommodation is that you can try out a communal neighborhood concept here with enough space for retreat and community. All accommodation is fully equipped and comfortably furnished. Wi-Fi is available. The group room can be heated with a fireplace and has an idyllic view of the garden.
Further important information: Young, creative and open-minded people with children and three dogs live on the farm!

For the first time the municipality of Mücke is inviting international volunteers to support them in a range of different tasks. Mücke consists of 12 different small villages ranging in size from 163 to 2600 inhabitants.
The camp will support the community in two different areas. In the environmental field you will undertake different tasks to maintain the local forest as well biotopes that are crucial habitats for endangered species and are considered nature conservation areas. In the field of local infrastructure and cultural heritage you will support the community in designing / renovating a playground, a village square and help with the renovation of the historic Mücke railway station.

Participants will sleep in a shared sports complex in Estarreja with beds, separated by gender. The complex has a sports locker room with hot water showers also separated by gender. Lunches and dinners are prepared/cooked by the municipalitys staff and served in a canteen, but some lunches will be served in the field (sandwiches, fruit, etc.). Vegetarian/vegan meals are an option.

This camp will take place in Baixo Vouga Lagunar, in two areas of the Estarreja municipality, both of high ecological and social value. BioRia is a network of nature trails, a paradise for birdwatching, integrated in a Natura 2000 site. In Canelas, the LUSITANICA project has been running since 2016, aiming to convert a degraded area into a model forest for nature conservation and fire prevention, as well as to rebuild heritage buildings: an abandoned water mill and a historic fountain ( Fonte dos Namoricos ) which is very degraded. It is an area much cherished by the population, but it requires a major intervention to return to being the social dynamic pole it was in the past. This project integrates environmental and social interventions promoting sustainability as a whole.

Needless to say, in order for the Festival to be a life-enhancing and indeed for some a life-transforming experience, much hard work is required. From the day we arrive in an empty field with a small vanguard, our numbers gradually swell until we have around eight hundred volunteers welcoming the three thousand visitors. The set-up crew erect the structures that will act as kitchens and venues. They establish the infrastructure such as plumbing, compost toilets, showers and saunas. They make the site beautiful and safe with flags, bunting, paths, fences and lighting. Then during the Festival we have stewards to welcome and guide festival goers, to manage parking and traffic and to attend to people's well-being. Toilet wizards maintain the compost toilets. A team of recyclers sorts materials so as to minimize landfill. The kitchen crew feed volunteers and festival goers alike. The site crew look after the infrastructure, tents, water etc. During the set-up phase, volunteers will get one day off and during the festival two days either as full days or half days, depending on the needs of the particular teams.
VAP volunteers will be invited to work in one of a number of areas before and during the festival, for example: the Healing area, the Buddhafield cafe, site crew, recycling and ‘toilet wizards’, décor, welcome and departure teams.
During the Festival the volunteers will have work shifts, but will also have time to enjoy the huge variety of events taking place and facilities available as outlined above. Volunteers are asked to attend daily morning meetings, the exact time depending on what area of work they choose to join. The work is very team-based. The whole enterprise runs on goodwill, awareness of each others’ needs, good communication and mutual support. During set-up and take-down there will be organised events around Buddhist themes, attendance at which is completely voluntary. There are generally also alternatives such as spontaneous musical gatherings, often around a fire. They will also have someone on site who is their direct contact for support and pastoral care. They will meet as a group together each day.

TRAVEL TO BUDDHAFIELD:
The Festival site is in remote countryside, with only two buses per day going near the site.
A member of the Buddhafield team will meet people at the Taunton train station and help them get to the site. If you want to travel with a team member it is important that you arrive at Taunton train station not later than 16:45 on July 9th, where we will meet you at the upper exit by platform 2!

The nearest station is Taunton. Journeys take about 2 hours from London or Birmingham, 1 hour from Bristol and 30 minutes from Exeter.

Coach (Bus):
Taunton is about 4 hours from London and 1 hour from Bristol. National Express run regular services to Taunton. See www.nationalexpress.com. If you come by coach you will need to allow 15 minutes to walk to the train station exit by platform 2.

Local transport:
Once in Taunton, there are two buses per day which can drop you within 10 minutes walk of the Festival site. The bus stops are about 15 minutes walk from Taunton station and five minutes from the coach station.

Departure:
The leaving day for International Volunteers will be Thursday 25th July. If you could try and arrange your travel from Taunton after 11am that would enable us to take you to the bus or train station.

Volunteers should bring their own tents, sleeping bag, sleeping mat and everything you would need for a camping trip. Weather can be range from very hot in the sun to very cold at night, so please bring plenty of blankets as well as sun cream, warm-weather clothes and proper waterproof jackets and trousers. Showers and toilet facilities are outdoors and though cleaner and better cared for than other festivals, they are outdoors and basic.
Buddhafield will provide 100% vegan food and hot drinks and snacks are available throughout the day. If you need animal products, you will have to bring with you a supply of food that does not need refrigeration.

BACKGROUND:
Buddhafield (www.buddhafield.com) is an English Buddhist collective that is part of the international Buddhist movement, the Triratna Buddhist Community (http://thebuddhistcentre.com). Buddhafield emerged out of the coming together of Buddhism and ecological awareness in the 1990s. Buddhafield is inspired by the ideal of living and working more simply and kindly in a community informed by awareness of our interconnections with each other and with nature. We run a programme of camping activities in the South West of England and own two beautiful pieces of land, which we are committed to managing sustainably and which we use for several events each year (not the Festival itself). We are perhaps best known for organising the much-loved Buddhafield Festival, now in its 22nd year, and for the Buddhafield Café, which provides vegan food at festivals like the Glastonbury Festival.

THE FESTIVAL:
The Buddhafield Festival is held over five days, on a beautiful site in the Blackdown Hills, in Somerset, England. The event brings together around three thousand people for a sharing and celebration of alternative social, cultural, political and spiritual values. The mix of activities around Buddhist, environmental, healing and social change themes together with general festival attractions such as singing, dance, yoga, drumming, live music, comedy, craftwork, chai cafes, saunas, hot tubs and a huge range of activities for children, attracts a wide range of festival goers. The feedback we get is that for many the event is a reminder that a more positive and kind alternative to conventional competitive and environmentally damaging ways of living is possible. In keeping with the Festival's Buddhist ethos the event is a drug and alcohol-free zone.

Take part in embellishing the media library’s courtyard of Bullion, a charming village located in the High Valley of Chevreuse natural regional park.
Bullion inhabitants frequently visit the media library, which makes it an important place for them.
As part of this first project organised in this dynamic village, you will be landscaping the library's courtyard: the work will involve creating furniture from recycled materials and vegetating the main wall to make the courtyard a lively, friendly place. You will also get the chance to take civic and creative walks in Rambouillet forest.

Bullion is located in the Yvelines department, 50km away from Paris. It is full of natural resources and only 30 minutes away from the Rambouillet forest. There are plenty of walking and biking trails for you to enjoy the natural, regional treasures.

You will be sleeping in 2 mixed shared rooms in the local gym with access to showers and toilets. Please note to bring your own sleeping bag. You will dispose of a municipal hall to gather and live together, which will be located right next to the courtyard and to your accommodation. The facilitators will be allocated with a budget for the food: you will be participating in grocery shopping and in cooking. We will encourage the purchase of healthy, local products.

Come to discover the rural South of France throughout the ages at Cadalen! It will take you back a thousand years to the Middle Ages, times of templars, cathars, knights and legends. Located in the center of Tarn County, the Heart of Occitanie, you will be at the crossroads of several natural and cultural regions, all with their own history and legends.
Cadalen’s medieval church – a historical monument - is nowadays in ruins. You will be the fourth generation of volunteers to start its renovation.
You will learn traditional masonry techniques. Accompanied by a technical facilitator you will rebuild a wall that used to be part of the town’s church. Attention: part of the work will be carried out at height on scaffoldings.
In the rural Tarn you will discover the deep Douce France.

You will be located at the center of Tarn County, in the Southwest of France, with remarkable natural and man-made heritage. The Tarn is a very rural area, made of sunbathed hills and valleys covered by small fields and forests. The beauty and diversity of this countryside presents a great historical, architectural and environmental interest. Outdoors activities such as hiking, archeology visits are possible.
Not far from Cadalen is the UNESCO Heritage city of Albi, where life goes on pretty much as it has since centuries ago, with one of the world’s most impressive cathedrals.
You will be able to visit several castles and medieval landmarks, such as nearby Cordes Sur Ciel town, where international volunteers have also worked.

You will be accommodated in an individual tent, with access to toilets, shower and kitchen. The group will be sharing the cleaning chores and preparing meals together. The budget will be allocated to the group leader and you will participate in the grocery shopping and in the preparation of meals, prioritizing products from the market and local producers.
Please bring your sleeping bag and mat. You will wash your clothes and other items manually. Wifi is not available, French volunteers can share their internet connections via a hotspot.

Foreigners belonging to the European Union must bring with them a personal EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), and everybody must, in any case, bring their insurance certificate. If health issues arise on the project, volunteers will have to pay for them, and will then be reimbursed once back in their home country.

The aim of the project is to renovate the interior walls of the Saint-Jacques-et-Saint-Philippe church in Buxerolles. The church dates back to the 11th century, but the walls have been plastered with cement, which has led to poor drainage of moisture and created saltpetre. Accompanied by a specialist technical supervisor, you will first have to remove the plaster from the walls, then dehumidify the walls and finish by plastering them with lime. Other traditional masonry work will give you a chance to familiarise yourself with these techniques. You have to come with work clothes or clothes that may be damaged or soiled. We will provide you with safety equipment. No qualifications are required for this project. You will work 4 to 5 hours a day, over 12 days.

Buxerolles (86180) is located in the Greater Poitiers conurbation, 6 km from Poitiers.
Leisure activites: At the crossroads of several charming little villages in the Vienne region, you'll be able to take full advantage of the local heritage. When you're not working on the site, you'll be taking part in summer activities such as July 14th. Outings to Poitiers or Châtellerault and activities such as the Futuroscope, bowling or cinema can also be organised.

Not far from Poitiers, between heaven and earth, in this commune called Buxerolles, the Saint-Jacques-et-Saint-Philippe de Buxerolles church first mentioned in 1226, dates back to the Romanesque period. Construite en 1871, la Batterie de la Pointe est l'un des derniers vestiges du système de défense de Paris. Palaiseau était alors l'une des vingt-deux places fortes du système de défense dit ""Séré de Rivières"" qui ceinturait la capitale. Après la Seconde Guerre mondiale, la plupart de ces fortifications ont été aménagées en laboratoires. À Palaiseau, seule la Batterie de la Pointe a conservé son caractère d'origine. Abandonnée depuis 1980, elle avait été envahie par la végétation.
Pour préserver ce patrimoine historique que la Ville a acquis et pour lui préparer une nouvelle vocation, des chantiers internationaux de jeunes puis des chantiers d'insertion professionnelle ont déjà permis de spectaculaires remises en état. Cette année, nous vous accueillons à nouveau sur ce site remarquable pour remettre en état une partie des contrescarpes !
Built in 1871, the Batterie de la Pointe is one of the last remaining vestiges of the Paris defense system. Palaiseau was then one of the twenty-two strongholds of the ""Séré de Rivières"" defense system that surrounded the capital. After the Second World War, most of these fortifications were converted into laboratories. In Palaiseau, only the Batterie de la Pointe has retained its original character. Abandoned since 1980, it had been invaded by vegetation.
To preserve this historical heritage that the City has acquired and to prepare it for a new vocation, international youth camps and then professional integration workshops have already allowed for spectacular renovations. This year, we welcome you back to this remarkable site to rehabilitate part of the counterscarps !

PEACE is the main theme of this project. The workcamp combines volunteering, learning from history, thinking about peace and the exchange with the local villagers in a special way.
Volunteering: There will be various smaller tasks in Hötensleben. You will be doing some maintenance work at the border memorial, mowing and building new wooden seating areas. Other small jobs for the local infrastructure will be added.
Learning from history: You will not only work on the border memorial, but will of course also be given a lot of background information on the history of the Iron Curtain and the division of Germany, as well as going on excursions to other thematically relevant places of interest.
Thinking about peace: What is Peace for you? When and how is peace in danger? Share your personal point of view and the reality in your home country with other volunteers and with local villagers.
Exchange with local villagers: Peace will be one topic to share and to discuss, but you will also get to know local associations and be able to exchange ideas about everyday life today. They are very excited to meet you and will be glad to share stories with you about their experience in this border area. It would be great if you can speak a bit of German and/or are able to communicate with a phone translator:

Hötensleben is a little village with about 2,500 inhabitants. International workcamps have been taking place there for some 25 years, so local inhabitants are looking forward to welcome the volunteers. Many activities will be done together with locals, e.g. the voluntary fire brigade of Hötensleben. Volunteers should be interested in German contemporary history. We will work at and visit historical places and commemoration sites related to Germany’s history.
You will be given bicycles so that you can be mobile in your free time and, for example, go to the swimming pool.

You will stay in the former village hall that is renovated now and includes several holiday apartments’. They offer a quite comfortable stay and ensure enough room for everyone. There are different sleeping rooms with beds provided and a good equipped kitchen as well. Wifi-acess is limited. Bear in mind that the ground floor of the building is used for different activites during the week, and don’t be scared if you see some unfamiliar faces roaming around!
Your group of volunteers will be responsible for grocery shopping and cooking together. The food will be bought with the camp budget and everybody will take turns for cooking, washing the dishes and cleaning. In order to reduce our carbon footprint on the planet, we encourage volunteers to reduce meat and try more sustainable dishes.

You will be hosted in a very special village. From 1961 to 1989, the Wall with its martial border fortifications ran right next to the village. It divided Germany into two parts and was part of the so-called Iron Curtain. The people of Hötensleben lived in a restricted zone for almost 30 years and always had the Wall in view. To this day, 400 metres of the border fortifications have been preserved as a memorial and are visited by many visitors. The town of Bopfingen invites an international Workcamp for the seventh time this year! International Workcamps have helped with building the complex almost every year. A couple years back, researchers found archaeological evidence from the Celtic people that used to live here thousands of years ago in the Iron Age. The town’s project for the next years is to rebuild some of the houses in Celtic style to show tourists how the Celts may have lived in this area.

Bopfingen is a small town in southern Germany. It has a beautiful centre with a lot of houses in old German style. What makes Bopfingen special is the hill next to the town which is called “Ipf” with its flat plateau on the top. The “Ipf” has an important historical meaning in this area. In former times, the Celts lived there and until today a lot of archaeologists and historians come to explore the region. It is surrounded by beautiful nature where you can go for a walk or hike.
Around Bopfingen, you will find various museums, the romantic historic city of Nördlingen, and the Ries (a large circular meteor impact crater with a diameter of 24 km). If you would like to visit a bigger city, Ulm is not far away with its famous cathedral and the highest church tower in the world.

You will be staying at a local gym hall at about 10 minutes walking distance from the city centre and 15 minutes from the train station. You will all sleep in the very big main room of the gym hall. Camp beds are provided but please bring your own sleeping bag! In the gym hall there is also a kitchen which you can use for cooking, tables and chairs, different toilets which can be separated by gender and one bathroom with one shower.

We invite 12 international volunteers to help continue the construction of the Celtic housing complex in Bopfingen. So far, six workcamp groups, local volunteers of the community of Bopfingen and a team of professional craftsmen have been working on the three houses of the Celtic housing complex. Your task will be to continue the work there by finishing the walls and floors.
The working place is set on the top of the hill “Ipf”, so you will be working outside a lot with a wonderful view over the region. All the materials you work with are natural materials like clay, wood, and stone. The work will be led by a professional instructor, so no previous experience is needed. Expect manual work! You will work around 30 hours per week, somewhere between 8am to 4pm from Monday to Friday with a 1-2 hour lunchbreak.

In the context of the Olympic Games and Saint-Jean-Bonnefonds benefiting from the Terre de Jeux 2024 label, the town wishes to welcome a new team of volunteers to participate in its commitment to the adventure of the Olympic Games. In this approach and to promote the commitment of young people, you will participate in different activities: Firstly, you will use your artistic spirit by creating a fresco on the wall of the Fay district. You will then help municipal services to paint different pedestrian crossings in the city (varied colors/patterns). Finally, you will be responsible for organizing the Youth Olympiad . Your mission will be to set up, with the municipality s youth center and its supervisors, this event for the opening of the Olympic Games. You will organize the opening and closing ceremonies, the various sporting and cultural activities. These Olympiad will also be an opportunity to present your country and your culture. Four young locals will work and participate in the workcamp alongside you. You will be able to discuss your different cultures and they will show you their town. You will be supervised by municipal agents who will share their know-how with you and will be keen to help you discover the municipality. You will work 4 to 5 hours per day.

Dal 2017 Legambiente e Diversamente Marinai sono impegnati nella campagna “Vele Spiegate”. In questo contesto Diversamente Marinai propone campi di volontariato in barca a vela di una settimana nell'Arcipelago Toscano. Il progetto prevede la pulizia delle spiagge poco accessibili via terra, il monitoraggio dei rifiuti, l’avvistamento dei cetacei, il monitoraggio e il controllo delle tracce delle tartarughe marine Caretta Caretta, inoltre andremo alla scoperta dei sentieri che incontreremo nelle insenature dove ci fermeremo e mapperemo quelli che non sono presenti sulle carte. Il progetto mira alla conoscenza del mare attraverso la navigazione e alla creazione di team affiatati e motivati. Per questo i partecipanti impareranno la marineria antica e a farsi equipaggio a bordo di un ketch a vela del 1922. Inoltre, saranno formati sulle principali linee guida in termini di sostenibilità ambientale della fruizione del mare. Non ci può essere vera salvaguardia dell’ambiente senza saper apprezzare il paesaggio naturale. Il campo di lavoro vuole realizzare interventi concreti per migliorare la qualità ambientale mostrando all'equipaggio come vivere sul mare e con il mare sia un’esperienza indimenticabile. Le attività del campo sono arricchite dalla pratica quotidiana della riduzione degli sprechi che la vita di bordo comporta e dalla possibilità di spostarsi utilizzando prevalentemente il vento. Vele Spiegate è un progetto inserito nella Carta Europea del Turismo Sostenibile del Parco Nazionale Arcipelago Toscano per il periodo 2021-2025.

Didattica della vela e la vita di bordo: l’attività prevede un corso di primo livello di navigazione a vela e conduzione di un’imbarcazione storica, attraverso la sperimentazione diretta delle nozioni acquisite.
Pulizia e monitoraggio delle spiagge accessibili solo dal mare: il progetto prevede la pulizia di alcune spiagge difficilmente accessibili via terra, attraverso la rimozione dei rifiuti. In tale occasione saranno anche monitorati i rifiuti attraverso la tecnica del Beach litter riportando dati e riflessioni su appositi moduli, fornendo dati che saranno utilizzati per scopi scientifici.
Ricerca e monitoraggio delle tracce della tartaruga Caretta caretta: i partecipanti impareranno a riconoscere le tracce della tartaruga e saranno impegnati anche nella ricerca delle stesse e nella sensibilizzazione di cittadini e turisti.
Mappatura sentieri: saranno monitorati ed eventualmente mappati quei sentieri che collegano le principali vie sentieristiche dell’isola alle spiagge e insenature, raggiungibili prevalentemente a piedi, e presso le quali faremo sosta con la nostra imbarcazione

L'Arcipelago toscano è formato da un gruppo di sette isole maggiori, di cui la più grande è l'isola d'Elba, più alcune minori, secche e scogli situati tra la terraferma toscana e la Corsica. L'arcipelago è bagnato da quattro mari: il mar Ligure a nord dell'isola d'Elba, il canale di Piombino a est, il mar Tirreno a sud e il canale di Corsica a ovest delle coste elbane. Il canale di Corsica e il canale di Piombino possono essere considerati come canali naturali di collegamento tra il mar Ligure e il mar Tirreno, rispettivamente a ovest e ad est dell'isola d'Elba.

Acquisizione delle conoscenze veliche di base per la conduzione di un’imbarcazione in sicurezza. Acquisizione delle conoscenze di base di marineria storica. Incremento della conoscenza di alcuni ambienti naturali dell’Arcipelago Toscano e della sua biodiversità. Apprendimento relativo alle emergenze ecologiche dell’ecosistema marino e costiero e correlazione con le abitudini di consumo e trattamento dei rifiuti. Attività formative di base volte al riconoscimento delle tracce della tartaruga marina (Caretta Caretta).
Alloggio
I partecipanti alloggeranno su un ketch a vela in legno del 1922 di 16,5 metri. I pasti verranno preparati in barca e si seguirà un'alimentazione prevalentemente vegetariana.

The main task will be to contribute in the renovation of the old boarding school which L’Enfance de l’Art has been occupying since 2011.
Material and techniques of construction are eco-friendly.
The aim is to create a welcoming and well-equipped place with lavatories, kitchen, dorm, game room, etc.
Volunteers will work from Monday to Friday, from 9 to 12am and from 2 to 4pm. Depending on the needs, they will work in teams on different tasks:
Eco-renovation: coating with a straw-soil mix, dismounting of building, materials sorting, painting
Taking care of the surroundings
Furniture building in the carpentry workshop
Cooking for the team

The building of “l’Ecole de la Providence” is located in Templeuve which is a small village close to the French border (2 km) and 20 km from Lille and 10 km from Tournai. There is a market and small shops in the village. A bus line makes the connection with Tournai (every hour during the day). The countryside is flat, which makes it easy to bike (a few bikes will be available). Tournai is a touristic place for old stones, history and museums lovers. Its cathedral is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

On the workcamp place, in other buildings to be restored or in a tent (possibility to choose):
- two showers and several toilets
- a room to cook and eat
- two dorms
Comfort will be closed to what you can find in a scout' camp.
Please bring a sleeping bag and a torch (to move inside the buildings).
The meals (light at lunch: sandwiches, salads, soup... and hot meal for dinner) will be prepared by a member of the organisation with the help of two volunteers. A focus will be put on a good management of the collective cooking in order to have quality meals with as few waste as possible.

"L’Enfance de l'Art", founded in 1997, is an association which aims to help parents in their education role. The organisation aims to gather people willing to bring to their children a creative learning environment where they can find the joy in learning and experience the richness of childhood rather than early specialisation or academic hot-housing. Parents and professionals work together in the structures created by the organisation: leisure workshops, nurseries, schools, kindergarten. To do so, the association follows the principles of Steiner-Waldorf pedagogy.
Altogether, those activities gather a total of 155 children. The nursery, the kindergarten and the primary school, which are all recognized by the authorities, are located in a former boarding school which was abandoned in 2004. This building in now in a process of renovation which the volunteers will take part in.

This project contributes to the dissemination of the natural and cultural heritage with a community working approach to the territory.
The project proposes different actions, in the technical and work aspect, focused on heritage cultural and in the natural-landscape heritage of the counties of "Pallars Jussà" and "Pallars Sobirà".
The different tasks will be:
Municipality of Talarn
- Recovery of the dry-stone walls of the roads and clearing and cleaning of roads.
Municipality of Salàs (historical heritage)
- Shrub all the vegetation that has made the road completely impassable, recuperation of ancient path between Salàs and Rivert, recovery the dry-stone walls that followed much of the way, redoing them with the traditional methodology. Adapt areas close to the Romanesque hermitage to be able to carry out future actions aimed at carring out archaeological excavations and the restoration of existint architectural elements.
Municipality of Baix Pallars (historical and mining heritage)
- Construction of several dry-stone walls of the salt complexes and cleaning of the drain and around the salt mines.
Municipality of Gavet (historical heritage)
- Shrub all the vegetation and clean excavated areas and help the archaeologists to remove stones and land.

The municipality of Talarn is located on the right bank of the Noguera Pallaresa and surrounds the town of Tremp. Mainly flat around the water of the Sant Antoni reservoir, this is an ideal spot for the
practice of water sports.
Several activities will be:
- Visit to Epicenter in Tremp. This visitor center of the Pallars Jussà region is the main tourist information in the area and a space that shows the values of the local cultural and natural heritage. An opportunity to live an attractive cultural experience, discover the charms of the region and feel motivated to find out about the landscapes, the historic heritage, the resources, the products, and
the services of the region.
- Visit to Salàs of Pallars shops- Museum: guided tour for different ancient stores.
- Day trip to Vall Fosca. By private bus participants will reach in la Vall Fosca Cable car. From Teleferic 2.200, people can start a wide range of treks to the 32 lakes that make up this spectacular site. - Visit to Montsec Astronomic Parc (COU). It is COU's observation site where visitors can learn about the different equipment. In addition to this, if the weather makes it possible, visitors can observe some of the most outstanding objects of the night, such as the Moon, the planets, nebulae...

The volunteers are going to stay in one youth hostel called Alberg de Talarn: http://www.albergdetalarn.com/wp/
Participants will sleep in one room all together where there are 12 bunk beds with shelves to store personal staff. The toilets and showers are indoor (no gender separation), with hot water and private showers. There is one kitchen on the 3rd floor however participants will prepare for themselves the breakfast and the lodge will serve the other meals. Snacks will be provided during working breaks.
Please, if someone is vegetarian or have some allergies is important to notify on the application form.
Volunteers must be prepared for really high temperatures, for that, during a while the windows are open to refresh the room.

“Beyond the vineyard: the dry stone heritage” is a camp based on dry stone works, which were declared cultural heritage by UNESCO.
Participants are going to recover a huge stone wall in a vineyard area and also a shepherd's stone hut. They are also going to work in a Civil War trench area in order to make them more accessible to visitors.
The main work in the camp will be the recovery of different dry stone works (wall, huts and Civil War trenches).
To do this, participants will have the support of experts from CESUB, Subirats historical study group. So, the technical tasks are:
- Restoration and maintenance of the dry stone margins between the cores of Ordal and Saint Paul of Ordal. -Restoration and maintenance of the remnants of trenches from the Civil War that are in the same area.
- Restoration of a shepherd's hut located near the Archaeological Jaciment of Subirats.
- Location of dry stone constructions using the Wikipedra portal.
- Maintenance Tasks in Saint Paul's Ordal (maintenance of public banks and children's park)
- Build and place nest boxes.
The work is always outdoor, although there are other options in case of extreme climate conditions.

The privileged geographical situation, a plain protected by mountains by the sea, the mild climate of the Mediterranean coast and a permeable land, rich in phosphorus, make the region of El Penedès, the main producer of wines and cavas in Catalonia. This wine history goes back to at least the 4th century B.C.
The vineyard structures are thus a distinctive cultural feature of the area, and they have been refined over time. The Subirats area, halfway between the Vilafranca plain and the Ordal mountains, has steeper terrain than the rest of the region. That is why, in this area, the structure of dry stone walls and constructions, which are necessary for levelling the ground and plotting the vineyards, is quite important.
Leisure activities will be held every day.
A list of the main activities that are in the programme:
-Group games, workshops and cultural activities in order to learn more about Catalan culture and the vineyard tradition in the area.
-Participants will visit cultural and historical areas and museum in Subirats, a wine and champagne factory and also Vilafranca del Penedès, the Catalan's wine capital.
-They will also visit the city of Barcelona, which is only 45km from the accommodation area.
-You will participate in the rehearsals of a groups of “castellers”, learnig how catalan human towers are made.
Alloggio
The participants of the work camp will be installed in “ZER Montcau”, a multifunctional space of a school in the center of town, and will have a large patio, toilets and showers (separated boys and girls, with hot water, indoor and shared), a kitchen and the pool by the school.
The participants will sleep in a large room all together in the same space without gender separation, on mattresses on the floor.
The area has high temperatures in summer, so bring cotton and fresh clothes. The hosting organization highly recommends long sleeve shirts and t-shirts for the working as hat to protect from the sun.
There will be a catering providing the food for the volunteers and snacks and fruit will be provided during breaks.
There are vegetarian/vegan options, also other cultural reasons and any al·lergy options.

The general objective of the work camp is to show the environmental reality of a territory and how to intervene in it by:
1. Contributing to the improvement and conservation of the Natural Area of Sils wetlands.
2. Knowing the biodiversity and the characteristic habitats of these humid zones
3. Knowing the land stewardship, the actors in the territory that participate and good practices.
4. Transmitting values of cooperation and respect towards the environment and its inhabitants.
5. Offering a space for exchange and discovery of the different realities of the participants, mainly in environmental issues and for the conservation and management of natural spaces.
6. Encouraging responsible consumption in every way. On the one hand, as an important measure for our environment; on the other hand, in the use of new technologies and other aspects related to the care of oneself and the community.
7. Promoting participants to become diffusers.
8. Showing Catalan culture through vividness and networking.
The technical work that will be done:
Sils Lake is a protected natural area included in the Plan of Spaces of Natural Interest (PEIN) of Catalonia. It is part of the European Network of Natural Spaces Natura 2000, which is at the core of European biodiversity policies.
In recent centuries, areas of natural flooding have receded and today they are scarce in Catalonia. In our Mediterranean context, the conservation of spaces such as the Sils Lake has become of the highest interest. Due to its special humidity and flood conditions, several species of flora and fauna characteristic of wetlands are still preserved in this area.
That is why the restoration of this area has been carried out since last year, to make it a biodiversity reserve of both fauna and flora and an important point of rest, food and shelter for a large variety of birds and other animals.
During the summer of last year, the third international field of work was carried out at Sils Lake in order to recover the sheet of water and restore the adjacent areas and infrastructure.
However, there were many tasks left to do due to the situation in the pond. That is why this year we want to continue with the work begun and focus on all the things that were left to us.
The spaces where volunteers will work are:
- Permanent lagoon.
- Old viewpoint.
- Water canal.
- Infraestructures.
Each space has associated tasks to be performed this year, of which a detailed technical sheet has been prepared for the work to be done, indicating the spaces where they will be performed.
These tasks are:
- Elimination of invasive flora.
- Make deeper two ponds.
- Nest box tracking.
- Maintenance and restoration of infrastructure.
- Fixation of points of insolation on the shores and garbage collection.

Sils will be your accommodation town in your stage in Catalunya. Sils is a municipality and town of the “comarca de la Selva”. It is located at the bottom of the “comarca” plain and its southern third was occupied until the mid-nineteenth century by the lake of Sils, which we will restore. The town has 6.093 citizens and it’s located near Girona, Lloret de Mar or Sta. Coloma de Farners.
Lake Sils is a protected natural area in accordance with the legislation of the Generalitat de Catalunya, and has been proposed to be included in the European Natura 2000 network. It is the remains of a lagoon that was drained in the past in order to obtain new farmland and fight malaria. However, thanks to the conditions of special humidity and the annual floods, species of flora and fauna characteristic of the humid zones are still conserved. In recent centuries, areas of natural flooding in Catalonia have suffered a major recession and are currently scarce in Catalonia. On the other hand, in a predominantly Mediterranean context, the conservation of natural spaces such as the Sils lake is one of the most interesting.

Alloggio
The accommodation is located in the "Sala Cultural" of La Laguna (the local cultural center).
La Laguna is a space of about 800m2, with different rooms. On the one hand, at the bottom there is a very large entrance that is used as an entrance but also as a room for activities due to its capacity. And right next door it has a kitchen. On the other hand, there are separate boys and girls toilets, between this room and the large room. The large hall is about 510 m2, where all kinds of activities take place (plays, dances, etc.). This would be the sleeping and resting area for the participants.
At the top there are two more spaces, which would be "el galliner" and a very large corridor that is also used as a room for some activities. In addition, it has two offices and a material and cleaning room. The equipment has a kitchen with the basics and the food as much as possible will be organic.
The menu is balanced with fresh products every day so that it provides all the necessary nutrients with the environment in mind, but since they consume practically no fish and little meat, it means no meat is eaten daily. The participants will be organized in groups and will have to cook the food in rotation. There is a basic kitchen to be able to cook and also a microwave. It is not recommended that participants can eat and use the kitchen outside the established hours.
No problem if you are vegetarian, vegan and/or with allergies and/or intolerance; If there are vegetarian participants, they must say so at the time of registration because the organization will consider an alternative menu.
There will be a total of 5 meals throughout the day, breakfast early in the morning, a mid-morning break to eat fruit or snacks, lunch, afternoon snack and finally dinner.
The dining room is equipped with tables and benches, and there will be an area of toilets and showers. In addition, we hope to be able to go to the pool and, in our case, exceptionally, use the showers of that equipment.

Emys Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation of nature, specially wetlands and also the terrapin Emys orbicularis, that give the name to the Foundation.
Born in 2003, Emys foundation is located close to Riudarenes in a country farm called Can Moragues. Emys orbicularis is the native terrapin of Catalunya, north Africa and most parts of Europe. In 1987 a group of young people discovered through a talk that in his region there was an endangered terrapin, the Emys orbicularis. They decided to do something to help that species. Those people started doing custody agreements with local territory owners to protect ponds, streams and lakes. And this is how Emys Foundation starts.
Actually Emys orbicularis is still endangered because of the destruction of the habitat, exotic species and water contamination. In the Selva region we found the best preserved population in Catalonia with more than 500 animals..
The organization works with a conciliatory view, where the challenge is involving the owners, managers and users of the territory in the natural heritage values, its sustainable management and its long-term conservation. All this is done by voluntary work, land stewardship, research, conservation, education and consciousness-raising.
The organization has been ground-breaking in the field of amphibian and reptiles and has been awarded on different occasions. The research projects made by Emys Foundation receive advice from investigation groups of different Universities (University of Barcelona, University Autonoma of Barcelona, University of Girona and also the Aranzadi Science Society). The technicians of Emys Foundation are also university investigators and take part actively in the writing and publication of scientist articles, congress executions and technical conferences. All the information collected in the research projects of the Foundation is used to evaluate and improve our methods of natural environmental management.
